  1. Need some Kingpin Shims for my Banjo Axle 353 GNC Jimmy ...Bought some 0.030 from Rex but he doesn't have any smaller sizes .. Contacted some european dealer who have Shim packs but the Postage is Tantamount to DAYLIGHT ROBERY .. IE it will cost more for postage than the shims cost to buy ...:-X Anyone know of of a good European of US supplier who doesn't take the "P" when it comes to postage ...?? ken
  2. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=4goQqoLS5VM&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D4goQqoLS5VM&gl=GB take a look at the youtube link, if I recall that is tony Sudds Mix 1 .. I personal find that the matt paint scuffs a bit to quickly whereas the mix has a tougher finish ... lovely to know that it's still named after our lord and master The great Tony Sudds.. As for a accurate WW2 colour , well it's a fantastic match ..being very very close to several NOS parts I have on the shelf. ken
  3. Well unless its a Concourse Restro Don't bother ...Have you heard any Squeaks ????? Never included them on my restros and don't have any on my own jeep ...never had an issue and yes the webbing will retain water and help the tim worm get a good foot hold .
  4. Worth checking out a local independent auto paint supplier as they can match a colour for you ( just take a sample along ). can be a lot cheaper as I have found out .
  5. Used to say i was a TV News cameraman but these days I mostly shoot corporate Videos ...beats working for a living:D gives me the chance to show off my restorations .. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=4goQqoLS5VM&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D4goQqoLS5VM&gl=GB ken
  6. Yup its a great feeling ...that first startup and drive .. Done it twice with jeep...this being the last one ..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4goQqoLS5VM and just finishing a MG A... Now onto the Jimmy ...:red:
  7. Just bought a wiring harness from Rex so any assistance as to its shortcoming most welcome .. ken.
  8. Looking real sweet.... at the beginning of the war Both Willys and Ford had their own design of body tub ... in about mid 43 ...:-X:-X If memory serves me right ..a composite tub was made by ACM it showd features of the two tub types ... If you look at the difference in the front floor construction and TOP HAT reinforcing braces the ones on the repro floor are Ford and Standard ACM design .. ken
  9. I'm of the oppinion that if I'm part of a shows display then I should not be charged ... i have attended the Military and flying machines show organised by the Essex MVT since its inception, it's free for MV owners and Re enactors, that includes a place to camp and some basic services at the site. It only cost £20 ish for a family of 4 ... The show make a profit from the public who attend (some 15-20 thousand over the weekend ...) much of that money going to good causes and a small slice being held as a contingency fund ..as I understand I can't imagine that a show of that size is cheap to organise what with security /fencing - toilets, public liability insurance / a bill to clear up litter , Publicity etc etc .. Oh and a fantastic flying display ££££££££ Several years ago found out that the W&P site was covered in public footpaths so started using them as I felt it was a bit stiff to charge me £17 plus to go shopping ..I don't pay to go to Asda...!!!! Now saying all that .. I'm not adversed to coughing up a few...£5 ish max if the money is going to good causes but if the money generated is to fill the coffers of some individuals bank A/C .... NO !!!! Rant over..:cool2:
  10. Jon.... That's what the Flickr site is all about .. Vultures (Ian) site is a great boon to the workshop truck owner so please post your info and pix ..C.J. ...Captain jim PM received ... Jon ....will jump onto my Jimmy 1st jan as my MGA sports car is all but finished..Just sorted out a new inner windscreen and will hit REX with a big list of bits ...££££££ ouch .. Want to have her finished for Damyns hall as its a 3 day show this and last year they had cheep beer on the Sunday night ......so that makes it a 4 night event .. are you guys hitting Stonleigh ???? ken
  11. Sounds like you have a post war CJ engine in your jeep.. Having restored a couple of jeeps in the past I used a cheaper gloss OD paint as a base for a the much more expensive Tony Sudds OD.. shes looking great ..keep Up the great work .

  15. 19. Bloody hell old bean ....not far short of 200 GMC's ... Well done . As the owner of a workshop truck it nice to be able to compare and see other other similar vehicles that are still around .. Re the COE GMC's .... What's the thoughts. ? many thanXXX for the great pictorial reference that you have created. Adding things like Chassis No's, owners names .., alterations and engine picks would be a great advantage ... Love the videos within the blog ... How's about adding links to YouTube vids of jimmys, films etc I will have to take greater care next season to get more INFO pice for your blog and also the GMC Flickr page ..
  20. Ian ...I'd e mail him ...what's the harm ..also push for a better photo. Ken.
  21. Ouch ...! But a great photo . What N'o are we upto now Ian ...???
  22. You will need to remove the cross member that holds the gearbox and tranny ... We used a engine hoist to support the gearbox ( pushed it through the door opening , and removed the gearbox cover ) by using some straps/rope ..the gear box and tranny is one heavy lump. As mentioned ..wood block and yes it takes a little longer but taking out the rad will help with space ..
  23. Ok ...first things first ...get speell chuckr om mi computr. 150 has been dismantled :-(.. Sad, so sad. Well done on the site, you have made a flying start. I'm sure that by the start of the next season you'll have passed the 200 mark, it would be nice to add owners names and S'nos etc to each of the truck pluss info like scrapped or under restoration etc . Ken
  24. ... GMC 135 has the reg on the bumper I think .. Worth trawlingposts posts on variouse events within Europe as things like like tanks in town and Normandy quite often post pics of GMC,s and given the fact that they are ROAD events people need to keep their UK reg numbers on so you might spott some UK registerd vehicles ..suppose getting permission to us the shots s the most difficult thing.. End of the season for me so it won't be until next year untill I can start to collect more pics in general .. Ken
  25. Wow ...now that not bad in just a couple of weeks .. what do you think the total will be when you sift through all the shots you have been sent ..??? (Pic 125 ...If you look under the bumper you can just see the N'o plate ..) Love the link to the WW2 Video of the jimmy's being built .. keep up the great work . ken
