  1. The tank or the MW ? :-D Better news about the clutch as it seems wear in the ball and clutch fork plus a missing washer accounted for the extra travel, will know more when its all back together again hopefully this will solve the problem.
  2. Ok I think I have found the cause of the problem on closer examination of clutch fork and ball there is excessive wear also a washer was absent which should account for the slop, it was only after talking to an old retired mechanic today that things look like they are sorted :-D
  3. Came across a very sad MW today I think this one is a bit beyond rescue but I will try and save any parts before its cut up for scrap, found this - Nice looking passenger side fuel tank but not all is as it seems  it felt a little on the heavy side - out with the grinder and MOUSE NEST !!! it was full of hazel nuts and one mouse !! oh well never mind at least it had the correct fuel tap still on it which will come in usefull :-D
  4. Yes thought the bottom one was an MWG you can see the ramps etc, maybe our two could be in the pic
  5. Hi John Interesting pic of the MW's with the flat sheets fitted also interesting paint schemes on some of them
  6. Yes I thought maybe initials but the last two R 3 ?
  7. This timber was salvaged from off a farm Nr Monmouth I'm thinking the markings may be more railway related they were burnt into the timber using branding irons not made by a chippy.
  8. A Friend has fitted this oak beam over a doorway in his extension and would like to know what the markings represent, when I saw the crows foot I wondered if it was of military origins its made of oak and the markings have been branded into the timber. Any Ideas on what these marking are much appreciated. Cheers RR.
  9. yes :undecided: further investigations needed me thinks :wow:

  11. Hi Bill I had my master cylinder re sleeved in stainless cheaper than buying a new one I supplied the rebuild kit and they rebuilt and tested it all ok. RR.
  12. Hi Richard No I hav'nt touched the cover assembly or shims but I think this is where the problem lies.
  13. HI here's a couple of pics of the instruction book for you its dated Dec 1939 Hope this is of some interest. Cheers J.
  14. HI John as per discussion here's a pic of the pressure plate. distance is approx. 20mm
  15. Yep I though that but no it was in the right way.
  16. Hi just checked clutch friction disc and it is correct thickness new reconditioned.
  17. Hi Richard yes I am missing the clutch spring will have to get one soon, there was so much slack in the pedal that when fully depressed it does not operate the clutch.
  18. Frustrating day in't shed as I realised there is way too much play on the clutch pedal have taken the gearbox and clutch out to see what's going on and have posted a question about my problem in the I may be stupid but category :red: gearbox out :undecided: Clutch fork does not seem to be bent and was fitted ok, after release bearing and fork removed I could feel a lot of slack in the clutch release fingers, this diminished as I undid the bolts holding the clutch to the fly wheel. re fitted clutch without friction disc replaced clutch fork and play had disappeared ????? HELP PLEASE :red:
  19. Fitted clutch and gearbox awhile back on my Bedford Mw and have a slight problem in that there is a lot of slack on the clutch pedal :red: I have taken it all apart today to see what went adrift. The clutch fork is not bent and was located properly and the bearing was the correct way round, I did notice that the release fingers were all slack allowing for the excessive movement. As I loosened the bolts holding the clutch to the flywheel this play was taken up, I then removed the clutch and friction plate all looks ok I used a new recond friction plate the first time. Just before leaving the workshop tonight I reffited the clutch without the friction disc and re fitted the clutch fork and I then had a good pedal. Any Ideas on what's going on ? do I need to remove the flywheel and set the release fingers to suit the new friction plate or is it going to be a new clutch help please !!!! :red: RR. pic showing excessive play of clutch fork Ditto
  20. Yes thank you from me as well , I need to make one of those for my MW sometime.
  21. Yes I see what you mean they are not so well cast as the brackets sorry matey looks like your gonna have lots of therapy filing them into shape :cool2: As I said I think they are too small to be cast in sand and maybe we should have gone for the lost wax method. At least we have them to start work on which is the main thing and I'm sure that they will look great when finished
  22. Hi Ian its a bit of a long story I'll pm you the details
  23. Hi Louis yes good to meet you too at Malvern, did you find any bargains ? after a chat with Rippo I have decided to keep the tool locker and fit it to my truck, I have removed the rails already and as you say its better than nothing I will make up a new cradle to fit to it :-D so thank you for the the locker will post some pictures as its restored.
  24. Wocha Paul did you get to Malvern on sun ? if so sorry to have missed you, well I'm plodding on quietly with the truck and have enough tin worm and other things to sort out until into the new year , you don't want to buy an extremely rare tool bin for a MWC by any chance ? :nut: Cheers J.
