  1. hi abn deuce, i have a good mate who helps me ,couldn't do it on my own the lumps of metal are just too big. him being an engineer also keeps me heading in the right direction.
  2. some more pictures of the pioneer, how big a job its turning out to be,getting near to blasting the chassis and back axle which can then be reunited. was trying to go to some shows this year but a long way to go yet.
  3. the chassis has been welded up on mine, other than that its in good order, its been to scorton vintage show not far from catterick north yorkshire giving a working demonstration in the gravel pits there, organised by classic tracks and trucks, video on youtube, type in foden dumper. pictures also on dave weedons web site classictracksandtrucks
  4. the engine in my dumper is a leyland 680 power plus, but i am sure you could also have a gardner 6LW fitted if you wanted.

  6. the picture of the half cab is a foden dump truck either a DG 4 or 6 depending on it being a 4 or 6 wheeler, i know this as i own the 4 wheel version.
  7. is there any way of finding out the history of a vehicle during its days in service, its a scammell pioneer and all i have is a chassis number. many thanks john.

  9. hi rich and welcome to the hmvf from another farmer, hope all goes well with the restoration, be prepared to spend more time and money than you expect but it will be worth it in the end. a mate of mine has some Q4 spares, if i can help in anyway send me a message.
  10. hi scammell 7377, youre quite right, been on the traction talk forum for a while now, just cant keep away from people with scammells, whatever there colour or background. a man can never have too many scammells. ps. dont tell the wife i said that.
  11. winch now removed, this is where all the rust seems to be , on and under the winch. will have to take some more pics as it progresses but nearly up to date now, not done much over xmas as its been so cold, need to remove the cab and then it will go in the workshop which will be a lot better
  12. hi, the axle tube has been metal sprayed and turned back to standard. new bushes made and fitted. also new rear wheel bearing on near side fitted. the axle is back together now waiting to be blasted and painted dbg, will put more pics on.
  13. just of the lowloader. now in a pile of parts around the work shop.
  14. need a brake shoe for the transmission brake on my pioneer. a very nice man has one from an explorer will it be the same as the pioneer? just to clarify its the brake on the prop shaft behind the gear box. many thanks john.

  18. hi everyone. just joined the forum so i can listen and talk to like minded people, i have two scammells a 1977 crusader 6x4 tractor unit in need of restoration and a 1942 pioneer which i am currently working on hopefully to be on the show scene this summer though weeks go by and the jobs get bigger, bought from southampton in sept as just needing wireing and painting, now its a large collection of parts, work done so far. new bushes on both sides of rear axle, wheels lent in at the top. not good, brakes relined, new rear wheel bearing plus a load of other small stuff, nearly ready for chassis and rear axle to be blasted and painted DBG. looking forward to getting involved in the forum. many thanks john.
