  10. Hi im not sure that they would ban the ownership of military vehicles as we could say in our defense we greatly contribute to the fuel revenue especialy during the show season all the filling stations ive filled up in whether it be my mv parked next to the pumps or a mass of jerry cans they always address me with a grin so they should realise this before blundering into a banning policy !
  11. Hi the oppitunity of buying a fox has recently been waved under my nose and i have a few questions how do the foxs compare to the ferret in driving, reliability, and ease of maintainance ? And there have been alot of people on occasion in hearing distance at shows who dont like foxes are they prone to rolling over and do they eat gearboxes ? and what is the fuel consuption as compared to the ferret, and is the jaguar j60 a fragile engine compared to b60 and is it preselect gearbox as well ? if i have upset current fox owners i do apologise i have never seen a fox run let alone been inside one its a vehicle that i know nothing about but they do interest me greatly so i dont know whether i have my head full of negitive rumours and jaundiced opinions or are they fact ? I would be very grateful for any info about these vehicles from a potential buying point of view also what do i look out for when viewing and test driving a fox ? many thanks
  12. Hi folks Heres a question for you ! if you owned a collection of vehicles or just the one, which country in the world would allow you to step foot on its soil whilst bringing your mechanised baggage(as my misses calls it ) with you . We recently went to cyprus on holiday and while the temperature soared to 40 degrees i was chewing on a shisk kebab and thinking im not sure about changing road wheels , tracks, or engine pack in this weather.i know that there is someone in spain who has a cvrt spartan and flys about the countryside what terrain to use it in ! And I thought about scandinavia but with 24 hours of darkness in winter mmmm maybe not . Australias out as i dont want to open the hatch on one of my vehicles and find a king brown curled up and looking at me annoyed even though hes nicked my seat . The only country that fits the bill for me is Turkey ie being able to buy a house with land for a realistic price and they seem to be the most relaxed country in the middle east . But i wonder what their policies are with privately owned vehicles being brought into the country even though the armaments are deactivated or would they say a catagorical no ? This is a subject that resides in the back of my mind and it comes up every once in a while in conversation . So can any of you out there shed some light on this subject ? cheers
  13. Hi folks I would firstly like to set the seen around 6pm me and the misses sit down for dinner as per usual conversation that we have covers a variety of topics in the duration of our meal and i bring up one in particular which has been in the back of my mind for quite a while, Moving abroad ! To be honest the reason for this to my mind is the slow meaningless strangle hold that the past goverment has had over the citizens of united kingdom and what is on its way with this new one ? Everyday we are told we cant do this we cant do that ie dealing with vehicles especialy ! And always having to please the draconian ministery in one form or another , And when we are allowed to do something we have to dig into our pockets Again and again, And the powers that be always seem to move the goal posts in their favor never ours when we consult them about what we can and cannot do we either get told something one minute and its changed the next ! Or we get told refer to paragraph 6 of something or rather and that is as clear as mud , The question that i have to ask is where in your opinion is the best country to move to for happier quality of life and one that allows you to bring what my misses calls mechanised baggage we went on holiday to cyprus and it soared to nearly 40 degrees whilst we were out in a resturant i was chewing on a shisk kebab and thinking mmmm changing road wheels or a track or engine pack in this heat maybe not ! I also thought about scandinavia but 24 hours of darkness in winter mmm slightly putting me off the idea , And Australia is out because i dont want to open the hatch of my vehicle and find a king brown looking at me annoyed when hes nicked my seat ! So where would be the best country in the world to live in for someone who wants to take their vehicles with them ANY IDEAS ? :nut:
  14. As far as land rovers are concerned if it goes wrong then i know its easy to fix , land rovers character lies in being utilitarian not complicated so ill take a series or a military defender over any jap ,usa or european 4x4 anyday my neighbour who bought an isuz used to remark why have you bought land rovers they rot and are uncomfortable two weeks later his fuel pump went it had to be ordered in from korea i drove past him in my artic defender and said what the matter your 4x4 off the road ? he looked sheepish and said yeah for 2 months . i rest my case !:cool2:
  15. if your comparing a saracen to someone like eric bristow a beer drinking dart chucker then i object they ve got more history and character and are really iconic of the 70/ 80s and a saracen can really get going when it wants to .:cool2:
  16. She really is gorgeous quite a prizewinner and the ribbons really set it off. Dare i ask how much petrol youve got through doing these proms ? Some one told me off once at a fuel station, Namely a small man in a small car when i filled up my ferret at tescos he said i should be ashamed about my carbon foot print and what im doing to the environment. I said i dont fly abroad for my hols do you? he went quiet so i then added my bloody carbon foot prints probably lower than yours so let me have my fun . he went red ! has this happened to you yet ? or is it just cambridgeshire !
  17. saracens are the perfect vehicle for prom taxiing mmmm got me thinking now ! i think though my saracen looks a bit too offensive for prom do s oh well ! Dont forget to take a railway sleeper with you though as im told their standard ces kit for saracen

  23. Hi to all those who own simitar, sabre, scorp, fox Could any of you out there tell me if the turret traverse on the the above vehicles is just manual or electrical or both, And the big question that i have is that if the above vehicles turret traverse is electrical could i fit the same unit to a fv432 with rarden turret ? if it is possible how easy is it to fit and wire up ? cheers
