  1. "Think we paid £100 for a ton." Where did you get your grit from? Every place I've tried wants silly money.
  2. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071101/ap_on_re_us/obit_tibbets Just noticed this when I logged on.
  3. What a strange looking beastie. I don't think i've seen one of them before. Is it still around?
  4. I have been looking through some slides belonging to my Dad and found this. It is of me, in 1968, aged about five, about to be taken to school in an army Hillman Husky! I can remember two things about this car, once while turning right the passenger door flew open, I don't know why I didn't shoot out onto the road in those pre seatbelt days. The other thing I remember is, we usually took a back road where there was a hump back bridge, I don't know if Dad ever got the wheels off the ground, but it felt like it! I also remember a morris traveller with holes in the floor, various land-rovers, minis, and latterly an escort mk2 and a chevette. Not very glamourous, but Dad was a Chaplain and didn't get to play with big toys. So, lets hear everyone elses earliest memories of green machines. Davie
  5. Try here. http://www.wmccm.co.uk/WMCCM/WMCCM/Companies/ViewCompany.aspx?itemid=4471
  6. Looks like a Saltire on the turret, do you know which regiment it was with?
  7. I don't think so Tony, It's obviously the same colour but I've sanded down the panel where it says 24 hour recovery and there is no sign of any writing. Also if you enlarge your photo it can be seen that the windscreens are one piece of glass. mine still had the split screens when I got it. Cheers, Davie.
  8. Just found a couple more Albion shots, taken by Sandy McNeil some years ago. The first is at Biggar again. The second was taken at Bo'ness steam railway workshops. It's not there now, anyone have any idea where she went? Davie.
  9. Ahhh, you beat me to it. Here's another one, taken at Beltring two or three years ago.
  10. I got some stuff called messowax ( i think) a few years ago from RR services in Kent. It worked a treat on my LR90 canvas. I don't know if it comes in any other colour than olive drab Though. Hope this helps, Davie. http://www.rrservices.co.uk/
  11. Don't know why the last one came up twice. Here is the third though.
  12. Here ara some more cx22 pics. They were taken about five years ago in Cuthbertsons yard in Biggar. Thats the place that made the Cuthbertson tracked conversion for land rovers. Sadly they are gone now, I don't know if they were scrapped or if someone saved them. Davie.
  13. Thanks for that info Neil, I'll let him know though he might be put off by it being 600 miles away.
  14. Your motor looks in great shape, presumably a recovery truck at some stage? I don't think so, there are no signs of anything being fitted other than original equipment. I wander what she has been doing since she was cast in 1968. Davie.
  15. Thanks for that, I take it you are the man who owns the CX22 named Helen? I know of several others up in this neck of the woods, I'll have a rummage and find some more photos to post. Davie.
  16. Here's another pic, taken the day it arrived at my place. Thats my mate Sandy beside it, He has a stalwart that needs an engine by the way, any one got a good B81 engine up for grabs? Anyway at the moment work is proceeding on the Albion cab woodwork, a joiner pal is doing it for me as I rewired his house for free. There's nothing like a bit of barter now and again. After the cab is sorted the plan is to lift off the rear body And shotblast the chassis etc. Mechanically it is in pretty good order, I've rebuilt the brake servos, and repaired the diesel tank. Apart from that I'll change the oils, filters etc and give it a good going over with the grease gun and see how she goes. Makes it sound all too easy Doesn't it! Cheers for now, Davie.
  17. I think I'll just run over them with this wee beastie!!
  18. Hi there, my name is Davie, I live on a farm near Auchendinny which is ten miles south of Edinburgh. I have an Albion CX22s which I am fixing up, also have a Land Rover 109 11A. I have been meaning to join this forum for a while now, tonight I have been prompted to do this by the post about the tyres. My Albion needs a full set. Any way, enough waffling for now, I'll try and post some pics of my motors in the near future. Cheers for now.
