  1. There used to be a fairly reasonably priced printer (by OKI) that could print in white, sadly this model was discontinued and often command a premium price in eBay. In the UK Hobbycraft stock decal paper in A4 and suitable sealing sprays. jh
  2. I saw in in my local paper's website. http://www.romfordrecorder.co.uk/news/hornchurch_veteran_japanese_pupils_honour_british_sailor_for_104_years_1_1079538 An interesting and touching tale. jh
  3. I like the idea that AH would have escaped, then had his photo taken in 1952! jh
  4. Does not look like it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-15168877 jh
  5. I'm afraid I was reminded of http://youtu.be/0SDrqa-eTXU Sorry jh
  6. I have no insight, other than to say that I think numerous demonstrators have stopped individuals getting to such events. In the 'good old days' it used to be fairly easy to blag tickets for the old BAEE at Aldershot, sadly the 'peaceniks' seem to have a had a greater effect that terrorists. jh
  7. Cosford has free entry, plus there are a lot of military vehicles (for an aircraft museum), plus a good collection of rockets and missiles. jh
  8. This place is very good, http://www.thinktank.ac , for things mechanical. I like here, http://www.nationalmotorcyclemuseum.co.uk/museum/ too jh
  9. Some shots of the making of a new film about Stalingrad http://englishrussia.com/2011/09/01/the-russian-movie-about-the-battle-of-stalingrad/ It looks very realistic jh
  10. Not original, but probably cheaper, http://www.kooblekar.com/schwimmwagen jh
  11. In the 'dim & distant' past, Chuffley was one of the locations in the ring to be the site of London's third airport. The exercise was abandoned in the face of local demonstrations, and Stanstead was expanded. jh
  12. Of course, all Londoners will know that buses arrive in threes, so can we expect a couple more bus kits soon? jh :undecided:
  13. The bus on the front of the Revell catalogue is a Routemaster, the second photo is an AEC RT, a different bus. I suspect the Sunstar diecast one. jh
  14. From memory, it's a fire pump with a boiler and pump attached. jh
  15. For those of us with longer memories (and greyer hair!) there used to be the Museum of Army Transport at Beverley on Humberside. It contained a large number of softskin vehicles, some photo post Op Granby The vehicles have either returned to the units that lent them, the National Army Museum collection, the National Railway Museum at York and the Historic Dockyard at Chatham. By the way, that is an armoured train in the background of the third photo. jch
  16. Perhaps it is worth mentioning that the example pictured has the additional wading screens (used during landings on beaches) still attached, which implies it's still near the D-Day beaches. You can make out the 'join' where the extra sections are attached to the vehicle's superstructure. Some Crusaders gun tractors sold after the war to Argentina were converted to self-propelled guns, with French 75 mm or 105 mm gun installed in a large, boxy superstructure. jh
  17. Not as odd as you might think, I found this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/4782054/Adolf-Hitler-saved-Blackpool-from-Blitz-because-he-wanted-it-as-a-personal-playground.html It's in the Telegraph, so I assume it's true... jh
  18. And a (shaky) video, first time with the camera. [video=youtube_share;yYfq80AE0DU]http://youtu.be/yYfq80AE0DU jh PS The annoying noise is the ice cream van's generator!
  19. I was there this morning (as a punter, no MV ) and it was a great show, as someone else said "just like W&P in the early days". I thought attendance was good, both exhibitors and audience, one or two spots of rain, but mostly fine. My congratulations to the organisers. jh
  20. I found this on YouTube, It looks like it's still 4x4, albeit with chromed axles. jh
  21. The horrible truth is that 99% of the average film audience would not notice if the RAF used Concordes to bomb Berlin in 1943 or that the British used T-55s on D-Day. Remember the 'great unwashed' think anything green with tracks is 'a tank', anything with crosses German, anything with white stars Allied. Sad, but true, I fear. jh
  22. I suppose to be fair Capt America is supposed to be a 'fantasy' film? The new one is still miles better than the good Capt's previous outings on film. jh
  23. What upsets me about the 'Battle of Britain' was the silly b***ers blew-up a historic hangar at Duxford while making the film! Hence the "gap" in the buildings... jh
  24. With regard to the substitution of (more) modern vehicles in lieu of period vehicles in film, it might be a thing of the past. The recent Matt Damon film 'The Green Zone' used Hueys while filming, but these were turned into Blackhawks by post-production CGI wizardy. So you see real actors leaping out of a real helicopter, but you see a Blackhawk on screen. So, I'd hope the forthcoming remake of 'Dambuster' will include whole squadrons of realistic Lancasters. jch
