  1. Capt Heather Stanning has won a Gold medal with her team mate, in the Olympics. She is with the British Army
  2. I would suggest trying an agricultural machinery dealer for EP90 oil
  3. Due to the design of the front output on the transfer box, the bushing in the flange will wear out short time if it does not turn together with the shaft when in 2WD. i have posted some horror pics on here before, when an MJ was front suspend towed, without the rear propshaft removed. Will have to dig them out again just to enlighten you MJ owners!
  4. Jack, and there's more ........ http://www.wdnorton.nl/Compulsory_reading.htm
  5. Jack, An old boy who lived near me, now sadly passed away, was involved with DR bikes in the signals in N. Africa, he wrote a book of his exploits, see this link; http://www.abebooks.co.uk/book-search/author/jack-dienst/ Jack still rode a Norton 16H and later a Matchless G3L up in to his Eighties and attended local MV events.
  6. Hi Woody, Good to see you on here. You could probably tell a few tales of odd experiences in Beltring arena over the years. regards, Richard
  7. Thanks Andrew, a MCC C8AT would be a rare piece in Aus anyhow.
  8. Andrew, The last pic on your post showing the Humber ........ is that a Morris Commercial PU 4x4 lurking in the bushes? The surroundings look more UK than Victoria! regards, Richard
  9. Hi Andrew, The engine rebuild plate you show, has the correct part number for a 4x4 Heavy Utility, it was a Rootes factory rebuild and the colour you describe as "duck egg blue" is officially Sky Blue and was introduced around 1950 for rebuilt engines (and some new ones) to replace another standard colour called Eau-de-nil, which had a greener tinge to it. I restored a Snipe staff car and it had a rebuild plate similar to yours on the engine, but a few years earlier, and had Humber on it, not Rootes (same company of course). This engine was painted a sort of grass green colour also on the inside of sump, timing cover and tappet covers, so a factory colour. Other Humber military vehicles I have worked on show black chassis, engine and gearbox from new. Did you find the LRC in Australia ? regards Richard
  10. Steve, A similar thing happened to me, on my WM20. It would have been around 1984, on my way to Portsmouth for a show. Stopped at Wisborough Green, for a break, and went to start it, no spark. After a lot of fiddling I decided to call the RAC recovery. They were quite busy and not able to reach me for an hour or so. After a while, I tried again and the bike started, so I had to huriedly call the RAC back, they were good about it and said to call again if I had further trouble. Carried on to the show, with no more trouble. The return journey was non-stop all the way .......... and the magneto was changed, never had a problem after that. regards, Richard
  11. You have got two years to paint it green ........ should be plenty of time
  12. The reason there is still a lot of M20 parts around is due to the Army retaining the BSA and Matchless machines and keeping them in military service for another 15 to 20 years.
  13. the lower rubber stud is for when the flap is dropped down, could it be a hand held sign, perhaps for traffic control? By opening the flap it reveals an instruction maybe?
  14. Clive, On Saturday night, was that gear you were wearing, a way of combating pollen?? :undecided:
  15. Thanks Joris, I will be in touch with you shortly.
  16. Robert, Here is some links; http://www.thewarandpeaceshow.co.uk/gallery/John_Blackman/jb1/ http://www.thewarandpeaceshow.co.uk/gallery/John_Blackman/jb2/
  17. Hi Dave, It is many years since we last met. Good to see you are still active with mv's. regards, Richard
  18. A possibility ............ I have known people have rads recored and the core is of insuffient capacity, less tubes in other words. the look OK at a casual glance, but often you notice the difference in weight. This will obviously have a huge effect on the ability to cool.
  19. A leaking flywheel seal will produce a vapour not unlike smoke. I was at an airshow once and the Saracen next to me started up and was emitting this whitish "smoke", when all of a sudden the fire crash tender arrived and was all for extinguishing it. The owner was unaware of the cause, until I pointed out that it was in gear with the handbrake on and the flywheel oil was overheating blowing past the seal.
  20. Thats the way I was looking at it, Gordon
  21. Gordon, The fan looks correct for drawing air from rad over the engine.
  22. Peter, I was down by the Medway yesterday, and the river level was not that bad, I suspect that Lee is near the stream that flows past the shower block and down alongside Monktons fields. We will await further info. The Americas Field was in very good shape on Sat morning.
  23. Ah, the disadvantage of being the youngest mod ! ............ Milk and 2 sugars for me please
