  1. Definitely not in 4x4 as not only would you be able to drive it on the road in 4x4, it would soon wind up and that would be the end of it...:cool2:
  2. Sorry. Forgot to mention the tyres are the new type Good Years, not bar grips. Would these wear more than the bar type treads? I might get the tracking checked anyway. There is a company that laser align the wheels at your premisis/home. I might check it out, just to be on the safe side.
  3. I've noticed on my truck that the front tyres are wearing more on the outer edges of the tyres. This may be down to incorrect tyre alignment. Have the MJ owners among you noticed the same tyre wear on your trucks? Do you think this is a "built in" problem just by the way the wheels are angled or is there another factor at play? Andy
  4. In my Defender I have a centre plate that bolts to the seat box, it's got a fire extinguisher on it. Does the seat bolt to the plate?
  5. At 20 years old that's impressive. How do you go about driving the M35, as a 1971 would need to be MOT'd and you need an HGV licence to drive it??? Welcome to the forum mate.

    Huey 509

I took these in 1999 when I was posted in Cyprus. Argentine Air Force. Is the Bell 212 still a "Huey" but a later model? I didn't go in the OH6, but others did, and some of those should have taken a sick bag, LOL...
  7. Hello mate, I like in Oxon too!! Welcome to the forum.
  8. Definitely a Reo. I LOVE these trucks. Try and get an M109A2 workshop varient. Note of caution. Although most of these engines are multifuel, they aren't designed to run on it all the time. They are designed to run on this sort of fuel if no other is available and the crap hits the fan. Regular diesel should be used if at all possible. My mate's got a M109 and his engine failed after extensive use of this fuel. The petrol tends to blow past the rings and end up in the sump oil where it dilutes and siezes the engine. Bio fuel has it's own problems, perishing the rubber seals in the fuel pump and fuel system. I think they are good for 10+mpg and the LDT465-1C engine is good for about 140BHP. I think the -1D's fitted with the "growler" turbo are good for about 190BHP. I've got a full set of CD-ROM's for the 2.5 and 5ton trucks that I ordered from the US.
  9. There is Reomie in Holland that sell the M35's. This is my all time favourite truck. I was chatting to a Canadian on Steel Soldiers who has 6 of them. He told me that if I was interested that he would look for a very nice example and could purchase one on my behalf. Don't think there is the export problems getting the Canadian versions exported, and I think theirs are the ones with super single tyres, auto boxes etc, the A3 versions. Would have to get round the registration and MOT problems though as these are late trucks. http://www.reomie.com/ This will make you weep, all these nice trucks and can't buy one of them... http://www.governmentauctions.org/aNoFeeAuctionItemList.asp?txtKeyword=M35A2&bVehicles=1&btnSearch.x=30&btnSearch.y=20
  10. Very nice vehicle indeed. My missus wants one. What is the weight of one those? Do they need an MOT?
  11. Anyone on here own this lovely beast? Just wish I had the cash, awesome truck... http://www.milweb.net/webverts/48371/
  12. 4x .50 Browning machine guns by the looks of it. There was one of those at the Stratford Armouries show. It had a donkey engine to power traverse and elevation. I think the guy who owns it is on here, he will know. The first looks like a Jimmy and the bike might be a BMW?? (I could be wrong (and usually am...)
  13. Blimey, that is well over my head.... You need a sparky just to look at the website's,lol...
  14. Hi Mike, How come your getting rid of it? What year is it, what sockets does it have, petrol or diesel, has it got all the toys (avr, low oil cut out, breaker etc) and have you got any photo's???:cool2: Cheers mate Andy
  15. Maybe Recymech66 can get one of his sparky mates in REME to help us out???:cool2:
  16. Yeah I know what you are saying. Believe it or not, the Hyundai is 29kg's HEAVIER than the Stephill and 27kg's heavier than the Briggs models, weighing in at 100kgs. Definitely a two man lifting job. The problem I've found is that every website you look at, the same generator can be a different colour, have different sockets and just looks different (see below). I put this down to old websites etc. The Hyundai definitely looks like a decent machine, and they do diesel too. The petrol has a 15HP engine @ 3,000rpm and 78db at 7mts on full load. **They claim the weight is 100kgs, but look where the price is, the weight stated is 85kgs** The diesel version has 2,000watts less continous output, 5HP less on engine power output but costs £67 more to buy and is louder at 84db @ 7mts. BUT this engine is 418cc and would be better on fuel and last a lot longer. http://www.genpoweruk.co.uk/product.php?productid=16263&cat=0&page=1
