  1. Ian you need to update your signature block with that prize.
  2. Oh Tony two little things, the flag goes the other way and didn't HRH look awesome in her Guernsey green dress
  3. Well I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and hope you all come back again with more friends. The weather was perfect for the week and I saw a lot of you out and about, however I did not have time to stop and chat to you all so I will say sorry now and hopefully I shall in the future, the ones I did chat to seemed to of had a great time and they were more than happy to let me look over there vehicles..and some very nice ones they were. Once I have some time I shall get all the pics I have uploaded. To give you some sense of scale on the green fleet side this is a pic just before we set off.
  4. Hi Paul, I haven't forgotten about the switch bank but have been flat out with prep work for the liberation, I will dig them out next week when I have some time.
  5. Well there was a convoy of green fleet all along the sea front last night once condor finaly got in, what a sight ! And thanks to the police for their help, top marks. I hope you are all feeling better today, I shall endeavour to speak to you all over the next few days.
  6. Hope you are all strapped down on the boat. See you in a few hours.
  7. Anything is possible, I'm sure some of us on here have made things 'work' to get home I do rather like the trailer and having back-up green fleet is awesome :-D Locals are already over the moon all of you are turning up to celebrate this with us so thanks in advance :-D
  8. Yes we do Tony, however I do believe we are not allowed.(that will be 2 large bags ready to go!) cordenj thats a real shame, e-metal , black nasty and zip ties will fix it. Yes a jeep will squeeze through the lanes better.
  9. Ok kicking the weeks celebrations off: http://www.museums.gov.gg/article/115600/Hafenschloss We have British and German reenactors displaying castle life with a German field kitchen using captured British soyer stoves. There will also be some 'green fleet' parked up. (Tony it's your lot playing the Germans)
  10. Atleast our harbour can take the clipper at both high and LOW tides This new boat has defiantly unimpressed the locals with it's open bow to the car deck.
  11. Ok so the countdown has begun, prepping of kit, equipment and vehicles is in full swing. How is everyone getting on? To kick off the celebrations this weekend is Hafenschloss http://www.visitguernsey.com/hafenschloss
  12. The flatrack is held to the drops via the main hook arm and two securing lugs on the bottom of the flatrack securing it to the chassis/frame work.
  13. Looking very good, some awesome skills on this forum.
  14. A lot of the structural problems arise around the t-box mountings either through a lack of greasing the props or loose bolts, working with these trucks there is always 2 grease points always forgotten and that is the ones inside the swivel joints on the front axle, these then dry up and cause heavy steering. Flatracks - these are given am inspection every 2 years on a 932(I) and check for: 1. Straightness of frame 2. Frame bars that the planks secure to are straight and there 3. Planks are secure, not rotten and don't prove to be a trip hazard (level at joins etc) 4. Locking bars in place 5. A frame is straight and in damaged with all welds examined 6. Bail bar checked for wear with a gauge (size unsure I shall get back to you) if undersized is welded up by metal smiths 7. General nicks/burs to be ground off 8. Load lashing rails secure and not damaged (little bends in rod sections are accepted) 9. Paint of frame and white centre line 10. ISO fixing points if applicable to the rack as there are multiple styles including an engineer style for carrying rocks/soil Just a little bit of info for owners
  15. Welcome aboard, the knowledge on here in immense on green fleet even white fleet. Now what's your questions?
  16. Not so much memories more like realties :undecided: Oh also add the mountains of paperwork, no pay rise for years ............. I could go on but properly better if I don't.
  17. Welcome, that sounds like a very good collection so far, but being a farm I'm sure you can justify bigger toys too. Lots of pictures of all vehicles are always welcome.
  18. I'm currently on the hunt for a 9 x 9, reasons for it are it's a good size for 2 people and can easily be set up by them, you can stand up in it and mainly as I have a Wolf it can connect giving me an easy storage area / power for lighting etc. The crew shelters are ok but low and require a vehicle to attach too. 12 x 12 nice size for a family, heavy to set up best with 3 people, takes up a lot of room and can be cold as it's a large area to warm up. Poncho perfect if on your own and don't mind using your bivi bag.
  19. Dodge and a Land Rover the perfect combination.
  20. Sliding memeber closest to the transfer box is how I have always done them, torque to 176-184nm / 130-135lbf ft.
