  1. OK Will, I think it is time for you to give us the "now" condition picture :cool2:
  2. Noooooo, don't upset Snapper - he's not called Snapper for nothing...:shake:
  3. Can anyone tell us who made the body for Will's Milly (sorry, ALBION:n00b:) ? If it was Webb, I have an idea....
  4. 6x6, very clever of you to leave just the front tow hook poking through the tarpaulin. Had me fooled. I do however still have the manufacturers plate so a clone will appear magically from the heap of spares trucks - just wait till you try to register it....
  5. Maybe, Stormin, but you've got me going now, as I have a spare V555 and hadn't given it a thought till now :argh::-D  Catweazle, is your "185" the V504? The V555 is 200hp in industrial application (e.g. RF's crane), not got a clue about automotive ratings though.
  6. I'm certain that your thoughts on altering the axle/spring set-up are correct , 6x6 (am I still ok for a Xmas card then?). Also for example Lang Wheels of Uxbridge made all manner of very similar looking trailers for mobile power generation (and using 8 not 16 wheels).
  7. Reminder to self - check under tarpaulin in the morning to make sure Constructor has not been replaced by a pile of cardboard boxes.....:nono:
  8. :cool2: Methinks V504 or V555, ideal motor for a WLF - good power, great sound and high revving. Possible problem with fouling of steering box? If you're serious Stormin, I could have a quick measure up.
  9. If you keep it as a tipper and install remote control you can still sleep in it, but turf yourself out of bed in the morning, Wallace and Grommit style. Welcome to the madhouse, Will.
  10. Out of interest, Tim - what does an Eagle trailer look like? Is it a solid tyred version of a Dyson drawbar drag?
  11. Tell the chap he needs to get rid of that ERF recovery truck pronto (I'll be happy to oblige :cool2:)
  12. Well, for starters they look like models of War Dept bogies. But then I'm stuck!
  13. If I had bought Bishop's T (dream on....), I think I would keep it just as it is (ok maybe without the pigeon sh!t) - one of the best looking and proportioned T wreckers I've ever seen.
  14. If you have the part number John, I can check against Ward laFrance ones. These are available in Europe as either N.O.S. or new items. But in any case I'm sure these will be available in USA through any truck / construction plant components distributor. Just give them the O.D. and number of holes, and  (This refers to the diaphragms, I've not tried for the boots yet)
  15. A very convincing argument, 6x6. The underslung spring arrangement is certainly not unkown - e.g. Crane 45/60T drawbar lowloader axles and other types. But you could well be right on this one, difficult to say without actually "seeing and prodding it" so to speak. This would then put the original drawbar height at more like the typical army tow hook height, so might this then be one of the numerous ex army tank trailers which were used in large numbers by early postwar heavy haulers such as Siddle Cook etc? No, just checked some books and the trailer is nowhere wide enough to be one of these Over to Antony (who is probably still struggling with the DT 969 tarpaulin....)
  16. You have the Hills of Botley book too then, Mike....
  17. That looks like the Hills of Botley machine, Les - some other views shown on this thread before. But the only view I've seen showing the boom properly :
  18. No, No, avoid the temptation - No, No, avoid the temptation - No,No, avoid the temptation - No, No, avoid the temptation....
  19. Never mind the MOT, the annual Building Regs test is the one to worry about...
  20. Well if it is any help, you're not the only one. Identical situation last week with our local old boy who travels around leaving envelopes and collecting later. I too told him about the campaign and it was news to him too. But he was delighted that NVA and HMVF were proactive. That guy along with many others put in a lot of effort at this time of year, and are happy to collect 5p or £5. in the same way as some of the forum members who have and will continue to collect at shows, sometimes for seemingly small amounts of donations. But they all add up. But to your point Dave, you're wrong to think like that, OK? I often find myself doing things for a bit of a "FEELGOOD" factor. But in the case of the Beaches thing, it was a completely instinctive response, driven by respect and gratitude and I suppose partly by the momentum that is HMVF. You didn't feel the need to tell him you'd written a cheque out for £400, did you? Of course not, but you were really chuffed to be able to tell him that a group of ethernet misfits linked by a whacky interest in 'the green machine' were busy facilitating some veterans' return to the beaches, weren't you?:
  21. So Jack, either we gotta have a modelling section or a decent coffee machine in the clubhouse........
  22. Erm, these Autocar seat bases I'm posting to you tomorrow - any chance of getting them done before Amelia's pram cover? :n00b:
