  1. The Council were wrong. One of the exceptions is as below. 8.10 Snow clearing vehicles A vehicle is an excepted vehicle when it is being used to clear snow from public roads by means of a snow plough or similar device (whether or not forming part of the vehicle) or when it is travelling to or from the place where it is to be or has been used for that purpose.
  2. Oh, they have...... I remember the road to Beltring having a few Reos and the like being checked some years ago.
  3. Quite. This is often misunderstood. Some of the Road Traffic Act is applicable insofar as charges can be brought such as dangerous driving at public events but it is in no way treated as a public highway.
  4. I suspect it is more for commercial use but it also covers 'pleasurecraft'. I also feel it will be unenforceable to a large extent!
  5. The T-33 was known as the Shooting Star or just T bird, the Talon was the Northrop T38.
  6. There is new legislation coming in on January 1st that mandates the use of low sulphur gas oil in off road applications. The options are either low sulphur gas oil or rebated derv with a red dye, both of which are more expensive than standard gas oil. It's all about emissions.....
  7. The Tiger story probably relates to the one at Snegri (sp?) which disappeared but istr turned up again. There is stuff about it on the net.
  8. Sure can, though they look exactly like the one in pic 6 of Steves post 163!
  9. The Cromwell uses the conical nuts but not the conical bolt end covers.
  10. It is worth checking to see what oil has been put in the transmission. It should be straight 50 engine oil but people are often determined to put EP transmission oils in and then are surprised when it is a bugger to steer! It should be relatively easy to steer, correct adjustment is important though. You have double pull brakes fitted which are the better design. I can give you the correct adjusting procedure if you need it.
  11. The YE was a homing beacon fitted to aircraft carriers mainly to enable aircraft to find them. The AN/PRS is a US mine detector.
  12. Not quite, Johns dozer was sold and now resides in Holland but is still a dozer.
  13. Yes, I asked but John can't remember where exactly and I've never been able to find out!
  14. I don't think John had a D7. He did have a Cat D8 BARV though.
  15. At least one armoured D7 still exists here in Blighty, I have seen pictures of it. Last I heard, it was being restored.
  16. Yes but they are based, however loosely, on real events. A science fiction film is just that, pure fiction and therefore all need for reality is gone! I agree about the clips but that is just laziness on the part of the researchers. Never seen a meteor engined aircraft, the Spanish did use merlins though.
  17. Under restoration in Wiltshire.
  18. Yes, they did. The whole lower rear plate was chopped about.
  19. The rear of the tank was the area that had the most mods! Without a closer examination it is, as Steve points out difficult to be sure.
  20. Expect to pay about £170 for enough Aeroshell W80 to do an oil change in a Sexton.
  21. Hi, a plain D4 2T goes about 4 1/2 tons, I have the exact weight but not in front of me. The military did use them without blades, though generally only the wide gauge and as far as I know the D4 was never armoured. The only armoured Cats used at the time were the D7 with the inner blade gear and they were 1T serials. The armoured D8s were not really armoured but were wadeproofed as beach recovery vehicles.
  22. That's a K-78 radar trailer, I had the remains of one but in much worse condition than that!
  23. The Greeks are Centaurs and there are a few in Portugal too.
