  13. Cat C licence isn't a cheap option. Medical, theory test, then practicaL practical instruction and test. Say around £2000. The theory and hazard perception test certificate are valid for two years so you should consider getting that out of the way before starting practical, the LGV Handbook and LGV?PCV Theory test book from HMSO The advantage is that may also earn you a living. That will require an additional CPC. The whole CPC is a face saving device from Europe, the value of it improved skills are nil. The Artic test is now the Cat C plus E (trailer ) entitilment.
  14. Just had a look in the Range Rover manual. Early 4 speed main manual box with limeted slip diff. Hypoid SAE 80EP. Later four sped SAE 20W/50 Transfer box. Early four speed ltd slip diff SAE90EP later 20W/50 Hope this of some use.

  19. Did Peugeout make a van version of the car? Reason for aking, there is a picture of some Luftwaffe vehicles in Jersy on the Jersey Holoucast Menrorial site. From teh CIOS libary, one is a van with a similar if not identical front.
  20. The thing is most people get it the wrong way round. The ammunition is designed first, then a gun to chuck it out of. The need is to defeat the oppositions latest armour. So a Ballastician designs a new shell and propellant, the enginner then has to design a breech to hold the charge in,physical and explosivly, a new rifiling set, a new barrel to stand the weight and speed of the projectile, consider that you are chuking a lump of metal from standstill to 1000g in les than a heart beat. Then produce design drawings, then manufacture one and fire the beast, then sort out all the little problems you hadn't considered. Then re tool then allocate materials, including somewhere a new alloy or process, bet on it. Then start changing the vehicle to fit the whole new contraption. That it happned at all in five years is a miracle!
  21. Welcome Carmen. The Dodge parking always has room for another, we just squash another Jeep.
  22. I have a copy of the ambulance supplement for the 101. Can't remember where it came from. I'll dig it out and pass on the info. Babel fish will translate whole web pages.
  23. There are some new EEc regulations coming in concerning Private HGV's. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of them. The main concern seems to be 'REST'. Defined as time which you do what you want. The trouble may arise if you are working all week, then drive your toy. Have you had suficent 'REST'? The current idea sems to be that you can claim driving your toy for fun is rest. Don't know how it would stack up though. Currently though, CPC's are only required if the MAIN part of your job is driving PCV or LGV commercially. If it is only part of the job ie you are a PCV, LGV mechanic, and only drive them to and from workshops or on tests, or your a scaffolder :shake: you don't need one. Confusing or what?
