  1. Hi GlosterMB,

i use a brian james car trailer and can`t fault it at all, if you have alternative uses for it a plant or sided trailer is the way to go (though it is easier to push on to a car trailer if need be) depending on storage available and of course price. For the weight get a twin axel and if our buying second hand check the axel weights on the data tag and stay away from "home builds"

Nose weights can be measured by scales brought from caravan accessory stockist but the nose weight can be adjusted by which position the vehicle is placed on the trailer but do get it right.

If you have not done so yet find plenty of room to practice reversing.

    Cheers

  2. once apon a time...

when i was helping out at an atletics centre one of the lads brought in his speedway bike to try out on the redgrav track during linch break. Took days and hard graft to restore it back to its former glory :embarrassed:

One saturday afternoon i had to cancle the leauge bowls match when a car ploughed through the hedge on to the green, but the two very young joyriders manage to run off pretty smartish

  3. Hi,

i think you need to nominate your lad as loading assistant :D as witnessed with your restricted view loading was fairly diffulcult especially in front of a crowd.

    Nice setup though looked good

  7. Another favourite trick played on these poor unsuspecting people, was to remove one of the bed sheets, and turn the one remaining sheet back up from halfway down the bed. When the intoxicated sprogg tried to slide down into his bed, he could only get halfway down, they would eventually go to sleep with their knees up under their chin.

It all seemed quite funny at the time.:kissoncheek:

In my day this was known as an apple pie`d bed, new comers were prone to this one also if you were mucking about out side the dorm after lights out two members would sneak back in to apple a bed, when the house master or prefect made an appearance you had to get back into bed a.s.a.p. and the silence was broken by a resounding ripping noise as some ones foot tore the sheet apart :D.

Explanations to matron in the morning :embarrassed: ! buffing the floors after roll call:sweat:

  8. Thats interesting. I wonder if it was a genuine bronze V.C., or a Hancocks copy which they sell for £300 or so. If a genuine one, it could form the basis for a Lovejoy antiques scam.

    Hi

yes it was the genuine article.

  9. Many years ago while at my local medal shop, by prior arrangement an un-named V.C. was brought in for an opinion.

Though i could look briefly but not touch one of the assembeld took a look at the cross and stated This medal should be labled "Stolen from Hancocks" as at some time i belived he had been / was employed by the company and could not understand how it had been removed from the company with out any one knowing. But they are out there.

  10. Yes the naughty crowd who were renaming waterloo medals, decided to go live in spain.

But one was apperently shaving off 1WW stars and renamining to replace missing ones to gallentry groups as well as 1ww war medals.

    Ashley

  11. As a general rule all the 1WW medals were officially named unlike the the 2WW issue (except for some of the colonial issues i.e. Canadian).

Post 1WW war medals were sold off to help families survive etc to save embarresment names were erased, also years later when re-unions were held medals lost/sold /stolen were replaced with re-named ones.

There was also a problem in the late seventies/early eighties where a well known dealer was erasing and re-naming medals to command a higher premium >:(

  12. What was Windsor Boys School is alas no more. The whole site has been flattened and redeveloped and part of it is now a fire station. Quite the best school I ever attended.

Up to the mid seventies when i left the school the part of the camp behind the gymnasium was a reservist fire depot with several trucks and other vehicles (some of WW2 period) i can remember entering the buildins and removing literally armfulls of german helmets which were painted flouresent yellow with WW2 stamps on the liners.

These were conficated by the staff and eventually sold to raise monies for Oxfam for a disaster in some forign country (so we were told) i can also remember having folders of files relating to local land issues of the same period.

    happy days
