  1. Not too much happening this weekend as the house needs painting while the scaffolds up ! have managed to get all the old tyres of their rims ready for blasting and am now on the look out for new tyres, tubes and flaps as well . did get a few hours this avo in't shed mainly finishing fettling rear springs, doing some spraying of bits and bobs and fitting the new rear wheel cylinders as well as removing the old shoes ready for relining.
  2. Hi All can anyone tell me the best place to obtain 900 x 16 tyre, tubes, and flaps for my MW restoration. I'm thinking Petlas or Canmec tyres. cheers RR.
  3. Don't forget the gaskets one for cylinder another for bisector :-D I've just made some for tomorrow when I go to play :cool2:
  4. Just found this thread what a great restoration a real credit to bob's hard work and thanks for posting these pics, is there a pic of the quad before restoration work began ? Keep up the good work I'll look forward to seeing the end result which I am sure will be superb. RR.
  5. Lovely looking bit of kit Miff, did you take it to the Speech house rally ? I can't remember seeing it there :-D all it needs now is a nice coat of olive drab paint and its sorted ( joking ) Be nice to see it out and about at the shows next summer enjoy !!!! RR.
  6. Thanks for that tip, I actually have a part built 1/1 real one in the shed to copy from
  7. Hi All have just treated myself to a vacform kit of a 1/35 Bedford and would like some advice on building this kit as I have not built a vacform kit before any advice much appreciated RR.
  8. Yes Richard had noted that, my main reason for changing linings is because of contamination due to hubs seals beginning to fail plus the thinner of the linings are fairly worn and as I have it all apart its easier to do the job now rather than later.
  9. Yes nut and washer hold the sad remains against bonnet.
  10. Mudguards look good and your brake linings too, I have to replace my rear linings as they are a tad thin plus they look as though they have been contaminated due to rear hubs failing, keep going your nearly there :nut:
  11. Hi John have measured my spring fixing positions and they are 1/2" front and 3/4" rear, that's from lower edge of bonnet to centre of fixing. Hope that's of some help. J.
  12. :-D Good question john its hard to say without looking at them in person take some pics in the day light and I might be able to take a guess :cool2: glad you've sorted your gearbox gears and moved her :-D looking at your pics again it looks as though its down to the originals have 70 odd years of life. Again looking at the top boards they look slightly curved pos due to age lower are flat maybe that makes the difference.
  13. Its been another busy busy day int shed chassis has had first top coat applied looks a good colour match to a sample John gave me though a tad too shiny, thought I'd stirred the paint enough but obviously not :red: Near side rear spring test fitted still a bit of work to do on them before final fitting. Handbrake assembly attached along with rebuilt master cylinder and bracket. Air pump filter on. Plus shock absorbers fitted. Second rear spring cleaned assembled and undercoated ready for top coat then fitting also sarted to fit brake pipes etc but time ran away again :cool2:
  14. I have heard a rumour that Airfix are about to produce the early aero screen MW in 1/48th next year why oh why not in 1/35th I have no idea, there are very few if any decent 1/35th soft skin British WWII kits available which is a real gap in the market that Airfix should fill. If you go to al the trouble to produce a kit in 1/48th why not 1/35th ? Rant over still looking forward to building the kit even if in 1/48th.
  15. Yep sounds a muddle to me, walk away as there is the right one out there for you around the corner, It took my old mate bill a while but when he found the right jeep for him it was worth the time, effort and travel to get the jeep he was happy with.
  16. Regarding the notch usually a spot weld overlaps this on ford and willys where there is no notch on hotchkiss tubs, my advice is to take someone you trust who has a good amount of "jeep" knowledge to give it the once over for you, if its a US import its doubtfull its a Hotchkiss but you never know.
  17. Looking good :-D Wing nuts should be in the post to you tomo
  18. What a pain ! still it could be worse your bound to come across the odd thing or two as you begin to use her.
  19. Well done john :-D looks great out in the sunshine, you must be very happy with the result and I'm sure the 2nd gear thing is only something simple :nut:
  20. Another fun Saturday on the Mw spent most of the day sorting rear springs, cleaning, greasing and undercoating surprising how long it takes just to deal with one set. Need to adjust clips on account of reduced number of leafs also may need to extend thread on U bolts Made a start on the refitting the brake lines but ran out of time.
  21. Ah ha ! you're right :cool2: I need four of those :-D can you pm me details etc please
  22. Go on what'da get made then :cool2: and will I need one or two for my resto ?
  23. What to do on a wet sunday afternoon ? I know tidy up some data plates off the bulkhead
  24. Yes its Saturday again and I've had a good day on the MW with handbrake gubbins back on the rear axle plus trial fit of "new" cab mount which seems ok plus another coat of paint on the chassis. refurbished handbrake gear with new seal fitted trying out the cab mounts new nuts as I had to chisel the sad remains of the old ones off to remove the mounts from the bulkhead. 2nd undercoat green un ready for the top coat after the brake / fuel pipes are refitted.
