  2. Men, All I know is I like Pigs. All this extra info is just icing on a big green cake. much obliged... MB
  3. Hey there, Welcome to the friendly forum... I've seen the remnants of a few Batus LRs down in Aldergrove BC with IMS - the film prop company run by Ian Newby who has a huge fleet of amazing kit. I got a warm welcome from him and the lads at the Western Command Association MV group in BC - (this was back in 2002). We're going back to BC in 2009 and plan to move up north from Vancouver visiting family friends and so on....
  4. Jack, I'm there from sunday morning (ish)....I've got a fine head of hair - so I have nothing to fear... We'll be partying......
  5. Meault is where the big light railway depot was located, (IMS), So they'll be marching up around Point 110 or on past Fricourt and up to Mametz at a guess. Poor souls. m
  6. I was there last night. The mud is terrible, but a lot of it is due to a large number of excavations taking place on the site as it is upgraded (or buggered up - depending on your viewpoint). One of the marshals told me the mud on the road into the Americas field is 'knee deep'. Interesting. We'll see. It looks like that things will dry out after a few more showers....let's hope so.... M
  7. This is a very nice story..... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1033992/Soldier-killed-World-War-Two-finally-laid-rest-identified-crooked-teeth.html
  8. Looks like more rain tmrw and then a gradual improvement. I pitch my tent on sunday, so I'm hoping things will be better by then....
  9. sounds like you might need Zimbabwean dollars. see you at the Hop Farm :-D

We had some wonderful snaps of the lift taken by a punter who phoned in with them. I hope he made some money out of one of the rags. The rotors were all removed from the Sea King. M

yep this one is definitely a ch-46 sea knight. As used by usmc.
  14. yep. Seen the top two many times over and they are always welcome. Do they come from your rescued picture library, Rick? If so, good. Never seen the bottom one. Good stuff.
  15. He'll have difficulty breathing if he's had his hair cut....because as the corporal often joked...."there's not much 'air about". It wasn't funny in 1977, either. MB
  16. It's walking boots, trainers or wellies for me this year. I'd prefer not to be seen dead in the wellies, however.....I don't have my Dad's 1940 anti-invasion issue pair any more (with an RE stamp inside). Some idiot threw them out when he moved house.....can't think who. :coffee: I just hope we don't end up with the shower block looking like a 'dirty protest' again - atleast it will make the 1970s NI boys at home. MB
  17. What are you taking this year???
  18. Nice idea Cat, I like it. But I need to power cameras, phone and a laptop to earn my living there and electrickery is essential. Fortunately, I have access to some now and again...
  19. what time did we do it last year? 830-9 - something like that. We can't clog the arena pre show....I'll see if I can patch in to Lee on thursday (if I can get to the Americas field thru the bog) or else it will be a bush telegraph job.
  20. sounds like we'll be having fun again this year....
  21. I'm no bully. I'm just standing up for traumatised Broken Britain.
  22. Happy Birthday Adrian, Hopefully see you at the Hop Farm - even if you're not draining your bank balance on gasoline. best wishes, MB
  23. I think you'll find many big memorials have addenda for the people either discovered belatedy to have died, or those who DID die late, of wounds, influenza, etc. They might be men killed in Ireland. They might also be men originally from the area whose military links to Leicestershire are slight. My mate researching men from Southend, Rochford and the locale, is still finding people who moved away whose only family remained local - so their names are recorded. You'll know from surfing there is a website for the Missing, meaning people who are in the wrong graves or have incorrect commemorations because of badly transcribed (or wrong) IWGC/graves registration cards. Polygon Wood looks good from the air. I thought it to be one of the gloomiest and saddest places I've visited. It also has very big rabbits! MB
  24. Doesn't your pitch have access to power? I know they don't necessarily have it. I've only got limited access myself..... Hoping to get that sorted properly this week. Last year I was able to keep my laptop and batteries going all week thanks to a very helpful webmaster, but without it I'd be rhymes with ducked. Is there anyone on the forum using power anywhere that can help JB? m
