  1. As a newbie (albeit ex RAF) I have only been to one W+P and was comfortable in plain greens. The thing is that in the arena for the displays the field gun teams etc were superb and it would not have been the same if they were dressed in jeans. It is after all practical clothing for the environment. Dave
  2. I agree. Laughter type 1 : From politicians who go 'Ha' that will stop them. Laughter type 2 : From criminals who go 'Ha ha, that will make f**k all difference to us' Laughter type 3 : From law abiding enthusiasts who weep with frustration at the stupidity of those who make the law. The supposed mandatory sentence for those with an illegal firearm is 5 years, yet the father and son who supplied 3000 firearms to the underworld only received 7 years. In America they would never see the light of day again yet how many of us have had problems with firearms officers (I have). .....wanders over to the kettle, pours tea and tries to get rid of the vein that has appeared in side of neck......
  3. Hi Chaps, I have got a complete Larkspur set up including C13 which, I believe, is working but it is not in the Ferret now. I have been offered some Clansman Kit in exchange. I already have a Clansman intercom fitted and want to intsall a radio so I can talk to others out there. What should I ask for the Larkspur kit and what is a good exchange (what do I need)? Thanks for your help Dave
  4. Be very careful if you do manage to get hold of ether. It is nasty stuff and very very volatile, you can easily cause an explosive mixture if used / stored in an enclosed area. Normally it is only sold under licence. Use easy start every time.
  5. Most people I speak to, don't bother. Must admit that I intended to but haven't. Are there any opinions or horror stories on here
  6. One for me please...... Dave
  7. Its not the moving of the vehicle that is the problem, maybe a couple of flat tyres and seized brakes, but the lady has a mound that she needs flattening! Mark was going to try the 432 but it needs something with more push.
  8. Well, neither of us had a camera when we went to see it - looks a bit sad, had been standing in a field for at least 4 years. Mark is going to pick it up sometime soon but he did run off smiling and clutching a folder full of paperwork :-D
  9. Mark, The Landy doesn't seem too bad, hope it is of some use to you. How much stuff was there in the paperwork?? dave
  10. Chaps, There is a lady at work who has an old Landrover in her field which last ran about 4 years ago. I believe ex military, it is a V8 and I think tax exempt from the age. Papers included. I can get more details. She wants to get rid of it and has told me that there is a mound of earth in her field that she would like flattening if anyone has something to do it with????? It is near Maidstone, Kent. Drop me a line if you are interested in it. Dave
  11. Thanks guys, that was easy. They are German, my dad picked them up during the landings but I couldn't figure out the wood tips.
  12. To make it more difficult there is no photo :schocked: This is because I am having trouble putting a picture up.......I know, I know....I have read the idiots guide that was posted. Anyway. I have rifle rounds which are case length 57mm with a flush rim at the base ie not proud like a .303 the bullet head is wood and stained purple and machined to exactly profile a round nose head. Case markings are: P370 IX W1 2 37 I know the country of origin and the era is 1940's but what they are for I do not know, It is not a one-off as I have several of them. Dave
  13. Was it to lift a line that could be picked up by an aircraft? To retrieve items when an aircraft couldn't land?
  14. Calcium carbide + water = Acetalene gas (for lighting or heating)?
  15. Ok Ok Ok, first of all, my computer skills are :computerterror: Then I tried to take a decent photo but need good daylight. Artificial and flash are just not getting the resolution as the round is a rifle round. Wait until the weekend 'cos its too dark when I get home.
  16. 'Rig for economy 7? ' Nah, just have it permanently rigged when parked up and on a timer for 1 hour a day just to keep things ticking over. I try to run it up every 7-10 days for a couple of minutes and work the brakes etc.
  17. I'm tryin' but don't hold yer breath :shake:
  18. What a great thread. If only I can work out how to post pictures, I have some wartime rounds that someone may be able to identify. Dave
  19. OUT? If the lid comes off she will need to be more than just out.   Just imagine trying to clean that lot up while knowing she is on the way home soon :shake:
  20. Fred we need to talk. I can help with your starting problems and you can help me with radio set up as i have now got some more Larkspur stuff. Dave @ Maidstone
  21. Fred which battery is it? Under the charging point or under the air filter. I have a spare you can borrow and it is a lot easier to change with two. Give me a bell and I will come over. Dave
  22. Peter, I hope you are able to buy the Ferret. I have had mine for 8 months now and it is such fun. There will be problems but there will always be an answer or help from someone on here. Dont look back and think that you had the chance but never did it. Good luck David
  23. If you mean John DEWS who has an operation near Yalding then I have his number. Drop me a PM. Dave
  24. My wife and I were married in Denmark and have always been treated magnificently. When my brothers wife wanted to speak german to a waiter - she was told politely but firmly 'You will get much further in Denmark if you speak English'
  25. Just close the rear hatches when it is really cold and wear goggles. :goodidea: A scarf to keep the bugs out of your teeth when you are grinning is also essential. Give my regards to Copenhagen - I got married there. The resistance museum and the weapons collection in the war museum are superb.
