hi, there was one in ireland, belongs to a guy called derek who i bought my dt from, somebody on here will have his number. maccdt has i think, hope this helps.
is the morris mra1 test exempt, as i understand it a vehicle over 3.5 tons gross weight is test exempt, if this is correct what is the gross weight of the morris mra1,
thanks sean. on the lookout for a bmc or leyland engine, if anybody has one send me a message, thought about the six cylinder rover engine in the old 90s and 100s but the gearbox might be a sod to fit.
what engine is fitted to the mra1, and is it common to other vehicles such as the k9, and last but not least, what would be a good replacement, either diesel or petrol. many thanks john.
very comendable all these righteous people on here, i wonder if they have allways been 100% within the law or has there been the odd slip or forgotten tax disc renewal, if only we all could be perfect ?. if any passing member of the public ask me for paper work they will find themselves sat on there arse fairly quickly !!!!!.
hi scammell 4199, had same trouble with my pioneer, it went to gardner enthousiast 01865 400703. ask for david, not something i could tackle myself, if i remember correctly i think you can use the old metal back from the original bearing as a spacer to be able to fit the newer type shells. hope this may be of help. john.
hi, i bought a diamond t from n ireland. it still runs on its irish plates as i didnt want to change the history of the vehicle as it worked in ireland most of its life. all you have to do is go to your local dvla centre and change the ownership details, real easy to do as n ireland is part of the uk. mine came on the ferry from larne to stran raer in scotland where i picked it up with my low loader and then back to leeds. might be better for you to go to hollyhead, hope this helps. john.
hi mike, good to hear its going to happen at dorset for the dt's. pm me if you need any details of where to send the entry form to. thanks again, john.
hi adrian,
details of my dt 981
built 1943

ch no 9814218
reg DOI 2403
i bought this vehicle from a chap in ireland last august, its hard cab and painted in the colours of harkness heavy haulage of belfast, it still has the hercules diesel engine fitted, sorry for the delay.
hi andy, more than welcome to come and have a go in my dt,its based in leeds, not that close to guilford but the offers there if needed, no costs involved, it would be my pleasure to help the old chap.
i beleive the cab on dave weedon's dt was made in house at wynns as they needed a crew cab for the work it was going to do. makes sense realy as there is not a lot of room in the standard cab, you are very much shoulder to shoulder, on the other hand maybe i need to shrink a little, maybe after xmas though.
hi dizzy, will try to get some details of my of dt to you shortly. it has come back from northern ireland recently where it spent many years in heavy haulage.
if you don't make sure your tank and fuel lines are clean, you will have nothing but trouble. an electric pump can be remote mounted so the idea is you put it somewhere that protects it from dirt and water. simples!!!
hi maccdt, yes its derek's old truck, had it for 3 months now. he did a really good job of the resoration. if you are near leeds anytime you are welcome to call in and see her, john.
how is yours doing, put some pics on it will give me some encouragement , also looking for a front weight frame as mine was missing when i bought her, if you know of one let me know
handbrake shoe was badly worn, somebody has been useing the scammell with it seized on until its worn it away, i have had a new one cast useing the good one as a template and both have now been relined ready for fitting. tried to get a second hand one but nothing was available, casting cost about £75.00 including the milling and drilling required plus the lining which is not too bad for a part i couldn't get
