  1. Hi thanks for your info the age range of my land rovers and soforth ranges from 1984 to 1994 so i take it chilwell will have all the history cards for these vehicles ? if so do you have any contact details for chilwell ? cheers
  2. Hi i am now in the process of aquiring in service history cards for my vehicles and so far have manged to secure ones for all my armoured vehicles from the tank museum bovingdon , But who do i contact to find out the history of army land rovers and daf/mj trucks as im trying to get hold of the inservice cards for my soft skin vehicles cheers
  3. Latest news concerning my 9x9 frame tent ive now had the the tent repaired and no sooner had i got home with it my misses looked at and said not bad and promptly stuffed it into the back of her land rover ! but she had a rather cheesy smile on her face and the replacement canvas that came off ebay came the next day compliments of fed ex (so A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO FERRETKITT) buy you a beer sometime ! And thank you, to all you out there that came up with thoughts and advice on the tent crisis ! cheers
  4. Thanks for your idea but unless i can get it repaired with extra matching material that would be a last resort but im trying to keep the tent intact without cannibalising it .
  5. Thanks tony problem with that is not sure if they would have the same type replacement material as theres three holes with the circumfrence of a coke can and not wishing to sound ungrateful but i dont want the patches standing out a mile off lol
  6. Help ! I today rolled out my associated military vehicle tents in order to give them a good airing ready for my first mv show ie muckleborough on the 26th of june and have discovered much to my annoyance the little bastards with tails have knorred a hole in my 9x9 frame tent which was like new to begin with .Ive yet to open up my bivvy tent which is going on my daf so fingers crossed they havent tucked into that.:argh: my cats has been given their orders to exterminate anything mouse shaped So does anyone know of someone who specialises in repairing these tents in east anglia or nearby and anchor supplies new are £550 each  As im in a bit of a panic now as it needs to be done before the show in north norfolk thanks
  7. Well done for turning her into a glorious plane once again ! Can i ask if she is still airworthy ie how manly hours have you got already on the airframe, engines, and how many have you got until CAA say thats your lot on her and how much fuel do you get through on run up and throughout flying the lanc was a very thirsty gal, Is she going to be on display permanently at coventry or moved to another airport eventually? i would really love to see her in the flesh , i helped at duxford in the nineties every weekend on the fiesler storch 156 thats on static display and the b25 that was done in the ww2 usaf pacfic campaign colours that now resides in the american air war hanger at duxford, so i know that these projects are a real labour of love as i lost part of soul whilst working on the B25 And one day soon (i hope) ill sell everything off do my twin rating licence and then go off and find an airworthy one , But i have a feeling your shackleton will be in the air before me ive got alot of gaining flight time hours, exams and so forth before 40 , Keep up the magnificent work
  8. Two questions for these entrperures 1 Would you need planning permission if that was on your own property ? as no doubt the local council would see it as a permanent structure . 2 Can you get one that would be big enough to store a chieftain ? bloody good idea though no more aspestos/cementfiber nightmares
  9. I cant believe its surfaced again on ebay this time with a starting price tag of £ 7,995 :wow: Anyone here fancy it ?
  10. I shall be outside working on my ex mod beasties but i will stick the tv on for the flypast after that its outside and get the compresseror going and spraypainting one land rover and roller painting a fv432 for the afternoon :nut:
  11. What a great idea we could lease it to them on contract and they pay a set price for hiring her out what about the harriers havent seen em up for sale as yet !
  12. Hi thanks for your help with info Think ill put a set of mudflaps on my vehicle as not only does it reduce the amount of mud that flies up into the chassis but its also kinder to other motorists . And as for a snorkel system thats getting fitted as the roads around where i live at the moment are very filthy and dusty with all the farm traffic in the area also im potentialy going to move to herefordshire and ive heard that the country lanes and roads are just as bad so its getting prept ,
  13. Hi im nearing the end of my defender wolf project, And im asking myself why is it when you see wolves on the road mainly in convoy they never seem to be equipped with mudflaps im thinking of sticking a set on mine but for getting the vehicle spot on id thought id ask ! And do wolf land rovers ever use snorkels for dusty environments ie salisbury plain as well as wading if need be ? Thanks
  14. Anyone know if its going to be weekend ie camping with the vehicles ! Or is it a one day event i used to go to it when it was the whole weekend but havent been since its a one day event , Wondered if they were bringing back the old habit cheers
  15. Unmistakeable chieftain running gear and gun barrels ! Thats where all the chieftains have gone grrrrrr Now where did i put my passport !
  16. Thanks ive know of someone who has a new l60 in a crate with all the anciliarys so im going to get that and keep it under my bed and sleep on it until the great day comes i know ive got one ready if something does go bang :cool2:
  17. Thank you very much for your info on the chieftain in my eyes its invaluable it gives me an idea of what im going to let myself in for ! But its now a case of trying to find a late mark chieftain they are appearing to be despite their size are as rare as hen teeth with most of them getting shipped to the USA and australia which i feel is a rather sad state of affairs as the chieftain is an iconic vehicle of great britain but i feel this is because of our countrys ever shrinking land mass and the practicality (ie fuel wise of owning one its not however going to put me off ) i hope that one day one shall surface for a reasonable price and i can get to work on one and return it to how it was whilst in british army service, I did think of trying to acquire the arrv variant but these somehow done have the same charisma to them but if one surfaces and theres no chance of buying a cheiftain mbt then ill be content with the arrv variant thanks again
  18. Heres an extract http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlHDoc_nWig
  19. milweb has failed my end as well No evening porn for me !
  20. So am i right in saying that these faults were on the early marks of chieftian, If so what problems did you face on the later variants ? And were the engine and gearbox faults and the serveer leaking problems rectified extensively on mk 10s and mk 11s ? Thanks for the info means a great deal
  21. Thank you very much for bring that book to my notice have ordered it and ill have my nose in it for the next couple of days :nut:
  22. So can i ask you as im trying to find one of these beasts to restore to its former glory , What was it that kept going wrong was it a particular flaw or component or was it a catalouge of things that just kept breaking and did you used to go out to a vehicle thinking oh i bet such and such has gone, And can i ask you about your opinions on the chieftian as a whole as far as its good points and its bad points and are the later mark vehicles far better mechanicaly ? would really appreciate any info on this vehicle that you have . thanks
  23. Thats definately for ferret ! But i cant see why you couldnt use it on an early type saracen hatch unless the hatch opening is taller and wider, Cant use it in mine though because its got the heavier hydraulic assitted rams type front hatch for northern ireland So im going to get wet and cold whilst driving, OH well its all character building lol
  24. Well there is a similar story of sherman tanks and half tracks buried after the war in what used overspill land or a rail storage area when cambridge used to have an enormous rail marshalling yard as did march in the fens the area where they were buried in cambridge is now a b+q superstore and a large honda garage apparently they dug an enormous hole and drove them in and then filled in the hole. What a bloody waste if you ask me ! Everytime i go in b+q my misses goes on about paint or this and that for the house i can feel them under my feet and it irritates me i cant dig em out That part of cambridge could do with a re landscape if you ask me :cool2:
