  7. Hello Mark I spoke to Carl at 5th A B G and he is going to sort some up close shots of there LWT. I am still in two minds what to do with the landy. Battle wagon, Pathfinder or just a standerd troop carrier. Many thanks for the heads up and speak to you soon. Tony
  8. Thank god for that you had me worred for a while there. If Joe had closed then that just leaves Colin and he does'nt do much in the way of surplus. Mind you from what iv heard Colins not to spiecal at the moment. I have your number I will give you a shout some time over the weekend, Come over the farm and have a look at the old girl. She has now allmost been stripped down to nothing though. Found some more rust holes on the chassic which will need some work but they are very small. Looking at her I would say that the guy that had her before me must have spent some money on it cos there has been some major repair work done in the past. This is good new for me, I dont need to do it  Cheers for the heads up on Joe.
  9. Hello Cris Is it the yard that sells all the steel that has closed or the one that does the scrapping. If the one that does the steel is still there I should be able to get hold of the bits im looking for. I will post some more pics of her soon now that she is totaly striped.
  10. Hopfully I have got this right. As you can see she is going to take a bit of work. This will give me the chance to get my big tools out and start grinding and sanding. Thanks for not laughing chaps.
  11. Chris I went over and had a look for my self today and yes you are right. The real REG is 02 GF 79. We had a good look around it and it is going to take a bit of work but nothing we can't handle. I have also got some pictures of her which I will post real soon. Tony
  12. Picked my LW up yesterday and well what can I say. The main bolk of it is there IE rolling chasie, body work but the rest is in a big box. Its going to be fun trying to find were everything goes. I will take some pics today and post them on the condition you don't laugh at it. This will be my first attempt at restoring a land rover so please bear with me. Tony OYA the engine is in a big box as well. The military reg num is 2020KG is this normal? I allways thought it started with numbers then letters then numbers. :dunno:
  13. Hi Steve, What sort of website are you thinking of building as there are plenty of web site servers on the market? I tried a few before going with Tripod: This was due to the fact that their site builder was idiot proof - If I can do it anyone can... Your best bet would be to get a free site and see how you get on. Then, when you are confident you can progress to a pay site. I started with a pay site and it took months to build and publish, even though I was still paying for it. Free sites give you plenty of GIGs for picture upload and text. The site I built was solely for pictures and not much text. Once you have the ground work done you just keep adding. Most web servers have virus scanners built in so you can't post anything that may harm others computers. Try to keep your site family friendly and its alway nice to add a guest book where folk can leave their messages, comments and suggestions about your site. I find the feedback really useful and any nasty messages can be easily dealt with. You will always get one or two chumps that think it is funny to put offensive words on your guest book. These are just a few things to look out for when building a website. Don't let this put you off as its great fun and you do get great satisfaction out of it. It can take a while to get your head around but go for it. The hours are long, the foot work can be a bit laborious and the pay is crap but worth it in the end. All the best with your build and don't forget to place a link on here when you are up and running. Tony http://plain-military.tripod.com   P.S. Neither myself, family or friends work for Tripod!
  14. LMFAO      . How the hell can he keep a strait face.
  15. Hi Chris Might have to take you up on that offer. Going to give Paul a ring tonight and try and arrange something for the weekend. Pete has brought another landy which we are going to strip for bits. If anyone wants bits for a SER3 station wagon give me a few days to see what we need and the rest will have to go.
  16. Hi Mark TOGS is Thermal Observation & Gunnery Sight. The sight was developed to aid the crew to find targets in the dark. Tim they worked find and gave the tank crews the ability to fight at night. Tony
  17. No not yet mate. still trying to source a trailer to pick her up. Bill has sold his rogers is in the workshop having new brakes fitted and the tow vehicle is in for MOT. As soon as I get it I will post. Tony
  18. Prime portal is one of the best places on the net to find good quality walk arounds of MVs. Bit sparce on older vehicles but I have spoken to Don in the past about doing some walk arounds of classics. Here is a link to some of the pictures I have one for Don in the past http://www.primeportal.net/photo_home/tony_hoare_home.htm If you would like to have your vehicles on PP and don't mind me and my camara clambering around and over your vehicles let me know and I will email Don Bussack ASAP and get the ball rolling. This site has a vast veriaty of vehicles that we could do for Don and like my page Im sure he would build us our own page. Have a think about it. Tony
  19. Don't listen to them Jack, its an easy mistake to make  Lets look at the sims. Amazingly this Sherman is fitted with a Stillbrew Turret, 120mm L11 gun, new hull, new tracks, TOGS, New lights, new road wheels, engine and Armour. Like I said an easy mistake to make. Tony PS Bob Griffin will be beating a path to your door very soon.
  20. Cheers Paul Will do mate. I have so many questions to ask I don't no were to start. This is my first project that I can call my own.
  21. Mark you are a life saver, the poor old girl looks tatty at the mo but with a bit of effort she should come to gether quite quick. FAMOUS LAST WORDS. I did have a book on the Para REGT but as ussual when you want it you can't find it. Tony
  22. Cheers Chris going to have a look at evilbay later. I will post some pics of the old girl soon. Tony
  23. Hi guys Having just aquired a rather sorry looking SER3 Light weight, i am trying to find some info on Para light weights. The reason for this is I am going to dress her as one of these vehicles. I have found one picture that is small and does't give much away on what goes where. Does anyone out there have any pictures I could use in the build of my vehicle. This is my first attempt at this sort of thing so it will be slow but I am going to do a build in progress. Also can anyone point me in the right direction to sorce a tail gate for a AP landy. Many thanks Tony
  24. Like Snapper said, if you use a picture or film clip just add the copyright holder name or web add. Many folk have used my pictures in the past and as long as they add the website address I dont mind. As for printing because money will be parting hands IE books, mags then purmission will need to be granted to stop any confustion later on down the line. Picture pirasy is a problem but there is'nt much you can do as I found out, they just don't reply to your emails but HAHO. I have found in the past that if you do use a picture in a book then just a quick email to the publisher normally works. Tony P Mili
