    Just as an interesting note, not ALL carrier armour was metric either. Perhaps the manufacturers couldn't procure enough metric armour at one point so started to manufacture the shortfall, in imperial sizes?? Red, who owns the loyd in your second picture? I don't ever recall markings on Bretts Loyd and I've driven the thing! Is it Motats? How many more are around New Zealand do you think?

    A universal carrier is only a little over 3.5 tons if memory serves correct. A loyd is going to be much lighter than this, as it has no armour plate and the panel work is just that, panel steel. Not every TPC had armour fitted, and when they were, it was only really a token amount.

    I have asked that very question in the thread I started about FBAX's. Have a look in my thread, I think the answer is in there. Interesting truck to be doing. There isn't a lot of information regarding them it seems. A workshop manual would help with details, but as yet I do not have one.

    When we did the MW, we left the vaccuum line fitted whilst doing the timing. It now runs very well.

    You only need a WOF if you get caught driving without one :-D As for transporting this carrier, my friend uses a sliding bed truck. I would reccommend hiring one (if you have the right liscence) and picking it up yourself. Remember to put the carrier onto some old tyres if the truck bed is metal, to stop the carrier sliding around. The English/canadian carriers weigh about 3500kg all up if memory serves correct.

    Universal Carrier track, Bedford MW rear Brake Cylinders/ Master Cylinders, MWC Pump gear, all body parts for morris commercial C4's, 1930's/40's vehicle recovery gear.

    I have heard this also, I believe the products name to be Duralumin, or something along those lines. An alloy of Copper, Magnesium and Manganese if I'm right? Casting new rods isn't a problem, as when we do do the truck, most of the engine internals will have to be remanufactured anyway (Pistons, bearings, seals etc.)
