  1. I think that will only run individual threads newest posting first or last. It's the thread listings that are 'backwards' now. Is it possible to change this?
  2. Already done.... you guys are way ahead of me! Cheers!
  3. Back to Adrian Barrell for me please! Ta.
  4. First prize to Jack. Though sounds like a lucky guess! Maurice has a Skyforce GPS fitted up under the gunsight. It's the black box with the blue strip round it. I would imaging it hinges down for use as the screen is on the underside in the pic. It has a colour moving map and they are really good to use. Jack, you win........ a trip in something! Could be the Sherman or could be the RV-9, you choose.
  5. Maurice told me on Saturday that the wing is now painted so I'm sure it will be at the hangar soon. Regarding the 'hot seat', I can see one thing out of place..... Mind you, we have one in the RV-9 and it's a great bit of kit!
  6. Marmon Herrington. Can't think of the designation offhand, will look it up later. I suspect Hanno Spoelstra will know, ISTR he has an interest in these!
  7. Black Prince turret is more like a Churchill VII turret with a Comet gun mounting. Hardly surprising given who made it. Centurion, particularly Mk 1, has a totally different turret. BP and Cent were rival designs chasing the same goal, some similarities are inevitable but I don't think there was any cross over in any way.
  8. Great pics! couple of points though.... The AEC has a 6 pr gun which is 57mm not 75mm. The Cromwell Dozer is a Centaur Dozer. This has a Liberty engine The M3A3 is an M5A1 The Ram was built on an M3 Lee chassis not a Sherman Black Prince was a rival design to Centurion and did not lead into it. I don't think it was much of a competition....! Adrian
  9. John, I have recently found out a little more about the Sherman and I do have quite a bit on the Cromwell. Adrian
  10. The 6 pr was more an infantry weapon, the 17 pr was a Royal Artillery piece. With APDS, the 6 pr was a very capable AT weapon and remained in British use for years. I'm not saying the Jagdpanther was knocked out by a 6 pr..... Mind you, as the Panther series side armour is only 40mm (much the same as a Sherman), anything could have done it. As for the similarities between 17 pr and 77mm, they do share the projectiles but that is all. The 77mm uses the WW1 3" 20 cwt AA shell cartriage which is a lot smaller than the 17 pr and the tube is shorter than the 17 pr as well. The balistic performance was not so different though. Both very good guns.
  11. Comet fires a 3" projectile (76mm). It's called a 77mm but only to differentiate the ammo from other similar rounds. I had a feeling it was knocked out by a 6pr AT gun but that may be a wrong memory!
  12. Slightly different.... but in Sherman type tanks/AFVs, if you disengage the clutch and roll down hill, the gearbox drives the propshaft. In first gear, the propshaft turns at 800 rpm per one mph and it will soon snap if it overspeeds by too much. As the driver sits next to the front of the shaft......
  13. There is one preserved at Overloon in Holland, I think that's the only one though. The last users were Argentina, they modified theirs into SP guns. Apparently all gone now though.
  14. It's an armoured Caterpillar D7. The tractor number is always painted on the front of the radiator cover on the armoured D7s and they only seem to be in the 1T range. This is not a number range listed by Cat and there was some speculation that they were in fact assembled from parts by another manufacturer, possibly the one who made the armoured hulls and were given a special number sequence.
  15. To revert back to the thread title, mine has 30.... (31 if you count the aux gen!)
  16. read the previous posts.........
  17. The trailer plate says 'ordance'should of course be 'ordnance'
  18. It is based on a Cent ARV. It was originally made for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and subsequently modified for a BBC Great War production. It was never meant to be a WW1 'replica' as LXG was a science fiction film. I have pics of the bulid but they are all too big to attach.... Adrian
  19. It's a hobby! If it becomes a chore, you could end up resenting it.....
  20. As an aside, Charioteer -15 was the pick of the bunch to my mind. It was a welded hull, originally a Cromwell Vw and a rare vehicle. One of the few with a full engine bay too! Adrian
