  2. Hello N.O.S. will olive grab do for the grass or should I get a batch mixed. Speaking of which I managed to get the same olive drab as the Diamond t colour should be delivered this week. Will try and get a sample over to you, see what you think of the colour, its a more of a green than earth colour. Howard
  3. Thanks antarmike and paul Thats a nice photo, I have taken a further look at one of the bowsers and on the pump there is a sign saying petrol, but who knows. What I really wanted to find out is if the bowser was painted in RAF colours or painted in USAAF olive drab.It would be nice to get it right. Thanks again for the information. Howard
  4. Hi Jack Yep your right there they take the rust and paint off in seconds, I hate to think how long with a grinder or wire brush, you do have to be carefull on tinwork but at the moment I have not had Problem, going to attack the chassis at the weekend. Howard
  5. Well i have finally managed to locate and purchase a Sand blaster, and what a bit of kit it is, well worth every penny I have started to blast a few bits of the truck, I hope to get stuck in at the weekend, I blasted the spare wheel holder and as you can see the sandblaster does a great job of removing all of the rust and paint. well thats it for now will post more info as and when the truck gets done. Howard
  6. Hello Runflat Thanks for that I know that different bodys were fitted theres a mobile control trailer just down the road from were i live a the old Hospital site for Horam airfield, home to the 95th Bomb group. Regards Howard
  7. Hello Hanno Thanks for the tip I will see if i cant get the back issues, they may well help, I would like to know if the US used them or if they were just RAF. Joris I suppose its just luck being in the right place, I went there looking for a set of military 8 stud slit rims which i managed to get off another trailer, these are for the search light/radar trailer i am restoring. I came across the bowsers at the same time. The trailer I got the wheels off was quite interesting in that It just had one square steel beam from front to rear and the complete back section could slide up and down the beam to shorton the wheel base, the front end was a turntable steering with an Aframe draw bar. I recon it had been used for hauling long lenghths of timber. Well thanks for the info Howard
  8. Well back from looking at the Bowsers and here are a few pics, any information on them would be very helpfull, and should it have been a manual pump or would it have had a pump powered by an engine. There was a name plate on the bowser inside but the bowser outside had all of the plates missing.I will try and get the info off the other one when and if I get it home. Thanks Howard
  9. Hello Thanks for the other pic nice looking bowser, but not the same. Richard thanks for the advice on the trailer I am pretty sure its on Torsion bars, I am now off out over there to take a look and get some pics, so will let you know. Thanks Howard
  10. Hello gents I came across not one but two Brockhouse fuel bowers in my travels yesturday, one was in quite good order and the other had seen better days, Iam going back to take some pics, but i have found a pic of a model of one. Does anyone know if these are WW2 or are they post war. They have a cabinet at both ends of the bowser and in the cabinet at the back of the bowser is a pump with a handle similar to a starting handle, there are also gauges showing how much fuel has been delivered to what ever its refueling.I am going to see if they are for sale would they have been in RAf colours or would they have been used by the US.What ever I think it would be well worth saving. Heres the pic of the model. Thanks Howard
  11. Hello Paul

Finally got a grit blaster so the work can now commence. Regards Howard

  12. Well I am still here but not alot to report at the momment.I have bought a new set of AC spark plugs.Going to fit these tomorrow, i have done the points and given her an oil change. Soon as I start sand blasting ect i will post a few more pics. Regards Howard
  13. Hi Yep i totally agree I got tired of dragging a trailer around and then unloading setting up ect, once i have finished the chassis cab i can put my mind to the body and get it to how i exactly want it. This should then mean just pull up on the show ground put the awning up and job done.Well thats the plan. Howard
  14. Hello Jorris Yep one day she will look like this, I think these cabs look great esspecially with the workshop body. Howard
  15. Well I went over to the workshop this morning,I had to fit a starter motor to a generator, and then got on with the GMC I managed to get the rest of the truck blocked up so all wheels are now removed I have had all the hubs off and all brakes seem fine. I awaited for a friend of mine to turn up so i could bleed the entire brake system, this we managed to do I did have a problem with one of the unions but I managed to stop the leak. All of the brakes appear to work fine and I held on pressure to the brakes then looked for any leaks and I am pleased to say that everything seems fine.I decided to fit new points condenser and rotor arm. And on doing this the truck refused to run I double checked the gap infact I tried all manner of different things but it would only run on fitting back the old points ect. So god knows what was wrong there.I infact tried 2 new sets of points and both failed to start the truck. After this I had to call it a day on a promise to the good lady car hunting we even managed to decide on the car so another successful day. I may well do a bit tomorrow but we will see I am really waiting on information on a sand blaster so untill i get this theres not to much for me to do. I may well start stripping out the the shop van body. Well thats it for now.Oh yes i have managed to find a hard cab so i may well be getting this for the truck rather than have an open cab,if this does happen then my open cab will be available for sale plus some front wings ect. Howard.
  16. Well Jack I have Got to admit the handbrake linkage was all rather stiff but I put this down to standing, but perhaps it wasnt releasing correctly when the truck was being used. But I was supprised to see the band in such a worn out state.A new one is on the way, yet another order from Rex W. Howard
  17. Well I managed to get the new rear flexi brake pipes fitted tonight and also the the new exhaust down pipe and silencer, no pics forgot the camerra. All being well the wheels and other items like the bonnett and wings are being collected later this week for sand blasting. well thats about for now will keep you updated. Howard
  18. Hi ,Yep we have a few peacocks around the place, they like to see whats going on. Howard
  19. Hello Tony All i could lay my hands on at the time, and that was in the teleporter. Howard
  20. Hello Joris I would like to think so, going to work from the rear of the truck and work my way up to the cab and engine bay. Howard
  21. Well been up the work shop early this morning, decided just to strip out the Handbrake assembly, just as well one of the springs was broken and the lining on the band was down to the rivets. So another order for Rex Ward. Well thats all i did so untill the next visit. Howard.
  22. Hi I dont know about a couple of months but we will see how it goes I need to get the cab off at some stage, its just a case of removing oil pipes and a few wires, choke cable.I left the cab on for now so it is mobile. Now the chassis has been steam cleaned i am wondering wheather to shot blast it or just rub it down and prime it.I will see. Howard
  23. Hello Mark Your right the brakes have done hardly anything, I couldnt beleave it when i took the drums off.I was a bit supprised about all four flexy pipes being collapsed but not yo worry I should have the new ones delivered on Monday. Howard
  24. Well heres the update so far, the lorry crane that I was hoping to lift of the body was unable to make it. So undeterred I managed to get hold of a farmer and his trusty teleporter, so with a bit of juggleing and some round wooden posts to roll the body on we managed to get the body off the truck.Once the body was removed we placed it were it was covered untill such time i can get it in the work shop for repairs. Now the body was off the truck I got to work and steam cleaned it.With this done it is now in the work shop. I have managed to get it jacked up and all rear wheels removed and have removed all rear drums to inspect the brakes which are in very very good order. I have also removed all the rear flexi pipes and they all need replacing.Well thats about it for now I have attached a few more pics. Howard
  25. Will do, hope to post some pics on friday of the body being lifted off.Fingers crossed. Howard
