Hi all,
i have had visits to look at the collections in the hangers and the workshop areas as well as behind the fenced off areas and i am tending to think that people here belive there may hoards of hidden gems stored there, though some times they do i.e on one visit (sorry Brit armour guys) there was a nice origonal stug 111 with coating of zimmerite antimagnetic paste a quick inspection it appeared very origonal yet in the museum they had displayed a post war Finnish version as this one was going else wher for display.
With this thought in mind i think you will find all what you call interesting armour in the reserve collections would most likely be on loan to other museums/collections, though a visit is well worth while and i for one would go again.

[quote name=If you need to tow heavy things and need to go off road then buy a Landcruiser or Landrover , anything else is just a compromise
I must admitt when i brought my frontera ( after production ceased) and can`t really fault it for pulling power and nice to drive, it seemed at the time many of the 4x4 `s had a very low towing capability.

Certainly could be some nice pieces there with a bit of TLC and a little monies spent.

Hi all,
I belive that one from the "home front" should be made to honour all those who worked behind the scenes (so to speak). As far as i know one hasn`t been done but there again i could be `to young to remember` :-D

Due to shortages of materials towards the end of the war it was quite commom place for Ersatz items to be proudced from inferior quality goods,to include leather belts/equiptment made from compressed cardboard, and as you mentioned vehicle cabs made ply or cardboard, i witness this many years ago as at the Trun scrapyard the border hedge rows had sections of these cabs in the brambles to form a fence.

On the Monday morning "Deutschland uber alles" was played through the P.A. at approx 07:00 hrs system from the direction of the arena. Luckily the German re-inactors are known not to be politicaly influenced !!

Put my tent up around someone's car transporter trailer, which they wouldn't move (like i'm sure this shouldn't be on the showground). QUOTE]
I rember this as it was my trailer which was brought in to the show ground ready for loading up after being at the ground most of the week and needing a smart getaway in a space that had been empty all week and when i returned to camp you had began to place out your guy lines, so it is not a case of not moving it.
If you had a long journey, got held up and wetter at the booking office i am afraid it wasn`t caused by the trailer.

don't think I ever seen the Red Arrows in action.
Looking forward to that one.
Hi Enigma,
have seen thier displays many many times over the years from childhood and they have never yet failed to impress me.
When you know they are in the area all the birds go quiet then within seconds they are upon you, as they use hurn airport quite frequently i expect they fly over up to 6 times a year.
