  1. To be fair to Matt I did pose the question and Iam sure they are his honestly held opinions but I was thinking more in terms of getting more (positive) exposure in the media. Degsy
  2. Hi MM What did you find? It might help others to cure faults. Good luck with the retest. Cheers Degsy
  3. Some accessory :!: It must be worth more than the truck
  4. Hi Matt I can see where you are coming from on the judging standards issue but many MV people are not interested in awards but merely want to enjoy their vehicles without worrying about the vehicle being exactly as it came from the factory. I can see both points of view and feel it is up to the individual owner to do as he or she thinks fit. I am very surprised that you should have found the movement cliquish as personally I have found it to be very friendly and most MVers will go out of their way to offer help and advice. I would not like to see the movement go too competitive as this has been the failing of many hobbies. These comments are merely a personal opinion and not a criticism aimed at you or anyone else. RB44

Hi Clive I think Martin means the Reynolds Boughton RB44 truck (although some in the Army might call it "or summat). It was a bit of a disaster. Cheers Degsy
  6. Well c'mon then Jack, don't keep us all in suspenders.
  7. I don't think we should fall into the British way of being too self critical, whilst I agree that there are faults, well thats life, nothing is perfect. We did get a lot of very good publicity in the past 2 years the various 60th anniversaries and we should try to build on that but other than attending shows, RBL and charity events etc what , if any, are the suggestions as to what we should be doing. :?: Cheers Degsy
  8. One of my customers has a truck which he will dispose of free. It was used as the garage breakdown and has a crane in the back. I believe it was abonded due to broken drive shafts and is now rusting away and overgrown but it must have a lot of usable parts if anyone is interested. Cheers Degsy

    What camera

Agree with Tim (1), I have found the Fuji F401 excellent. I am not into the technicalities of photography but the Fuji comes up trumps every time.
  10. Welcome to the forum, sure you'll enjoy it. A group of us from N.Wales are hoping to come over the water to one of your shows this year, we might meet. Cheers Degsy
  11. Yeh, but think of the FUN onthe way, worth every penny.
  12. Personally I rather like the idea of driving them there Jack   Cheers Degsy
  13. Hi Mark Welcome to the site, sure you'll enjoy it. With your experience I think you might have your brains picked. Cheers Degsy
  14. Hope you've got plenty of money Jack,it's an expensive business these days and you can no longer go straight to a class 1 (artic) licence you have to work your way up. Cheers Degsy
  15. Good point Steve, I will try to remember to check at work on Monday and let you know. Cheers Degsy
  16. Putting it onto computers is yet one more of Big Brothers ways of checking up on us and ultimately sending out summonses automatically if you don't get your vehicle tested on time.
  17. Hi Steve I would suggest that you find a tester who is used to Land Rovers, ie-your local non franchise LR garage or a tester of the "old school" who understands old vehicles and will use his discretion rather than the"do it by the book" type of test station. Cheers Degsy
  18. Hey Jack ,a quote from an old schoolmaster of mine "Every time I open my mouth some clot puts his foot in it." How does it feel :?:  Cheers Degsy
  19. Hi 4B I've remembered that James Taylor is the editor of Land Rover Enthusiast mag. Cheers Degsy
  20. Funny you should mention Land Rover wheels John, many years ago I lost a front wheel off the odl farm hack, a telephone engineer nearly had a seizure when it went between the ladder he was on and the pole, hit the bank and bounced back, pheeew :!:
  21. Hi SM Further to Tim's comments,in order to get a licence to own a rifle or shotgun you have to be able to prove a need ,eg pest control or target shooting and checks are made for good character and weapon storage security etc. This of course has no effect on crime for obvious reasons,it is just another example of the "Nanny State". Cheers Degsy
