  1. If it was driven (or trailored) on the M25 they must have some video on it. Pretty sure the police would not be interested now thats its recovered, but surely they are interested in what is still missing, and that video would lead them to that? Agree with others...really glad its back with its rightful owner...I did not think it would end this way....shows the power of the internet!!!
  2. it does not surprise me, but in your case thats definately a case of "avoiding paying out" rather than doing what is fair! I have heard stories of house contents insurance not being honoured when folk have been burgled whilst in their back garden because they did not have their house alarm set (for which reason I do not declare an alarm and take the small premium hit). Blatant lying on an insurance application is not only stupid, its totally irresponsible (if you do hit someone and your insurance is not valid, how will they receive recompense!). If in doubt, speak to your broker or the insurance firm direct...better safe than sorry.
  3. There was one on ebay the other year, complete in box and it sold for £800. There is one on there now for £900, and other sales of bits..you may get the missing parts?
  4. Yes, I camped out with the 101 club, and last year it was almost empty...this year it was rammed full...even included the Berlin Wall....like you say many folk would not have known it was there.
  5. I have to say we stayed in the Medway field, and the cleaners did a sterling job considering the amount of people, alcohol, burgers and hotdogs (never a great combination for the "constitution") and previous muddy conditions. They were cleaning them several times per day, and added extra blocks of toilets at the weekend. I do however agree that some could have been better, but they WERE better than previous years.
  6. I was going to say "tell your brother to pop over to Medway where there will be a bunch of other 101's", then realised you are my brother...doh!
  7. Good to hear its getting better down there, I will still swap out the bar grips for the petlas's just in case So after all those down-beat threads, it just seems it was the "wrong type of mud (copyright National Rail)" Any more photos Lee...kinda missing them.
  8. would that mean that HSE would not be too interested and we could play properly? Sounds OK to me Thats decided it for me....SEE YOU THURSDAY!!!! I am fairly sure the public car park will be ok, it seems higher up and very solid from what I remember......
  9. Wasn't it like that a few years ago...2007? It was damn muddy then and it was still a good show.
  10. it does seem that way...when it rains it gets boggy real quick, but it only needs a clear day and it all seems to dry out pretty quick. There is no such thing as bad weather, just a bad choice of clothing....and like you say, there will never be a shortage of peeps wanting to tow others out
  11. Looks like its starting to get busy.... will the be using that truck to clean out the portaloos
  12. if you heard what my missus said when I proposed getting a pig, and when I suggested her and the kids came along to the show for a night, you would not be saying that!
  13. I had exactly that problem, and I think it was Richard or Clive told me it was master cylinder....like you say, walk away and its all fine, a few hours later the brake lights are on. Swapped the master cylinder out and all was good. As for charging, there have been quite a few interstart cables for sale, and you can get them espacially cheap if one end is damaged/missing...ideal for putting some connectors on?
  14. all the bearings etc are on welded mounts on the plate...best to work out where those bearing are in relation to the hull...from what I remember and looking at plate K1 of the parts manual there are bearings to the left and right, and one straight ahead. Then cut the plate, drill the holes to bolt it on, and bobs yer uncle. The bearings are fairly easy to take apart, but will most likley be OK, mine was a complete wreck (fire damaged), but the ring and bearings were fine...it was in a worse state than your one looks. If you can afford the shipping I would check with banisters about the persiscope mount and gun mounts, he did have them a while back and the periscope mount does look a bit "weathered" on your one Richard also had a huge batch of bump stops for the turret door made up, so you could also get those. start soaking the hinges now
  15. I agree with Robin....turrets you can get hold of, but it will be a very long time (if ever) before you see another turret ring....and it does look like just a simple cut to shape.
  16. I would much prefer the thought of EP90 being swooshed and washing around in the bevels rather than a grease, and if they leak a bit, at least you know they have oil in them I put one-shot in my 101 swivels, and wished I had just renewed the swivel pins (which I have done now and refilled with EP90)...one shot is horrible stuff the clean up!
  17. Every time I disconnected the batteries I always traced which cable went back to the earth terminal on the distribution box nect to the fuel filter....and disconnect that first.
  18. From what I can see its not an ebay issue...I don't think he sold the Champ on ebay?
  19. I got my NOS GPMG mount from Bannisters...and VERY reasonable price from what I remember. Also got the shell catcher at same time...he may well still have some.
  20. Welcome along, your right, if we made sensible decisions none of would be on here. Its almost part of the joy of MV ownership.....the anxiety of keeping it running, the discomfort, the worry about if you will actually make it to where you are going..... And its almost the more impractical a vehicle is, the more fun it is
  21. Cool....seems like all you need these days are a can of WD40, duct tape and PVA...... :-D
  22. Does the canvas stay breathable? I would have thought PVA would seal it totally? I have used unibond/PVA on other things, and even watered down it leaves a white glaze (especially on slate )
  23. Funny enough, I just did the tilt on the 101, and used the B&Q stuff (Thompson's appears to have changed their formula and there is no longer any mention of canvas on their "Improved Formula"). I only had a chance to do one coat before we had all that rain lately and its certainly done the trick....dry a a bone inside.
  24. If Andrew strikes gold, who's property would it be?
