  1. Managed to make a bin in the end! Spent the day in the spray booth getting them into paint! the ferret is beginning to look beautiful once again
  2. Good to see you a few weeks ago Richard, looks like it's got a PTO drive for a compressor or generator on it ? Tom
  3. Hi robin, how much do you want for it?
  4. I am currently rebuilding a ferret, And I am in dire need of some bins, I have managed to get three of them, but I now need just one more, I'm pretty sure it's the rear left hand side, I've got a set minus this one coming from Germany! does anybody need any interior parts in exchange for one or for some good old cash?
  5. Got one on the bench at the moment, doesn't look like there is on anywhere on it! Which is very strange, will investigate tomorrow and send you a text
  6. I rebuilt a pair of these a few weeks ago, on a wartime Humber staff car, they can be a bit fiddly just make sure that the rod for the hand brake is pulling it straight as it pinches the seal and causes it to weep. p.s we've got a set of seals on the shelf.
  7. I've had the back body low loadered to a lock up where I can work on it on solid ground, it was only then I realised how big the whole thing is! It's as wide as a modern lorry! No wonder she has ten wheels!
  8. Thought it was time to stop fiddling with other people's and customers vehicles and I should get myself a vehicle, ideally I wanted something British, but I've always liked the Jimmy and quite fancy pulling up to a QL or something and dwarfing it! The truck that I have got has the workshop body on the back which I plan to make into a living quarter, with onboard generator and water, perfect for war and peace and the other shows I go to. I've got a few other quirky ideas, but they will have to wait. The whole thing is stripped down at the moment, fully sandblasted and ready to be reassembled, as I do all of this as a full time job I am having to put it on the back burner and do it in my free time!
  9. She really is a pretty girl, ive only ever driven humbers like that, it the suspension soft or it it a trie morris and rock hard? my next project is going to be a full rebuild of a CDSW, which im quite excited about ha.. I think the low bonnets are so pretty
  10. Richard, good thoughts! was the first thing we checked, didnt make much, if any difference she only knocked when it was up to temprature.. found we had a broken ring aswell! tom
  11. Hi Ron, is that a PU8 engine? Looks like a stunning rebuild in the pictures! I am going to be doing a 6 cylinder next, had lots of oil pressure, measured them up today amd its got +40 thou pistons at the moment, amd they are bloody tight got a set of plus 20 thou too, but ideally they want to be you? lus 30!, going to investigate them properly tommorow, who did the engine for you? tom
  12. Under inspection the valves weren't seating very well so will need cutting in when I come around to it. They seemed to have quite alot of side to side movement aswell, so I will tackle this when I come to it, whipped off the big ends and took a look and I was quite glad that I did, I thought the white metal bearing were shot, so I decided to take a trundle along to a friend who specialises in white metal and said that they were fine, just picked up some rubbish, taught me how to polish them up and scrape the gouges out gave me a pat on the back and I was off. 1. I did ask him whether it would effect the clearances and he said absolutely not, 2. Yes its a main in the picture!
  13. Run a compression test and the compression was around 80PSI, across all 4 cylinders, I just assumed that as a side valve it would be low compression, but speaking to a morris man he said it should be around 110psi, decided to whip the head off and have a look insode the top end. turns out that the head gasket was just an asbestos one, no copper in it whatever like the ones ive seen before,
  14. Dropped the sump off and nothing seemed wrong, oil was clean bottom of the sump has no grit,
  15. Decided that the Morris CDFW needed a engine rebuild after it lost power and started knocking, Hoping to have it rebuilt and run in ready for dunkirk next year, Thread should come along quite quickly as im spending all my time on it.
  16. Private benjamin is owned by a good friend of mine Nick Steggal, He's just done the engine conversion himself, also managed to squeeze a massive cummins 6BT into a landrover defender 90! hes a friendly old boy, still has the original petrol engine and conpoments but hes not going to be selling the parts incase he decides to put it back to original spec! Got thousands of pictures of the engine conversion

  20. Not too much to go now until me Ian Carlton (wolfy) and steve go up the airfield to do the chassis, then it will be time to start putting it back together! Exciting times!
  21. It's been a long and hard uphill struggle... more for Steve having to beat me every time I got something wrong or I was cheeky to him.. my leg still hurts! For some unknown reason I quite enjoyed myself! I think Steve enjoyed having someone to beat, he did warn me with lots of advance ...
  22. Im sure there are lots of people about who will help.. where abouts are you based so we know where the engine is. .
