  1. There will be a phone number sorted out for this weekend.
  2. Thats cool mate totaly understand. If we get the brakes sorted in time I will be bringing the TACR 2. Its an EX Boscombe Down vehicle with no MOT so it will most problebly be a static job. I would like to drive it around but need to speak to Gaz at MOD PLOD first.
  3. Of course you are still invited everyone is invited. Are you bringing the Fox as well as the Ferret? Can you give me a few days to see weather we can sort something out this end about the fuel. I can't garantee anything but you never know. May have to sell my body. O well thats £5 towords the fuel costs.
  4. How much will it cost to get the Stolly to the ranges? Is the DPV Landie still coming. also if anyone has a pinkie Landrover that would be cool  We went and started to prepair the ground for the camp site and its bigger than I thought. The only thing is we found some lizard thingies but don't worry they don't bit. We have had the site checked just incase they are pretected. Apparently they are common Lizards so we can camp there, just chech your sleeping bags before you get in them.
  5. Im sure you can bring the tent, Dave is a good guy and wont mind having pegs banged into his ground. Got a phone call today from Westdown camp asking if some of the top brass could come over on Saturdat night and have a look at the vehicles. Hope you don't mind but I said it would be OK
  6. Im sure there will plenty of storys flying around on Saturday night. When we went to see Dave about the paddock he pinned use down for two hours with stories of his tours in NI. He spent most of his time as a fitter on the Pigs.
  7. Hiya guys, Just a quickie: Would anyone mind if a few old ex-army chaps who would have spent time on some of the different vehicles come along on the Saturday night and have a bit of a walk-around? This visit is generating a bit of a buzz around the ranges - as you already know, the Landlord is an ex Captain and I found out yesterday that the chap letting us use his paddock is also ex Army. He has told me that he has a photo album full of old pics of his Army career, so I apologise in advance! Most of the regulars are ex servces and can't wait for you guys to turn up.
  8. Jack Do you want me to post the Postcode and address here or do you want it sent strait to you to post private
  9. I will posting the address and postcode and Mobile number very soon. Sorry for the delay. Tony
  10. I will give all the Postcode and a mobil number. I have an old phone kicking around here. I will get it toped up and then post the number. At the end of the visit it will only be put back in the draw. If you can PM me i will pass the Postcode on that way.
  11. Hello guys Just got back from the Busterd Inn and the Landlord is more than happy to allow us to dig in for the weekend. He has put the date in his diary, The car park is massive and plenty of room for a lowloader. How many of you guys will be useing Sat-Nav? I have a postcode for the Pub which will make it a bit easyer to find. He's more than happy to have a few more vehicles there so if you are still in two minds nows the time. I know its a strang thing to be asking but, As you all know its the 25th anniversary of the Forklands conflict. Do any of you guys have anything in the way of displays that we could do just incase some of the locals do come over for a gander at the vehicles. Just a thought :?
  12. Hi Dave We can of load at Rolstan Camp. It is only five mins drive to the pub campsite. We may have to take the track route rather than going down the road. I will be seeing the Landlord saturday and I will see him about parking the truck near by. I will give you heads up then.
  13. Yes Mark you have to be there its going to be a corker. I think the Coldstream guards are going to have a shock when this lot comes over the hill. Are you all coming fully kitted with commo nets and stuff just to give the photos that spiecal look. The good thing with it being an EX ground is there are loads of unused fox hole and tank ditchs to set up for some nice pics. The river crossing is going to be a brill place for the WW2 kit what with an old bailey bridge and all.
  14. Hi chaps Like the new site, very neat. I have not heard anything from the MOD concerning camping on the SPTA. So Saturday coming myself and a few others are going to see the landlord at the Busterd inn and get the camp site sorted for there. I will ring Westdown and tell them that we will no longer need Carter or Fowler barracks. I hope everyone is still interested in the visit as much as we are. I know the landlord has already said we can camp in the paddock next to the pud but I just want to double check. If the chap has a computer I will get him to send me an email confirming the use of the site and then i will post it here. We did the Impact run again Saturday in a car and we had no trouble getting around there. We will have the Subaru up front on the day just incase. We have also had a look at C crossing. This is a great place to get some nice pics as there is a river down there with an old Bailey bridge spanning it. You can;t drive through the river but you can go for a paddle if need be :shake:
  15. What ever you feel comfie in mate. Booted and suited sound cool to me.
  16. Christ thats a bit harsh guys, a cold bucket of water would do it. Dont worry about me its the wild dogs, big cats and ghosts that scare me. You dont want one of those creeping in your tent during the night. :shocking:
  17. I do have lots more dirty habbits  Please feel free to come to my tent at midnight and I will show you.
  18. That does help Ash if I told everyone. The new location will be at the Bustard inn just out side Larkhill. If Carter falls through. This place is a lot easyer to find as well. Come of the 303 at Countess, follow the road to the Larkhill rounda bout, first exit of and follow the signs to the Bustared. I will be sorting this out some time this week and posting a map on here for you all to down load and print.
  19. Stop that Jack you are making me blush :redfaced:. This is one of my biggest ambitions to arrange a visit and it is all falling together thanks to you and your friends. The landlord is well up for it. We also did a dry run across the Impact zone today to cheak the condition of the tracks and they seem in good condition, no shell holes anywhere. We zeroed the milage and it is about 7 to 8 mile round trip with wreck visible both sides of the track. You will need to bring some bins to get a better look at the middle targets. I would think that during the whole day we will be covering at least 20 to 30 MLS but we can sit down and thrash that out when you get here. There is still a chance we will get Carter barracks but im not to worryed if we dont. OYE the landlady also said that if we chose to stay there they will run a power cable out to us so we can have some power this is for me to have a cuppa as I dont drink alcohol  This is going to be a corker of a weekend and lets hope the rain stays away. The coldstream guardes are going to be in West down for that weekend so we can drive down and have a look throught the fence, you never know we may even get invited in for a close look  Lets get as many together for this and have some fun.
  20. Well the bad news is, Its right next to a public house, the landlord is an ex major and he is going to keep the bar open till the last man falls. The land lady has said that weather permiting she will light the BBQ Saterday night. He also said before we set of on the range run we can all have egg butties. We can park in the car park and tent up right next door. There is enough room for use all and more if need be. What is the bad news I hear you say, Well as a non drinker and a non egg eater this is crappy for me but might suit you all
  21. If the MOD don,t allow us to camp on the ranges we do have an alternitive. The new site is still on the out skirts of the ranges and we just drive ten feet and we are there.
  22. Right guys I have some good news and some bad news for you all. Which would you like first
  23. Hi chaps Got some good news the MOD are happy with the visit, just waiting on the camp site. I have also been informed that there will be at least 3 REGTs training on the same weekend as we are out. I do know that 1000 Coldstream guards will be up on the ranges so it looks as if we might get to see some modern stuff. I have done a bit of digging around and from what I can see the are infantry and use Warrior IFV, FV432, and much more. If anyone knows any more about this REGT please tell.
  24. Hi Mark As soon as I nail the camp site down I will post some directions on this forum. I have just checked from were you are and its about 2HRS give or take. You will need to get on the 303 and follow it strait to the Larkhill slip or countess RB in Wiltshire, we are about five mins from there. The nearest town is Salisbury or Amesbury. Tony