  17. Forgot the picture of the power distribution panel.
  18. Here are the pictures of the offending sockets. Stone, it does have circuit breakers on the main panel (see picture below). There are also earth points inside the box (again look at the photo). There are two earth points and an earth leakage circuit breaker. Question is, which one do I earth? Would I need to earth spike the Generator, AND the earth points at the box? This link goes someway to explaining it, but it's still double dutch to me.... http://www.briggsandstrattongenerators.co.uk/pages/FAQ.htm
  19. Hello guys. I'm looking at buying a portable generator for the box and I've narrowed it down to 3 different makes. Stephill, Hyundai and Briggs and Stratton. Has anyone any experience with these machines? The first one is a Stephill generator.6.5KVA - 5200watts output. They are made in Wellingborough and they have the Honda 13hp engine and brushless Makron Alternators. £749+vat. http://www.genpoweruk.co.uk/product.php?productid=16255&cat=0&page=1 The second one is the Hyundai. This comes with a 15hp four stroke Hyundai engine and produces a whopping 7200watts max and 6500watts continous voltage. It's got a big fuel tank, electric and pull start, auto voltage regulation, 12v DC, digital hours, hertz and voltage indicator and circuit breaker. This looks like a real nice machine and is priced at £799+vat. (click on picture of genny for more pics) http://www.genpoweruk.co.uk/product.php?productid=16278&cat=0&page=1 The last one is the Briggs and Stratton. This is 6KVA with a 4800watt continous supply. Only a 9hp engine on this one, long run fuel tank, 2x 240v and 2x 115v sockets (32amp and 16 amp on each voltage). This is £739 INC vat and delivery. http://www.briggsandstrattongenerators.co.uk/pages/Briggs_Pro_Max_6000.htm So what one out of these three would you say looks the best buy? I'm looking at the Hyundai as it's a Jap machine and should be good quality, has a big engine and muchos power for a reasonable price, but the Stephill is made in the UK and has the Honda engine..... Decisions, decisions!!!! What do you guys think? Andy
  20. Thanks radiomike. I do have a spare plug in the truck that I will dig out in a bit. I tried to remove the cable but can't seem to be able to to so. However, it does show the thinkness of the cable. Thanks mate.
  21. Thanks guys. Stone. That plug is similar to the one I have except mine has male terminals. The other end of the plug is different though. How many amps do you think that cable and plug is designed for, 32?? I was chatting to a guy at Beltring who worked on these in the TA. He told me those black plugs are now illegal and they had to cut their plugs off and fit civvy ones on instead. If that's the case do you think a blue 32amp plug will fit considering the wireing on those cables is muchos thick? Also I'm thinking of buying a 6.5KVA generator to power all the equipment (not at the same time though). I will get one with a 32amp outlet, as well as the 16amp. I've looked on the air con units and can't find any plates telling you what the power requirment is, so I'm guessing 6.5KVA is enough for one unit. I will take some pictures and put up on here. Thanks again. Andy
  22. Have you just bought one then, to air drop your vehicle to the next show??:-D
  23. Yeah, look at the picture of the inside, not much left. Notice the exhaust coming out of the hard top for the inboard genny. I didn't have a good look to see if it's still fitted. They even had the vehicle docs in them. The SatCom is BAE Systems. Top quality stuff. Wonder if it was used for UK-Kosovo TV transmission up link? I might make another trip up in a few weeks. I will take some more pictures of what they have for you if you want?
  24. Correct. They are a one off. Didn't think we had any more forces out in Kosovo?
