  1. Hi all,

as modern vehicles are fitted with a fitted loop to attach a breakaway cable to i would belive it illegal not to use it.

But the term `break way` cable is that if the trailer becomes unattached it will apply the brake.

We at work have not attached a cable to the tow ball for several years but always the tow bar itself.

  2. Note,

with mulching mowers (tricycling units, normally a retro fitted kit ) they are very good but they do require more precise cutting conditions to be truely effective and are better with rear discharge decks. sayig tha twe use ours(fitted on JD 740) no matter what the weather.

like most things you pay for what you get.

  3. Hi

if your lucky you may find a set of small gang mowers which are driven by the land wheels usually in a set of five.

You may want to try a small concerne for a second hand machine, rather than a main dealer of give the local council aring ..you never know :)

As for the cutter there is a myriad of differnt type of cutter from the basic swipe (on 3 point linksge) to towed units

Thanks guys. Lots of info to go 'armed with' to a showroom tomorrow. The place we are looking at is near colchester but we are currently near cambridge, so i am going to look at a showroom in bourn (AJ&R Scambler and sons) just to get an idea. The prices of compact Tractors are sort of eye watering (i shall have to kiss goodbye to an APC from withams then) and the second hand ones dont seem much cheaper. You get below 5k and they start looking really rough, and thats without the price of the wam / topper for the back. The new ones seem to be too much all singing and dancing with levers for everything but missile launch. But then i will have to see what they offer. The ground at the moment appears to be topped. I dont quite like how its fininshed, i dont mean that from an aesthetic point of view because its for grazing not croquet, but it seems a little to rough grazing. not so bad for a sheep but geese like it short and sweet. Im alright for time in the sense of cutting and will use a push mower for the house lawn. I did ask if i could just drag summit behind the landy, alas not possible.Again many thanks guys.Cam
  4. Having that Scammell / Valentine combo along would not be a second best option, it would look great and should be quite a draw for a large non military audience. Go for it Rick!

    Hi,

there was a scammell trailer combo here in Dorset for sale a few years ago (complete with sexton) of wartime vintage

as far as i know it is still here. The owner found it difulcult to drive being 80+

  5. Steve,

heed the advice given here and please do all you can to keep your hard earned memento`s/awards, you will regret it if you part with them maybe not now but certainly in the future. Sorry t hear of your predicament, hope all turns out well.

  6. Hi,

Gordon_M has summed it up nicely. You can search the forum for other posts on this topic, but iam afraid the answer will be the same.

There have been adverts (occaisonally) for small trailers for sale it may be just keep looking around for the one that fits the bill. It tok me over a year to find a trailer for my jeep basically due to cost as they are never that cheap.

    sorry

  7. To frends old and new at the plains weekend a big , also to all the organisers who put in the time and toil to make it happen once again.

Chef Ives for keeping us fed and watered (the less said about the incomming salvo if cereal bars the better) with his assistant Kim and portion control Rambo who also kept the vehicles safe by patroling with the dog at the museum (she hasn`t been the same since eating the digestive biscuits)

Now after the drive on the plain feeling has returned to me rear end :-X

Thanks again to all see you next year.

  8. Hi All,

local jungle drums announce at Red Arrow plane crash near Hurn Airport and the fatality of the Pilot ?

National news stations repot from local police that there has been an incident near to the airport but no further information available at present.

  9. But it wasn`t only monies that were taken by the US as Britian had to surrender several key land bases, (and basically break up the commonwealth) also land belived to contain rich mineral / fosil fuel deposits and even to the shutting down of the British space misile program post war which was very far advanced, one well known base which was on the Isle of Wight.

There was quite a good TV programme about this topic a few years ago where the goverment of the time literally sold out the U.K beliving that the US would not want to collect after thr conclusion of the hostilities as allies but they were greatly mistaken.

  10. I wouldn't claim to be an expert, but it certainly isn't saying real to me. The shape of the shell looks slightly wrong and the liner suspension rivets are far too 'domed'.

    Also obviously new paint.

Not to mention `new` (read repro) liner and `new` chinstrap.

  11. Hi,

the cardigan as far as i know was a `V `neck pullover (we had wartime dated one issued to us in the cadets in the early seventies) not that i have seen an origonal one for many years. though the middle east variety are more available.
