This is the stuff I have Pawel as recommended by another forum member and bought by post from a model shop in a town called Swindon......"BUT" firstly I have never given it an extreme test like you and always avoid petrol getting on parts as best I can. The other thing is that Health and Safety rules dictate that these products must now be safe for a toddler to drink!!! The owner of the model shop told me that the original product had changed to meet new H&S regulations and the name was slightly changed.......And now I can't remember if I have the original or the modified product? Maybe someone else can enlighten us? Ron

I'll put my high lift cams back in! Ron

Steve you can hardly notice when they're fitted. It's whether you can live with yourself when you're riding along on cheap old G3L plates.......But at least the weight saving will make for better performance 😀 Ron

Yep it's why they added the thickening strip where the mag platform fits. Ron

I can't remember where I got the spindles...Netley?? But it was some years ago. Still got things to do Lex! I'm waiting for a couple of cables for the WD/C, so that's nearly done, and then thinking of pulling the engine out of the CO again. Ron

My bikes all talk to me! Or at least there are voices in my head😜 Ron

That is what has happened Martyn. Your bike started out as a 3SW and someone has fitted a 3HW engine. It could even have happened in a REME workshop, but more likely by a post war owner. The frames are identical. Ron

It's not the illegality that I was alluding to Jenk. It's the bikes in my collection that were fitted with them originally during the 1939/40 period. Back then they often used the number plate for the C number.
I have a few original B&W RAF pictures. Some have roundels and some don't. The only picture I've seen of an RAF WD/CO there is no roundel, but I put one on mine anyway. Ron

The prewar Speedtwin will have a "Triumph" twist grip (Mine was 1938 6 stud barrel) The military bikes used standard Amal grips. Ron

Speak to Dave at JJ Cables. He knows what to make. Mention my name if you want.

I've just double checked both the male and female threads on my brake rod with a 3BA screw and nut and both spin on freely. My rod was on the bike when I bought it but as it was missing the top adjuster, it's very probably a repro from Metal Magic.
There is less than half a thou between 3BA and 5/32" and the tpi is very slightly different, so I guess the two won't screw together without force.

I've stripped/rebuilt many girder forks Steve. To my mind, the worst are the ones with side check springs and Royal Enfield with their Left and Right hand threaded spindles are bloody fiddly. Ron

Awww Shucks Jenk! Don't say that. I've got several WD bikes with their original front number plates🥴 They were deleted quite early though. Ron

Nice job Steve. A mate has made me a set of washers, coming Monday. They can sit on the saddle till I'm ready to take the links apart. Hey Ho! Ron

Not blue Martyn. All vehicles supplied during the war were in "Service Colour" Including RAF and RN. Ron

That's great Lex, exactly the size nuts I have fitted. (Steve the 23/32" AF equates to the 3/8 Whit spanner size) I could explain but probably confuse you all the more! I just need to get some of those thin washers if anyone has them or making them. Otherwise my mate will have to stoke up the old Myford. Ron

Lex what are the thickness of those washers please and also the depth of the nuts? I might have to get mine machined down a bit. Ron

Steve the grease nipple size will be 1/4" BSF. I can check the fork spindle nuts tomorrow, but you have some there to measure....Or am I missing something? Ron

For added information about the WD Triumph frame numbers. From pre war the frame number was stamped around the top rim of the headstock, and often repeated on the lug under the saddle. But from mid 1940 onwards, somewhere between frame numbers TL 17457 and TL 19652 it was moved to the left hand side of the headstock.
Here is a better shot of my 5SW and my earlier 3SW.

Yes now that I read Lex's post, I have also sprayed 2 pack clear mat lacquer over ordinary Simonize wheel silver (Aerosol). That must work as it's what auto sprayers use over the modern colour coats. Ron
