  1. Hope you don't mind, but i've brightened your photo up a bit. It does look like the mirror has been painted white.
  2. Here are a couple of photos of a Shaktiman ex Indian Army truck that I got a lift in whilst trekking in the Nepalese Himalyas. The Shaktiman was being used for carrying rice and other supplies to villages near Annapurna. The Shaktiman is basically a copy of the German MAN 630 L2AE and is built in the Vehicle Factory, Jabalpur, India. It has a payload of 3 tons, and was available as GS, artillery tractor and tanker variants.
  3. Here is a Citroen Kegresse that is a regular at shows in Scotland. I don't think it has a military background, but, interestingly, was used in the Himalayas. These photos were taken a few weeks ago at the Scone Rally near Perth. I first saw it at Knockhill in about 1988.
  4. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370434530065&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT This guy has ten available for only £19.99 each.
  5. Here is a Mammoth Major that is a regular at the shows up in this neck of the woods. I believe it was used to pull a trailer loaded with some kind of missile. The exhaust is routed through a large tank of water to douse any sparks that may be present.
  6. Absolutely splendid! She sounds very sweet. Well done to all of you.
  7. That's what I thought strange.
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260646658902#v4-39 Anyone know anything about this strange beast? Made for the British army for use in Bosnia in 1982 ??? Seems a bit odd to me.
  9. On the 6th August 1945, the B29 bomber "Enola Gay" dropped an atom bomb nicknamed "Little Boy" on the Japanese city Hiroshima. By the end of 1945, roughly 140000 people had died from the effects of this bomb. Three days later a second atom bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Six days after that, Japan surrendered to the Allies, and the Second World War ended.
  10. All the best to you and your family.
  11. Here are some pics taken in Cyprus 1971, when my dad was Chaplain to the Gordon Highlanders. He is the wee guy in some of the pics. These were posted previously, but lost in the forum crash. Hope they are of interest to you.
  12. Thanks for posting the pics. PM sent.
  13. If I've got them, they are yours, but will be two or three weeks 'till I can check. I'll let you know in due course.
  14. I think I may have a spare set of them, but can't be 100% sure till I check. All my stuff is spread far and wide at the mo, so will be two or three weeks till I know for sure.
  15. Thanks. Here is a link to a tutorial on loading pics. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/faq.php?faq=vb3_reading_posting#faq_vb3_attachments
  16. What do you mean by the side shields? The triangular windows?
  17. Good to see progress. My wings are in a similar state to yours. Not looking forward to them! Is your windscreen frame brass? My original ones were steel, totally rotten, luckily two lovely brass ones were supplied with the truck when I got it.
  18. I've brightened up a couple of your pics so we can see what's going on.
  19. I'm interested. Any chance of a couple of photos, especially of the cut. Thanks.
  20. Thanks for the info Degsy.
  21. Can't remember where I took this one. Does anyone recognise it?
  22. This one was lying in Cuthbertsons yard, Biggar. The yard has now been cleared. BSW Harvesting are a timber company based in Earlston, in the Borders.
  23. Here are a K9 and, i think a Commer, in a wee yard at Drem, East Lothian about five years ago. Sadly all gone now. They were a bit close to the hedge for a decent pic.
