  1. I use a company called Shiply who advertise on ebay and Google but as far as I am aware do not just work for ebay items. You give details of what you want picking up where from where to etc and various couriers/haulage firms bid to win the job. Basically it works on the back load system ie. it is better to drive back loaded than empty if they have just delivered in the area. I have had motorbikes shipped from one end of the country to the other for £80 I couldn't do it for three times that. A friend has had a lathe moved and again the price was very cheap compared to other quotes he had. There is a feedback system so you can pick a reputable firm. There does not appear to be a limit on items transported so vehicles are carried along with small items. However I think an Antar might cause a few raised eyebrows ! Hope that helps, Best Wishes David :undecided:
  2. Hello again Clive, that does seem a long time when mine plays up it lasts a day or so , you are right to be concerned perhaps your local computer man may help, I have anti virus by avast and it has always been good but trouble is as you know new ways to infect your computer appear daily. I hope you get sorted and if in doubt don't open any unsolicitied emails or sites until you are sure things are ok. Best Wishes David
  3. Hi there, I have not had this problem with the sites you list but it does happen on my computer sometimes mostly ebay and preloved, because I trust these I just open them anyway but like you say I would be very wary opening an unknown site because as we all know theres alot of nasty stuff out there ! What I will say is that usually the sites affected go back to normal within a few days if that helps ? As to why though I have no idea. :undecided: Best Wishes, David

  10. For anyone reading this, last years event was very good and well worth a visit, nice setting and very friendly plus an important area in WW2 so plenty of places locally of interest. We will attend in our '41 Chevrolet 1.5t cargo truck so if we can be of any help at all give me a shout. David
  11. Hi there, Yes I saw the program and it was in my opinion far better than alot of the other so called restoration shows on tv. The owner certainly looked emotional at the end and it was nice that after the vandals caused him so much heartache he got his jeep back :-)
  12. Hi Martin, welcome to the forum and good luck with finding a war time vehicle. I have had several now and the friends I have made along the way have been amazing. The best advice I can give you is buy the best and most complete you can afford and you will find whatever you spend will usually be safer than money in the bank and alot more fun ! There are alot of people out there to help you with advice and spares and you will soon realise you have joined one big happy family ! Best wishes , David.
  13. Hi, I made a simple wrap around attachment which drops behind the clutch pedal and is secured with a top quality padlock it won't stop someone towing the jeep away not much would (apart from a wheel clamp) but it does stop someone just jumping in and driving off. If you want details or a picture let me know. David
  14. Hello Hans, welcome to HMVF. Best Wishes, David :-)
  15. Much the same as here then I recently had to sell my 43 Ford GPW because of no work I bought a 41 Chevrolet G-7107 cargo truck as a cheaper replacement but still no work so it may have to go now ! At this rate it will be a 40's pushbike for me. All the best and once again welcome :cheesy: arcot1751

Very jealous of your move I wanted to do the same years back but didn't take the plunge if only I could turn the clocks back I would be on the next flight. All the best and any jobs going ? Ha Ha
