Right.. been playing all day with the FFR
Seems from the ammeter there should be 2x live cables for charging.. one to the rear stowage other to the front batteries..
One had been cut half way and was not connected! so I was not charging. and my other live was sitting on the stowage box! which does not help! hence my alternator light coming on very dim! as the front batteries become discharged
SO now I have 2 sets off batteries charging! only odd thing is the front set at 25.2V aned the rear seem to be 26.8
I assume this will be so until both sets are charged?
Clive, I have a single Ammeter

Does anyone have a wiring diagram? I need to confirm my set up has not been tampered with as much as i think it has!!
many thanks
-
I would love some pictures of what wires come out the ammeter and where they go?
and the front batteries.. do they have anything else connected other than +ve and -ve from the vehiclle
thanks
-
I thought you sold that? did they not collect in the end? is it still for sale?
-
Right,Here is an odd one..
I have re-installed the stowage box in the rear for the radio charging system.
I have also replaced the headlight units and opted for Xenon bulbs.
Now somewhere along the lines something has gone wrong and I cant figure it out.
Upon driving this evening in the dark, the charging light is glowing very slightly. If I put on full beam and the penthouse lights it gets slightly brighter.
The alternator is charging. I have checked all visable connectors which all seem tight. the batteries seem to be getting 12.5-13v reading indicating a charge coming in..
But what might be causing this? Also! the headlight Blue light in the dial for indication of full beam now stays on very dim. Enough to notice..
Have I missed something?

Im mainly trying to work out from pictures what ges where and what cables go where..
So far what I can see. Correct me if im wrong...
Front batteries have + & - as normal.
distribution box has alternator power in, and output goes to the shunt box
from the shunt box there is one cable split into two. Live and Earth.
This from what I can see would lead up through the bulkhead to the Stowage box.
they join internally to the stowage box + & -
from the stowage box there are + & - leads which I assume go to the radio batteries?
on the stowage box there is isolation points for when the batteries not charging..
is it as simple as this??
-
Yes it does, do you have close ups of the storage box as well as the cables going in and out both sides of the bulkhead?
thanks
-
Does anyone have a Diagram in pictures of how the installation is meant to look with the radios batteries in the rear.
Mine has had most of the items removed and I am re installing them to charge the rear batteries..
its ok having a wiring diagram but pictures are more helpful!
many cheers...
anyone?

Stuff I know will clean it up... ALI Shine from Autosmart (valeting supplies) its lethal! and will strip anything off metal (corrosion etc) not for use on ALI! ironic with the name!
I cleaned a bed on a low loader with it (check plate) and came up like new
about £30 for 5L

where is the correct placement on a Landrover?
Am I correct in thinking its the Near side.. front and rear?
-
Ok. I remember the 110's we had. they had Red front wings and all the rear glass was painted black on the hardtops.. I dont recal If they were in camo or solid nato colour schemes?
But.. what I really want to know.. is series 3's. I know there were some still lurking back in 99/2000 when I was with 101st RE. But did they have red wings? if so.. what colour?
and how much red? the whole wing?
any help?
-
Chances are I didnt. I would have seen them at that date for sure.
I think at the age of 10-11(1988) I would only have noticed the typical "green machine" armour and things with guns on.
Shame I would love to go back and have a look around Geralds yard! more so as he was a family friend he would have let me.
But there are many things I wish I had taken more notice of! or indeed bought/kept!

I know the field and the rallye from my youth, but did i miss the "interesting" vehicles??

I tried to Fork lift the wings of the side of my pig this week! to no luck! ended up bending the bracket slightly with a forklift!
The wings seem solid and unliftable! lifts the side the pig up more than the wings! yet they seem to just sit on brackets with gravity!?
She is getting a huge amount of work soon. I decided I dont think I can part with her.. she is part of me now! and is just about to go for a full overhaul.
Brakes, new exhaust, new switch panels and wiring and a full baremetal repaint.. at long last!
