GRAHAM The ones l quoted where at the 1962 exhibition the one in the picture with moke is not in the book as l said in my e mail to you THE RAF moke number does puzzle me as i also said that number seems to be from 1967 but you recall that l also said l know very liittle about the workings of the RAF system regards wally

HI GRAHAM JUST a few points first picture exhibit no3 states length 9 ft 2 when i went to school that was 98 inches exhibit 4 states the length as 10 ft that is 120 inches so where have figures you have come from also in the same CHERTSEY BOOK AS EXHBIT 4 dated 1962 landrovers 23 DM 20 AND 44 DM 40 ARE SHOWN l have some of the CHERTSEY books but missing is 1961 which none of my friends have there is a story that there was not one for that year who knows

N O S THANK YOU some time ago this came up with a customer and before doing any thing l looked it to it there was alot of discussion on this same subject even on construction forums on the legal position to carrying passengers in the back of open back trucks none gave any real help other than contacting there insurance company

  11. HI JACK Why not have your own head converted no problem refitting it as to parts they are generally good to get there enough Dealers of ex military Landrovers about OH by the way wecome
  12. THE reason l asked is we found several four wheeled trolleys when we moved in to the museum they were marked LNER and had been used in the tannery for moving hides on l think trolleys like this were used by many companies including farmers were l grew up to take milk churns to the road side
  13. WHATS the distance between the wheels it look like the front set of a four wheeled trolley like the ones used years ago on railway stations for luggage

HI l am ready to give the answer if you look at post 19 dates are given when the MOKES left CHERTSEY there where only eight sent there Six left between 1960 to 1963 these would have there BT numbers one was struck of charge but no date given the last left in 1969 but it was not unusual when a vehicle had been trialed to remain on site for some time after for years also l have learnt more about the workings of CHERTSEY FACT numbers given to vehicles where not issused in numerical order and in some cases up to three different numbers applied to the same vehicle RIGHT 20 BT 29 WAS ISSUSED IN 1961 l have now pictures of this vehicle and referance to it in a military audit also l have a book showing this vehicle at a exhibition in 1962 so 20 BT 30 was issused in 1961 l am as sure as l can be l emailed this information to graham last night as l thought it fair he was the first to know REGARDS WALLY

  17. l have just seen this a bit of history the last prototypes where made 1964 the military had decided not to go ahead with the moke project in 1963 for the well known problem l have emailed graham and explained what is happening l promise to post the results when l am happy and at least 90% certain what l say with the information that l have at this time l have had to rely on peoples memories while l have to trust what they remember from years back as l know how important this is to graham please bear with me regards wally
  18. if you go on to the NATIONAL ARMY MUSEUM SITE click on aquisiton and disposal policy then on the left side of page up comes reports /accounts /review this brings up along list of yearly reports take your pick 2005 onwards
  19. If you go on the NATIONAL ARMY MUSEUM website look under council reports there is list going back some years the last one is for 2012 to 2013 in there is the DISPOSALS and the terms of the items disposal IE sold /transfered

JOHN NOW l have found details of 20 BT 29 it is only the start l now have to find details of 20 BT 31 when l find details of this one hopefully not only will l be able to give the year but the month and day A visit to my old boss came up with pictures of 20 BT 29 and more importantly its establishment number before it was given the reg 20 BT 29 after this is all double checked l will gladly post the information on here but up to now it has taken me six hours with tea stops to get this far REGARDS WALLY

TONY You and your memory what about the SINGER CHAMOIS BORROWED one from a girlfriends mother to take her to a dance in north yorkshire the girl friend not the mother on the way back the cylinder head went A comon fault on the imp and the chamois broke down in the middle of no where no mobile phones no phone box so at to stay with the car till first light when a farmer came to the rescue her mother never talk to me again PS happy days
