  1. I live near there, part of the concrete supports are still there, no sign of the Champs though , although I had several in the 90's without realising that they were used there on the river bank.
  2. Yes, hire a motorhome over here and drive it over!
  3. A few years ago I sold my Ferret to a German buyer, he arrived from Germany with his car and a 9 inch grinder with a supply of thin blades, Cut out 2 letterbox slots ,one where the Driver sits and one near the radiator, He had the drawing from the Officials of where to cut. He then put the 2 letterbox bits in his car :-D (well he had paid in total!) and went back to Germany. Lorry arrives and that was the last I saw of it. Things may well have changed since then but that is what happened at that time.
  4. Hi Adrian, many thanks for your hospitality and for finding the control box for me , it was great having a look around all your kit at the same time too, much appreciated:-)
  5. Loved that, great pictures ,thanks for posting:-D
  6. That picture made me laugh, brilliant engineering, excellent workmanship but propped up with the normal bit of wood!:-D Looks a great project so will follow with interest. well done.

  8. If you pay for postage I would be happy to lend it to you for a while,
  9. If they didn't want it, you would think they would have had the manners to say so
  10. perfect Adrian, I will ring you this coming week to come over if you are likely to be about?
  11. Thanks Adrian , that would be great. fingers crossed
  12. The control boxes were not in the kit, the instructions that came with it (dated Nov.44) show fitting with a Control Unit No. 16 and a No.17. I happen to have a No. 17 but am looking out for a No. 16 if anyone has one for sale. Thanks for all the info
  13. Thankyou for that, most interesting and I was unaware about the trays, The instructions that came in the box are dated Nov. 44. I will be fitting it I think, so it would be nice to get it right. Amazing what you can learn here in such a short time:-)
  14. I agree , but they do do it, the tax will just be another way of getting extra months out of us all>
  15. Short term 'visitors' to this country often buy cheap cars with tax in the window then FAIL to insure them and just chance it until the tax runs out. They are not bothered if caught because they do not inform DVLA that they even own the car. If caught they walk away on a false name
  16. Yes good news Lauren, I will be looking for Control box No.16 and a few leads and then it looks like I am sorted. I already have the 17 Control unit. Keep your eye out for me, see you on the 8th.
  17. It also stops people who buy cheap vehicles with a bit of tax on and then don't bother to insure them
  18. It would seem that it is a NOS 38 radio unit, a power unit and full fitting kit to run through the 19 set including the aerial so a result for me after all.:-D mind you it wasn't what i thought I had bought!!
  19. Thanks for that, a great help. Now looking into it a bit more.
  20. Today I bought a boxed installation kit for the 38 set. It says 'for the installation in Armoured Fighting vehicles for comms. with infantry units with No.38 sets. It is fitted in addition to the Wireless set No. 19 , operated by the same mike and switchgear' My question is, as this all was unopened and complete would this have been a common fitment to the 19 set? And who carried the 38 set? It has lots of bits including a full box of spare valves to fit the pieces. I am, as you may have realised, not a radio man! Thankyou
  21. These brackets are a common part sold by numerous manufactures and were welded on to suit the cages. I can find a picture of cage wheels somewhere if you are not familiar with them.
