Brurry Irriott cooky boy! Hill's Angels were good too. Ron

Pawel I think end float for the crank is academic as it all pulled over to the left with the engine cush drive. But I think it's important to have the correct size bearing spacer. Ron

More like Blitish Reyrand in China!

There is an important spacer between the the bearings. #E510 Brian has made them so he said to email him for the dimensions. A seal was added to the 3HW main bearings which is always destroyed and no replacements available. However the outer bearing could be a sealed type with the inner seal removed.

From memory the forks have no bushes for the spindles? Don't they run directly metal to metal? If the forks wear, I guess they can be bored out and re-bushed, or maybe some slightly oversized spindles could be made as a compromise? Ron

re. Indian controls, there was a batch of 50 modified with Norton bars and controls, but never seen one, or a picture.

And I've often wondered what that might have been like and what the Hell difference it would have made??

I did wondered if their strange riding position habit was to try and replicate the riding position of the Indian's and Harley's that they were more used to? But seeing that 741 rider has got me beat!
But a piece of sorbo rubber on the tank did give them the facility to carry two Dutch lady passengers at once. Ron

It's a theory Philip. But with B&W pictures it's hard to tell. But I stick with my theory that since the war is probably over, they just repainted the left tank in shiny RAF blue/grey. As a token to reverting back to their own colours. The war had decreed that RAF vehicles should be in service green or brown. Ron

Same contract as mine. The correct Royal Enfield font and size stencils are now available from Axholme signs. Reference "Jan Vandevelde" if you contact them. https://www.axholmesigns.co.uk/
The paint code is BS 499 Service Brown. Paint conversion to nearest RAL number can be made here from colour range BS381C

I own and have handled quite a few original pannier frames and bags and from memory I've only ever seen one date stamped frame and at least one bag from a pair (Might have been both of them?) Ron
