  2. Hello Tyler, Corr.. it sounds like a Spitfire  ,do you get flames from the exhaust?! I bet your neighbours love you with that running! Regards Richard
  3.  The most important thing, FOOD, is quite good there too!! I will keep a look out for you Oddball Cheers Richard
  4. Hello Jack, Mad Man, everone else, I agree, I don't know why there aren't more ZIL owners on here! I've tried to bring them out but no luck. Saying that http://www.ZIL131.com had about 50 users but no-one has used it for ages. I think alot of ZIL owners have them as a big, cheap off roaders not as a Military Vehicle, shame really. Keep up the good work, Richard
  5. I think thats what happens when you have far too much money and spare time. I don't know who's more sad, the person for doing it, or me, for sitting and watching it all the way through! Quite smart though! Richard
  6. Yes we should be, all being well. One point, make sure to not only wrap up warm but take something to sit on as there is no seating other than in the cafe area. Will Oddball be there with his blue badge and is there going to be a planned meeting? Regards Richard
  7. Can do, I'm still not 100% sure how to do it, do I just put your email address as a contact? And also on the forum profile, where it says MSN Messager do I put my email address there? Or something else? Cheers Richard
  8. Hello, I was also wondering what is the best way to repair a rusted panel like that. Do you butt weld the repair panel in or use a joggler to step the repair panel first? Regards Richard
  9. Hello, I think the present set up is fine, this is a multi-denominational forum after all. If it was only for one make or group of vehicle then that would be a different matter. I suppose that to a new member it would take a while to find your way around and read all the posts, but if you remove some thread's the amount of posts will stay the same so it will make no difference really. The easiest way I've found, is each time you log on, just click on the "View New Post's Since Last Visit" button. It saves you having to search through them manually. Regards Richard
  10. We're not worthy, we're not worthy! Which one so I can keep an eye out,.. mind you I only really watch it for the JCB's! Regards Richard
  11. He's a bit weird though isn't he!  Did I see him in a Jeep once? Regards Richard Ps. If he's a member on here, Le salvager is my favorite program!!!
  12. Hello, I've never noticed I'd got it until last night. :? I'm not very computer orientated! Its quite clever though. Regards Richard
  13. Hello Tyler, Hello Jack I've just discovered this Windows Messenger... thingy. It's great, you can chat online in "live time". And you only allow people to join in that you know and want to speak to. Only problem, I don't know anyone else who has it other than my sister....and she's only in the next room... so it's a bit pointless!! Does anyone else have this? Regards Richard
  14. Thanks Jack, It's much nicer having them inside, it's just this time of year, on a wet and windy night, it's very hard pulling myself from in front of the computer to go down there and work on them!! Cheers Richard
  15. Hello Ashley, No there isn't a 6V one, unfortuantly. Hello Clive, No there isn't a 24V one either, but as normaly 24Volters normaly have two 12V batteries, I use the battery isolater and use a conditioner on each battery. Hello Jack, They work differently to a normal charger. Firstly they charge at a much lower rate, lower even than a stardard charger on trickle charge, this stops the battery getting too hot and damaging the plates inside. Secondly, they allow the battery to "drop" a little rather than just keep on charging. So the battery is "cycling" as it would be in a vehicle in normal use. Batteries need to be "used", letting them go flat, then recharging them, then letting them go flat again tends to break them down. Many Thanks Richard
  16. Hello, I wish that I could get into the habit of taking photos before and during a job, not only is it interesting to look back on, it must make it easier when putting it back together. Looks like the vehicle as been restored to a high standard. Very Nice! Good Luck Richard
  17. Hello, We're lucky that we have plenty of space so we built this, Mind you, only working on it when we have spare time or cash (the two never go hand in hand do they?) it's taken two years to get it to how it is now, It's nearly finished, just concrete the floor, add a pit, install a monster power supply, get all the lastest tools, have a proper road way to it,... about another 5years should have it done! Regards Richard. Of course this thread could be a "cunning plan" to find out where our pride and joys are hiden!!
  18. Hello, Don't know if anyone's interested but we've got some Draper Battery Master Conditioners for sale. We're a Draper stockest and we brought some to use on our own vehicles and have a few extra. They are suitable for all 12V automotive type batteries and are ideal for a vehicle laid up over winter. They work by charging the battery, then letting it go down slightly, then charging it up again and so on, as it would if the vehicle was in regular use. We've put some on Ebay for £19.99 inc P&P but if anyone on here wants one you can have it for £18.00 inc P&P. Many Thanks Richard 01945 700449 or 01945 701323
  19. Hello, Personally, I would always go for safety over originality if the vehicle is to be used on the road. Because my Militant is large and slow, 30mph max, I have fitted flashing beacons front and rear. I know it wouldn't have had them in service but during the 50's, 60's and 70's other traffic was much slower than it is today. And I think a 44 ton artic running in to the back of me at 60 mph because he hadn't seen me would detract from originality a little more! I've also added a rear view camera as a extra safety measure. I've installed the monitor so it can only be seen from the driving seat, anyone looking from any point outside the vehicle can't see it. The camera itself is mounted on the same bracket as the flashing light and most people don't even see that either. I'm sure a lot of purist's would disagree but I would rather see someone stood behind the truck than run over them. Regards Richard
  20. I too would have "Convoy" for the Militant, a two mile convoy (read tail back) is my current record! "There's nowhere to pull over on the A47 officer." But when the Howitzer is opening up into firing position the theme from "Thunderbirds" is spot on! Regards Richard
  21. Other interests! I'm either working to earn money, working on the MV's or on here!! When do I get time for other interests! Cheers Richard
  22. Hello, I hadn't realised, but I had a new set of tyres in that pattern on my first Land Rover. They were made by Colway and was the best part of the whole vehicle! I thought they were ideal for road and a little bit off road work. I would love to get another set for my present Land Rover, currently on Super Mud Pluggers which are great fun :? on wet winter tarmac! Cheers Richard
