We're getting there. If anyone has any good tips on cutting off the angled bead on the tyre so they fit the 1940's rims please advise! B****y hard work!

Now we know it runs we are concentrating a bit more on the cab, so we can sit on it and drive in and out of the workshop rather than push it in and out every day! The square tyres on the rear dont help, but they will be sorted this week. The bulkhead is in place and the rebuilt control box is fitted so the electrics can begin to be wired up. Handbrake lever mechanism has also been given "the treatment" and is back on. The brake lines have been replaced, along with the flexy hoses, and the copious amount of grease nipples, that luckily I found lying round on the back shelf of the workshop under a layer of dust! This week will hopefully see the other 2 tyres done, a piece of the front chassis crossmember replaced and the cab floor in place.

Is there some kind of official/unofficial guidebook for the BoB thing? Hopefully going over there later in the summer.

Thanks for that, I must have looked at that page 4 or 5 times yesterday! Now in the parts listing it tells you the thread size, length etc of the various fixings from the part no./mt part number in the spare parts list. i cant find the list for grease nipples. Looking at it in front of me though there only seem to be 2 sizes. TZ.6B and BT.65. So from what you say the TZ.6B would be the 1/8"BSP, what would the BT.65 be? (CS8GS!) 8-)

Ive looked everywhere in the part numbers book, but cant seem to find what grease nipples are on the CS. Anyone help me with thread size/type. Cheers :?

Not buying more vehicles before my 1 year old daughter was born. I have to use supernatural powers now to convince her that buying any more vehicles is a long term investment for the nipper's future, and that she should help invest in them too....! :roll: Missing out on a very cheap Champ on ebay end of last year, on the south coast, went for pennys.... :-(

Ok, question on the gun types used in this mount, from the photos they look more or less the same gun, a bren, correct me if Im wrong. Did the 100 round drum magazines come into service during or after WW2? Were the gun types interchangeable, or was it made purely for the bren?

Its on the weekend saturday-Sunday 12th and 13th May. A large amount of heavy metal! Theres also usually a number of MV's in attendance, a good day out (depending on weather!), last year they had a Lancaster do a few flyovers. Near Newport Pagnell, Bucks. :-)

Are they really worth more in scrap??

Rad needs to be pressure tested when hot and under pressure. Tseting it by plugging it with your finger and running water through is a waste of time. Plumb the rad back in and find someone with a pressure tester, it should screw onto the rad where the cap is. ;-)

Let me know too, if it needs rescueing...... :roll:

Thanks for that. I was going to take the carb down to Carb Exchange as they are only down the road but they got an 8 week wait! Its a thought to see if they have a gasket set so we can do it with paper and remove the sealant. Using sealant round the pump probably not as critical as there is a filter before the carb.

Sealed up all the faces on our carb with Loctite blue gasket sealant but it doesnt appear to be petrol resistant judging by the amount of liquid squirting everywhere! What would people recommend for a carb, or is it better to just use gasket paper? Also what about sealing a sump?

Any information gratefully received, I wonder if its worth me getting in touch with MVT to see if they can source scale drawings...hmmmm... :rtfm:

Tyres are part worn from Vass, the landrover people, think they are ex 101 tyres, cost about £200 inc delivery.

After a few hours of head scratching, tins of easy start, swearing and several batteries later we breathed life into the beast! A lot of it down to the persistence of the mech-aniacs who work for me. its amazing how productive a quiet afternoon can be. Sorting out the cooliong next, so we can run for a bit longer . :-D :-D :-D
