  1. I can't see it being for RPG rounds, The distance between the armour and the vehicle is nothing, 6" if that. To be honest, if you had a RPG would'nt you go for the turret or tracks. :dunno:
  2. Looking at the picture i'd say they havent been there that long going on the condition. Dont see to many of the Cent RVs about these days.
  3. Not to clued up on German vehicle but the first pic looks to ba a Sturmpanzer IV Brummbar. I may be wrong but thats nothing new. The last pic is a Panther :dunno: Tony
  4. This maybe a stupid thing to ask but can anyone shed any light of this Armour please? While out on the ranges today we cought up with a whole gang of CVR(T)s and some of them have this type of armour. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r183/plainmilitary/HMFV%20SALISBURY%20PLAIN%20VISIT/CVRT2.jpg[/img] http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r183/plainmilitary/HMFV%20SALISBURY%20PLAIN%20VISIT/CVRT3.jpg[/img] http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r183/plainmilitary/HMFV%20SALISBURY%20PLAIN%20VISIT/CVRT1.jpg[/img] These pictures were taken last year and not today. Im sure its not right but I call it Zelda Armour after the IDF M113 Zelders :dunno:. Any help would be great as we are going up again some time in the week. Tony
  5. I have had a go at putting a screen saver into the gallery. You can find it under Plain Military. Can anyone tell me if it working. Many thanks. Tony
  6. Would it be possible to have a page on HMVF for screen savers? We all have pictures we use on our own computers but would like to share them with the rest of the HMVF community. I for one have a lot of pictures of last years Plain invasion I would like to share. Most of the picture would have to be at 1024 or 800X600 if you are still running at the larger screen size. To save copy write problems, maybe your name in the bottom corner or a water mark. Just a thought :dunno: Tony
  7. Hello chaps After a bit of a sort out today I came across a couple of books. As far as I can remember there have always been two volumes. Are there any more to this collection or is that it? Picture below is the text on the inside cover. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r183/plainmilitary/HMFV%20SALISBURY%20PLAIN%20VISIT/100_0181.jpg[/img] There are some stunning pictures of tanks and many maps showing the layout of the battle front. Many thanks with any help. Tony

  12. The way this skittle game is panning out I think the only medi care we are going to need is Aspirins and plasters. We can never have enouth medi cover, you never know when it will be needed. Tony
  13. Dave and Rambo you two guys need a trophy just for your help. We appreciate it  . What about best turned out vehicle, I,m sure we will not fall short of judges. We can't have HMVF members to judge so I will bring in outside help for this job. What do you think, just a thought. I have looked through the threads but can,t find a post about some one offering to bring a 101 Ambulance. can you please PM me as I have a guy down this neck of the woods with 25 years in the medical corp. He has offered his help and experience if needed. Tony
  14. Dave how could you think such a thing, A man with my up bringing, passing the buck  . Out of curiosity, How many different marks of FV430s are there in private hands at present. This has given me an idea for a get together at some point. I know there are plenty of 432 ACPs, 434 RVs but what about the Swingfire, cyberline and Mortar variants. Just a thought. Tony
  15. Hear hear bottoms up    Tony
  16. Dave its your call mate, you bring what ever you want. Im sure we will get lost at some point of the weekend  Have you got the radio gear sorted?

  19. WOW thats unreal, it must be an American staging point, we dont have that much stuff do we?
  20. Best bits, Finally getting around to buying a vehicle, meeting all you guys on the Plains meet  Worst bits well nothing really just the usual things. MOD dragging there heels over the camp site and my much loved Spaniel going ill over Christmas and costing me ££££££££££££££ in vet bills. Hopfully he will be fine but time will tell. New years resolution, just to have fun get my rust bucket up and running for Plain Invasion 08 and get to more shows with the rest of the guys. Happy new year everyone.
  21. The village will be open till the 01-01-08 then it will be closed again. As for the rest of the year I will let you know as soon as I find out. Just thinking out loud, though we do the Plain invasion maybe some of you would like to come over for a one day drive out to Imber in the new year. Like I say, when I get some dates I will post. Tony
  22. The SPTA DTE opens Imber village (GHOST VILLAGE) twice a year, Easter and Christmas. Although there is not much left of the old village, just a few buildings remain; 12th century church, manor house and the old Bell pub still stands as a reminder of the days gone by. The wrecks can be found by driving through the village and up the main carriageway towards Warminster. All the wrecks can be seen to the left and right of the carriageway, some being closer than others. Binoculars will be needed for some of the tanks and if you are toying with photos then a 300mm lens may be needed. Chieftain 11FD68 stands right next to the road. At no point must you leave the road. Its very tempting just to pop over for a closer look but trust me, I have been out on the Impact zone with the MOD and you will not believe the sort of ammo that is laying out there. Here is a link if you wish to find out a bit more about Imber village. It has a bitter sweet history full of intrigue. There is also a map showing the best way of finding the Ghost village. http://worldofstuart.excellentcontent.com/imber/imber.htm Tony
  23. Thats how I look at it, They trained our boys in service and they are still training our boy long after they were stood down. Tony
  24. Chris, I thing CMV missed out there old bean. We really should get together for a more in-depth look at some of these great little work horses. Maybe some walk around articles, if anyone is interested in such articles. Great work mate    Tony
  25. We have thought about approaching the chain store to seek permission to have a dig around on the fire dump. The problem with this is we will need to get some JCBs on site as well as a BDU. This link will give you some idea of the shear size of this place and some of the RAF and USAAF SQDs that were based there. http://daveg4otu.tripod.com/airfields/and.html Thankfully for us the where abouts of the fire dump still remains under wraps. You never know, maybe one day we will try and get a team together and have another crack of the whip.
