  1. Hi attlej, This was common practice some years ago but with the improvement of materials and tolerance of brake components now not carried out, the " Brake Doctor " as the rig was know as now been discarded. It was quite an agricultural affair and not as complicated as you might think. The cutting tool was a cranked carbide tipped bit in a adjustable head. One of the problems encountered was machining of the shoes too accurately which would then cause binding with the increase in temperature when in use. PS this was carried out at our workshops in Portsmouth.
  2. Hello All, Please excuse if this intro appears elsewhere on the site, second time I've submitted. New to the site but I've had a deep interest in military vehicles for fifty of my sixty years. I'm impressed with the depth of coverage and content on the site. To gather further information I've instructed all my offspring to photograph any vehicles they may seem worth and notify me. To his credit No2 son has captured two armoured vehicles used during the 1950's emergencies while travelling through Malaya. I spend a fair amount of time in Poland, there is always something of interest there. When I've worked out how to attach I'll post what I have. Edski
