  1. Good Prog and looks like 3 jeeps used for filming .. £3.99.... Bargain
  2. ...................CJ comes to mind but that not to say Mr Bodgeit and Legit have not done a a quick conversion ... pics would help. ken.
  3. Will only be able to come along on the Sunday.. but looking forward to a great day. Make sure that the kettle is on mate .. ken..
  4. Gary, Re you You tube Clip ..That NUTTER was doing 25 + mph faster that the vehicles over taking you :-X.. The shame is that they will Kill someone in an Accident and probably walk away scratch free ... I'd Like to say they are the exeption to the rule ......But I do to many miles per year so see this type of driving too often. IMHO to many drivers drive are waching no further than the edge of their Bonnets Whilst it is impossible to to make our vehicles totaly safe and Visable to all other road users for the sake of a few quid Im prepared to try and help other road user Notice me and the Jeep .. I like the Marker Board and Flashing LED's on the back of the Jeep spare wheel (a page or so back) .. Im also going to clip on a couple of those cheap Bike lights that flash onto the Jeep Canvas Hood .. If I meet the " Youtube" driver I hope that Im in the GMC 353 .. Some good ideas comming through... ken
  5. As a photographer I don't want to have a 101 in the same shot as a GMC... the show is just a jumbled box of exhibits ...no thought no imagination .. because no one wants to spend some time to create a decent show.. This is a a perfect location and with 100% credentials.. How much do they charge to get into the museum ???? £18..??per adult I only go because I get in free with a MV on show days. Its no more that a Tesco's car park ..but worse than that the MV show is as far away from the entrance as you can get ... you have all that Roadway which runs parallel to the main runway along side the American museum , Aircraft referb hangers and Static aircraft displays... Im sorry but there is no thought about Product display and marketing ... EG how to show off our MV to the best ... think of the best museums ... theme parks you have visited .. who are they trying to interset at the show..?? other MV owners or the general public ...who are they trying to educate and inform ... stop preaching to the converted and start trying to interest and involve more of the general public ...
  6. On the whole, No Notch = Hotchkiss/repro tub BUT very early Jeep tubs ( willys ) also did not have a notch.. you could Google "Andy carter M201 Jeep " it has some great Hotchkiss jeep info .. also google "Jessie the jeep" again for some great general info .. If you can post some pics that will help also .. ken..
  7. Missed the show this year but friends said it was the same old TESCO'S car park situation ... Land rovers next to jeeps next to 60's British alongside post war American .. why bother filling in the form with all that info as to the date of your vehicle when the park them up on a first come first served basis... please be a little more creative with the parking .........
  8. Very Early Production GPW's ( early months of 1942) were a Mix of Ford and willys parrt due to the fact that ford had to tool up for production. After Ford had "tooled up" untill late 43 these were regarded as TRUE Ford jeeps and Totaly "F" marked .. (as mentioned the U.S gov forced manufacturers to remove Logos etc).. many parts remained "F" marked during production but by the end of the war many Ford Jeeps had very few "F" bolts but retained many other parts "F" marked .. or of a distinct " Ford" pattern ( rear locker boxes ..Wings rear footrests, Seats, grab handles, Gauges etc ).. so you Jeep will have a AMC Composite ( Non Ford )tub but with many ford marked parts ..
  9. Just a quick one re 2 jeeps having the same S'n.. The DVLA does not seem to recognise that Ford and Willys made the jeep and when trying to register a 45 GPW they said that the chassis number was already being used ...I Knew that Mine was pukker so thought that someone had done the same thing and just picked a number at random ... Turned out that the other jeep was a Mid 43 willys ....
  10. Try this ... http://jeepdraw.com/PART_COLOURS.htm
  11. There isn't much in terms of adjustment on a Jeep ..and Im trying to understand what you mean by Caster.. Firstly how much PLAY do you get on the steering wheel befor the wheels start to move .. an inch and a half is about right ..more and you may need to rebuild your steering box. Have you checked all the links from the steering box to the front axle pivot point .. they may have wear in them worth a full strip down and clean to check all the bits that makeup the steering linkage .. also work checking that your front swivel joints are ok.. and have enough oil/grease
  12. Oh arh... Nice ... That's the jeep not you ...In fact you look just like me ...Poor sod.. you could try this site to get a idea as to the make ( hotchkiss) ..or Willys /Ford jeep. http://www.m201.com/
  13. Yeh... the show is posted on the G forum... ( trouble is its an American site ).. Would like to contact Other Jeep forums both Civi and Military in the Uk .. The Film in the bottom of the Essex MVT site is mine ..I shot it for them last year.. this is also a Film I did for a Restro on a GPW.. you will find links to two Damyns hall Videos just below the main Jeep Video.. amy other thoughts...contacts .. ken
  14. Ok …. It’s more of a call for help and info rather than a “I may be stupid but”…. I’m trying to contact Jeep clubs in the UK Both Military and civilian from the earliest CJ2’s to the modern day… The Essex MVT is trying to gather as great a range of JEEPS to commemorate/celebrate the jeeps 70th birthday at it’s Military and flying machines show in August .. They want to show the development of the jeep and would like all types of jeep, American, French, Dutch, Indian etc etc .. Civilian and military.. If anyonehas any links/ info, web addresses, Forums pages etc and can post me a link or if you have a jeep ( GP,MA Slat, CJ’s other military and CJ jeeps of all nations) and would like to attend please visit the Essex mvt website site for more info .. ken
  15. The real event is the drive around the Airfield....:nut::nut::nut: Otherwise it's a bit like Sainsburys Carpark with very little thought about how to arrange the vehicles..............:cry::cry:
  16. I'd go Copper... I'd say the Gray ones will not have a re-enforcing edge around the piston holes.. I have always stayed away from NOS ones and gone for a Good modern reproduction. ken
  17. I almost half my insurance .. I Bought a Classic car Mag, went into the classified adds for Insurance Co's Instantly big savings ££££££ That was 3 years ago and my jeep (£10k value) is around £75.....

  21. Just thought I’d introduce myself… I’m Ken I have owned a jeep (m201) for about 13 years and have restored 2 GPW jeeps ( Nut and bolt ) with my friend Mark this being the last one ( he’s the driver). I have also helped/ been involved in restoring – re commissioning a Half track –GMC 353 and a dodge WC512 along with just helping mate out with their MV’s .. I’m a Professional TV cameraman by trade and have shot some Promos for a couple of MV shows also http://www.flickr.com/photos/willysmbdigibeta/ lost of Jeeps and other MV’s on my Flickr page .. I don’t get to as many MV shows as I would like but … am always willing …work quite often getting in the way.. Im sure quite a few of the South of England crowd will already know me .. Just bought my next restro project….. a GMC 353 open cab Workshop Truck …so thought I’d touch base on some other sites that deal with vehicles other than jeeps.. ken
