  1. My mate Colin has a small bit of info' on it here: http://sub-ex.blogspot.com/2006/08/capel-folkestone-batteries.html
  2. My bunch find many hours of fun exploring military and defence related structures. As per usual, history counts for nothing, unless it's a money maker for the powers that be. I could list a hoard of things that in my mind need preserving, but it'll never happen. I would also like to mention, that if you're a rich feller who buys a Palmerston Fort etc, you can do what you like with it, unlike the poor old unwashed volunteers who try to keep our heritage alive, who have to put up with EH (You can't do that!) hassle. Full size rant available on request! :-D
  3. Other than the manual Advance/Retard lever on the bars.
  4. Lee, any news on how much the entry fee will be to the general public (Show + Bunker)?
  5. As a point of interest, are there any common faults with them? I'm thinking of getting one as my entry in to the MV world. I've had quite a few post war civvie Beezers (mainly pre unit) and have found them pretty well bullet proof (as far as old bikes go).
  6. Lets hope that we can make a few bob for The Lads! (Shameless advertising alert!!! We work as Marshals, for free! Want the car park sorted out, directions to the toilets, etc? Give me A PM (with plenty of prior notice), and we'll try to help out at your event. We have our own Comm's, hi vis, etc etc. The only thing that we ask, is to be able to clamber over your kit, and the venue (Forts etc is a bonus!!!).). Ad' alert over! :cool2:
  7. 'ere Lee. I want commission or communion for promoting this. :-D:-D:-D Hope our lads (and lass) can make ourselves useful. Uh oh! :
  8. Lee, when you get a sec', put something up on your website about this. Then I'll leave a link to it on my internet travels.
  9. Expect me and my Kim (poss' a couple more.), in our vis vests. Beer on! :-D
  10. I didn't know about the triangle denoting "Trial". Thanks for that Richard. The Brit's have been doing everything from small turrets to large artillery ( http://www.palmerstonforts.org.uk/moncrieff/large/Moncrieff.pdf ) emplacements for centuries. Anything to keep the crew safe-ish and the guns firing. I do like my gadgets!
  11. Knowing the British mentality for this sort of thing: http://s134542708.websitehome.co.uk/pillboxes/html/tett_turret_0.html http://www.worldwar2database.com/html/battle_of_britain4.html http://lashendenairwarfremuseum.giving.officelive.com/dddd.aspx (Lee owns one of these.) I wonder if it was a prototype? Seems like a lot of effort for a Sunday afternoon knock up.
  12. I spotted this at Hack Green Bunker and wondered if any of you can identify it? A later version of a Tett turret/ Allan Williams turret, or maybe a MOD Dalek! I'm buggered if i know :???
  13. "I know, let's leave the show at silly o'clock on Sunday morning with a hangover, and go to explore Darnet Fort." Pete, you muppet! :-D It sounded like a good idea at the time!
  14. Hi Dave. Hope to see you and Rog' soon! Let me know what we can do to help out at your events (I'll try to lay some lads on.)

    Pete & co.

(mmm, SLR wandering! Extra thanks for that mate!)

  15. My Mrs had to issue a Flush Warning to our local water company, when I got home! I'm full of cr*p at the best of times. :-D
  16. Thanks to everyone who made me feel welcome! A few pic's: The Friday nighters Someone who wishes that he'd not been a Friday nighter :-D Saturday night BBQ
  17. When I saw water and cola mentioned, I cancelled my ticket! :-D
  18. Darth Vespa! :cool2:
  19. We used to buy our own, then slap matt black paint on it in an attempt to camo it up a bit. The local cycle shop used to do a roaring trade in bungees, to hold it all together. As I was too slim to carry two water bottles and an S6 ( those were the days! ), I used this: Is it the sought after haversack that has been mentioned? (No belt loops, just the neck strap, type.)
  20. I had the same with my old BSA A10 Gold Flash. I used it for work every day, so had everything powder coated, and stainless fixings. Also the paint on the tank was Road Rocket Red and chrome. I had the Cr*p ripped out of it by the lookies. So it's not just the MV critics. Oh well, what do they have, eh! :-D
  21. Oh, we should have done a "Monkeys" walk, for this one
  22. Pete

    Mondays suck!

Ooo, nasty! How bad is it? And on it's way to a ticket too. (God must really hate you.)
  23. The rest of the "overnighters" from Team Eejit (Thanks to the biking lads, for letting me clamber over their Ferret, where I took the pic'.).
