Right..
Well it has the following new parts now fitted to no avail.
Rotor arm
points
condenser! sorry Cliv didnt take a picture! but its a new one!
brand new carb
so now the misfire must be coming from the HT leads or a plug.
I shall have to wait for my mate to help as its hard to test things on your own.
I hope its not the dizzy, its not worn from what i can see..

I must have gone to the wrong meeting? I could swear the 33rd/101st Royal Engineers were called "the Regiment" even when I was TA as well at 579 squadron we were sure the 33RE were the Regiment?
Im sure SAS is standing for Saturdays and Sundays? might be wrong
-
You know im there mate :-D
Or is it just a B section outing?

I have also come under attack a few times at shows...
The wearing of a Denison seems to attrack a lot of harrasment. I only on the rare occasion wear a beret- that my father gave to me on his death bed along with medals and a denison.
Yet I had some fella from 2Para telling me at WP that I should not be wearing a Denison. even though my father earned it and I was wearing it in his honour! "thats not the point its disrespectful and you did not earn it" He stated. Well I wish my father was there! as I know what he would have said
I understand the honour of the red beret and hence do not wear in public as much as I would like to in honour of my late father.
My mother has a few pictures of my father in uniform and my self in the RE. but she keeps the one of him in PARA and me dressed in his PARA side by side...
continuing the memories.. I think thats the main thing about a "show" keeping memories and history alive.
In a good and tastful fashion!
I shall continue to wear a denison

I'm hoping to have a full living history Northern Ireland British army group with me.

Humber FV1612 mk1 PIG
Landrover FFR x 4
-
Ill be taking my H class in amtter of weeks
in a nice Abbott
-
yes very much so! so who can help with vehices? or man power? or bits?
-
We would welcome anyone who would like to be apart in all of it.
We seek vehicles and anything to loan or borrow that would be of use
Safariswing and Hferret if you could both contact me would be great as we did talk breif on the subject at WP show
The Past Regiment group will be doing full living history as a unit in shifts so all stuff is guarded at night and during the day as well as looking like a real base in action at all times the public are at hand..
should be great! im looking forward to it..
any pictures of operation banner or anything interesting would be great if i can copy or borrow
-
where is the best place to get one and how much? I shall get one. I shall even show pictures of me fitting it:) hehe
are they all the same in the 24v FFR? can i get from landrover?
-
Thanks to ChrisB for popping over to help me out! much appreciated and good to see you again.
Checked over the landrover. Points all ok, plugs are fouling black so would point to fuel mixture.
compression test is 150 over all four cylinders.
condersor was not tested (sorry Clive )
The carb seems to be the main issue. Slow runnig screw was missing, I should have picked that issue up but the Haynes manual is not the most helpful IE *here is a picture of a typical carb on a King Tiger*
So replacing that helped the idle. But the mixture screw seems to be very worn as even with fully screwed in the engine revs do not change at all .
So its rebuild carb kit or a new one me thinks. so new it is! i shall order it this week.
that would explain the black exhaust smoke poor idle and hopefully the misfire! as well as poor fuel consumption!
Ill let you all know how it goes!
Any advice or anything you think we have over looked please say :-)

Ok here is my idea... which one hopes will soon turn to reality!
Next year I would like to make one of the biggest exhibitions of Operation Banner in Northern Ireland.
My plan is to make a camp with correct kit and vehicles.
picture this!
Large area with fencing around it, a 20-30ft sanger clad in corrigated iron with a watch point with hessian and RPG screens.
A check point as an entrance
A comms room with pictures of Operation Banner and "yobbo" pictures and maps showing what an operations room would be like
Various tents with information on the whole history and key points making it informative and in no way glamourised or narrow viewed.
Past Regiments living history group would man this base in Living history style.
having Brick sections moving out with vehicles and patrolling etc.
what i would need is a lot of help!
IE!
Humber pigs in Northern Ireland era paint schemes.
Saracens
ferrets
bedfords
land rovers all circa 1970-80ish and any other vehicle that would be period and look the part!
I would like to have a large British display that is not shown up by the Vietnam and WW2 lads.
Thoughts anyone?
-
The usual " I know some tunnels that have been filled since the war that contain
Jeeps in crates-motorbikes or Churchill tanks etc"
that dont exist or would have been buried etc
-
any on site help is good! as with out my landy i cannot get to th pig and get the other tools! ie compression test!
Chris B are you avail soon? what dates.. i think i met you at seaford oddness festival.. well not sure it called that!
Cliv! shame you dont live closer! well good for you as you know i would be over every weekend!
-
Can any one spare a few hours to help me? I can supply a nice pub lunch for your time..
I now have a nice misfire/rough running under load. As well as Carb needs setting up properly and I cannot seem to make the Zenith speak my language!
My plugs foul up all soot like, so to me says un burnt fuel from carb. Running rough under load I would say a plug or lead.. but working on my own or with some body with no idea what end the engine is etc is a drain!
Im located in Brighton.. any help would be great! most of all for the Carb!
Oh did I mention??
