    Folks,

A dear friend of mine owns a WW11 German mv and is trying to get it complete for the show season but is having some problems with it that he can't solve.

Dave isn't a member here yet but will get him to login. He asked me if we could help. I was going to offer my services but thought that I would give everyone else a chance to solve it first......:coffee:

    So here are the problems....

    It's a 6 cylinder diesel engine.

Problem 1: Running excessively smoky which may be due to the injector spacing

Problem 2: When driven there is a thumping noise which would appear to be coming from the front off side of the vehicle. It increases/decreases with speed. My thoughts are a worn hub or universal joint as the differential is fine.

Problem 3: When idling, the engine produces a clunking noise which I can't locate!

It also needs a basic service/check as the head gasket has recently been replaced.

I said to Dave that we would have this solved in no time!

Any help would be very very appreciated!

    Kind regards,

    Jack.

  2. and can we have seating just for WW11 vehicle owners please:cellphone:

    - and not near the Champ Camp please :help:

    Cheers.

    Jack.

  3. Hi all, I have a green ( if that's any help ) 3 cylinder Lister diesel engine, and need to carry out an oil change, would anyone know what the recommended oil to use in it is, and how much of it ?

The next question you are all going to ask is what type is it !!!! I have no idea, might get some pics later today, so can anyone point me to a web site which shows the different engines ?

Hmmmm in contest with Jack then...... as he goes for a stationary engine when the price of fuel rises :-D

  9. Yes but in the current economic down turn all this sort of stuff will loost value and things will become more readily accesible for the less financially influenced among us.

However tanks and such things willcontinue to make lots of money and i have to admit if mynumbers came up the first thing i would do is bugy a sherman no doubt.

    What does everyone else think?

HHMMMMM do not agree with this, it seem more of a case of .......

money in short supply + [some areas of work in short supply] = high prices to compensate for the possible { lack } of work in the future...talking to some people in the building trade

There is one at Bovington Tank Museum, it could be one of the two shown as it is just down the road from Studland.
