  1. Am I going mad? Did I see a longer post with a rundown of what is happening? This looks like an impressive event. I always miss it because it collides with other Barnes duties. Can someone post up dates etc for those who might want to attend?
  2. JACK - you're starting to look like a celebrity chef. Blindin' sorted guv'nor innit.
  3. As far as I am aware, the Grant will be left in swiss cheese mode, because to restore it would mean creating an effectively brand new tank. Personally, I love seeing it as it comes, full of spider webs and history. I am glad it is increasingly more mechanically sound and hope it is at Beltring.
  4. You told Lee a joke? Blimey....No wonder he looks bemused. Poor lamb. You never made it past the Weymouth round of Britain's Got Talent, did you Jack. Mind you, it's amazing what you can do with a pink cushion....even before the watershed.
  5. Welcome to the pleasure dome. You can leave a toilet truck in the alloted space behind the club house (next to the crocquet lawn). As a newbie you will have certain cleaning duties to take on. Jack Beckett will send you an itinerary as soon as he's sold a tent.
  6. You've had some bloody big snails on your carpet.
  7. A friend sent me these snaps showing the small arsenal owned by the late Charlton Heston. Just look at all the BARs.....
  8. I Take It Jesse Took The Snaps For You. They're In Focus...
  9. You're right- it's a strange arrangement.... but I think it's a great looking truck. I've been in it, round the Duxford runway snapping the DX show cavalcade out of the roof hatch. Hilarious fun. I'm not sure if it's the same cab as the ATLM. I would think that came from a ZiL or GaZ from the period. It was good to see the BAT-M, too. I never tire of that beast. I'm really hoping the chap with the ZIL 135 missile carrier brings it to the Hop Farm this year. With the missiles added it looks even better and needs to be snapped. MB
  10. Correct the truck with the mudguards that slant away towards the door is a Ural 375. Those with wrap round bumbers are ZIL 131s. The Praga is a V3S and if I remember correctly was captured by the British in Suez. It used to be dark green, but I've seen snaps of kit being brought back from Egypt in 1956 and they were desert colour then.
  11. It has to be before the arena events start... I'm also keen to get snaps of you all and your motors individually. By all means let me know when you are arriving. I am setting up camp on Sunday morning..... MB
  12. Well done folks. It is a great show. I've happy memories of it, although the last time I went was in 1992!
  13. My friends call me Scrapheap Challenge!
  14. Happy days...... I'm really pleased for you. Let's face it, taking on an OT-90 requires a degree of commitment and nuttiness. So, role on the first opportunity for a looksee. Luck!
  15. Welcome aboard Ian! We are always pleased to have motorcycle owners in the gang. Post some snaps of your new machine up as soon as you like. cheers!
  16. This actually a ZIL-135 - 8x8, the 131 is the smaller 6x6 truck. What a wonderful beast. Is it coming to Beltring??
  17. Lauren means the Beltring hop farm...
  18. Nice one Pop! Really good to see. Yes, I did ask for snaps like these....new and used -I'm not fussy, but always grateful. Haven't seen John on the forum for a while...I hope he is well. MB
  19. Sorry Rick, I intended my note to read in terms of one of our Great Western HMVFers knowing this place and doing a snap. I immediately looked in the News Int digital archive and found zip. It is a very generic looking place. I have the same problem at work with a mass of amazing pix taken of Exercise Bumper which took place in 1941. This was an anti-invasion event with two armies fighting each other across Beds, Northants and all points south and a bit more west. We've ID'd Bicester and Dunstable and Towcester (I think) because the snapper said so, but the others are less easy. As ever I cannot show you these pix due to copyright. But I am working on it. Does anyone know anything interesting about Bumper? MB

I can't help you with info on where the others went, John. But I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see and hear more about yours when you have time. Something completely different is always nice to see. Spot on. cheers, MB
