  2. There are three (3) 5.5,s on static display in the middle of Garrison roundabout on the A518 at Donnington near Telford. As far as i can recall there was no fence or barrier to prevent access.
  3. Hi Mike just wondering how many Diamond Ts are now on the list for Dorset, regards Alan.
  4. There were two castings 185 tons, and 178 tons, this may be the second move as GLU 654 (also no stranger to Dorset) was the lead tractor on the first move and carried a large notice board above the cab proclaiming to be the heaviest load transported by road at the time.
  5. It gets my vote, but i am biased as my wife pays for half the fuel. She enjoys everything about Dorset except for the 400 mile round trip at 25 mph. As with many other shows planning starts months ahead so a decision would be needed soon for Antarmike to speak to Martin Oliver.
  6. Hemmingways of Grenoside Sheffield had a 7V based fire appliance in their yard some years ago.Might be worth a try.
  7. The 70th anniversary Diamond T 980-981 THE GREAT DORSET T PARTY. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. RE 70 th anniversary Diamond 980-981 I hoped to get a positive reaction to the idea, not wrong yet. I would definatly be up for the event ,and if part of Diesel heavy haulage that would be superb ,as the section proved to me to be one of the friendliest of any rallies i have ever attented, having been part of it for the first time this year. Mike as far as im concerned, the sooner you contact Martin Oliver the better.
  9. Regarding 70th anniversary of the 980-981,I have long had a dream of seeing 5 yes five Diamonds coupled up to the Pickfords trailer at the Great Dorset steam fair, as per the famous Sheffield to Liverpool movements by Pickfords. Would not matter to me if they were civvy or military with hercules, cummings or leylands, i can almost hear them comming through Watford gap.Would be an enthusiasts dream come true if it happend. Dont know if Dorset would be able to accomodate such an idea,it may also be a county to far regarding distance, just wanted to throw the idea (dream) into the forum.
  10. Next year is the 70th anniversary of the launch of the Diamond T 980-981 tank transporter, how about a "T" party to celebrate?Maybe as an added attraction at one of the bigger rallies.
  11. A small news feature appeared in latest OLD GLORY regarding the ex Beverley Diamond T,stating that it is now at Michael Bowman,s Vintage Vehicles Shildon museum.
  12. Hi Steve ,have you done anything to the other T it looked a really good vehicle when you took me and Graham to the farm to see it near Tamworth. If you get up to Jnc 28 and have time to spare call in for a chat and cuppa tea (T). Alan.
  13. Have towed this Daimler sveral times behind my Diamond T as it is 3 miles away from me and attends the same local shows .
  14. Fletchers sold me two of the wheels plus a few wheel nuts off that T ,pleased to see it saved.
  15. While in the play pen at gdsf i felt that the 680 in the T was not giving its best,i was told that one posible solution would be to increase fuel feed pipe diameter, as the feed from the tank has original large bore pipe but at the injector pump it is only about 10mm .Any advice greatly appreciated. Also noted many variations of the 680 at dorset.
  16. Mike ,pleased to hear you got home ok ,and a big thank you for making me feel so welcome in the heavy haulage section.Looking forward to gdsf 2011 if you will have me.
