  1. Glad to be of some help. Here are some pic's of 1 Group ROC HQ (Maidstone) which is less cluttered, so you can compare the two: http://s320.photobucket.com/albums/nn332/outdug/1%20Group%20ROC%20HQ/
  2. Only a fortnight to go! Would all members please google how to do the Navajo Sun Dance (Or the Rain Dance in reverse will do.) please! :cool2: Lee, any sign of Harry getting the poster/flyer knocked up yet? (Nag, Nag, Nag.)
  3. I couldn't see much of the Shoebury one as it was high tide at the time. It's broken into two main sections, but the remaining metalwork is still sturdy (We tied off to a couple of the bollards so Kim could do some crabbing. It doesn't take much to keep her happy.:-)).
  4. I don't know the area, even though I'm only in Stevenage. Horses at 2A.M.??? Some quality skulking going on there then.
  5. If you mean the golf course, I think that the shelters were something to do with the railways. I'm led to believe that they used the manor house as an admin' centre, etc.
  6. Apparently, there's quite a lot under the golf course. If we get the ok I'll send you a PM. It's a shame that you missed the last Dover trip, lots of getting grubby was had by all. Me and the Mrs (Dugout Kim) had a chug out to the Shoeburyness Mulberry Harbour on Sunday. As it was at high tide there wasn't much to see, but worth doing. Sorry about the pic' and video quality (Cheapo waterproof camera, and a small boat.): http://s320.photobucket.com/albums/nn332/outdug/Shoeburyness%20Mulberry%20Harbour%205-9-10/
  7. You're right about the shelters. As luck would have it, we didn't get to do them as the groundskeepers were spreading with their tractors, Bugger. Mind you, one of our lot is going to contact the golf club to see if we can get an official visit. The ROC HQ is here: http://www.parkveterinary.co.uk/contact.html And there's a bit more info' on it here: http://www.subbrit.org.uk/rsg/sites/w/watford/index.html
  8. Had a mooch with the lads to this on Saturday. The white painted buildings are the original WW2 HQ, and the bunker is 1950's/Cold War. My thanks to the local Vet, who owns and uses them. http://s320.photobucket.com/albums/nn332/outdug/5%20Group%20ROC%20HQ/
  9. As most of this type of defence were knocked up ad-hoc, I think that they did a great job. How effective they would have been isn't important. Anything that would delay an invading force would have been useful, so as to give time for a concerted effort on behalf of the defenders. Hence "Stop Lines", etc. Had Britain prepared for war earlier, rather than trying to appease the enemy, it would have been interesting to see what they came up with. Food for thought, eh?
  10. I spotted this on ebay, looks like they have a few of them: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Military-British-NATO-Army-Tank-Driver-Driving-Helmet-/310245843077?pt=UK_Collectables_Militaria_LE&hash=item483c17e085
  11. I know this may sound daft, but a cheapo Dry Powder, sprayed up and tucked away, isn't the end of the world. Lidl do them for around a tenner on their weekly special offers. Yes, it's not original kit, but better than your motor going up in flames.
  12. Thanks mate. Sounds like he made a pigs ear of it all round.
  13. Reguardless of the obvious H&S stuff, does anyone know why he lost so much power? I was wondering if it was of the amount of dust that he kicked up?
  14. Lee, don't forget to get Harry to knock up a jpeg poster that will print to A4 size.
  15. Pete

    Event Posters.

That's it darlin', just alienate us from the rest of the world! All said and done, we're just trying to help out. (Ask BB Ian & Lee, they'll slate us.)
  16. Just a thought, but if you PM me your event posters, I'll stick them on here: http://s320.photobucket.com/albums/nn332/outdug/ My Photobucket account gets a few hits, but if nothing else, people can download the poster for printing, etc. I leave my main album page blank as a rule, so it may as well get used for good causes. Make sure that they are readable at A4 size, then we can spread the news.:cool2:
  17. I remember in my old CB days that we had to "SWR in" our twigs. ie, adjust the length of the aerial to suit the body (ground plane) that they were mounted on. Hope this helps: http://www.4x4cb.com/public/page.cfm?Page=795
  18. No mate, it's on the A13 approx' six miles outside Southend. Under a large Council office building. You'll be lucky to find much underground on F Island, due to flooding problems. More info' here: http://www.subbrit.org.uk/rsg/sites/c/castlepoint_borough_ec/index.html
  19. A few of us were lucky enough to get a mooch around the above recently. Built in 1982 (I think) below the Council Chambers, approx' six miles outside of Southend. Apparently, they can still get it up and running within an hour, in the case of an emergency. Hope these pic's are of interest: http://s320.photobucket.com/albums/nn332/outdug/Castle%20Point%202-6-10/
  20. Me and Herself will be there tomorrow. See you there.
  21. Lee, get Harry to knock up an online poster that we can pass around plz.
  22. I think that it's a Type 25, if that's of any help? http://www.pillboxes-somerset.com/pillbox_types.htm
  23. I knew that I'd forgotten to do something. Here are some pic's from the day: http://s320.photobucket.com/albums/nn332/outdug/Dover%2025-4-10/ Sorry for the delay. Nice to meet you John! Hope to see you again soon.
  24. And thanks for the pic' of the lazy Marshal, hanging off of the bus in the first set.
