  1. You could remove the bolts holding the door on, remove the night sight shroud, or see what you can reach through the door on the side.
  2. Tuner Unit Automatic Antenna Matching (TUAAM) and Adaptor RF Antenna Tuning ARFAT. You’ll find both on eBay.
  3. The intercom runs through the RBJ between the turret batteries.
  4. It will be cheaper to sell the petrol and buy a diesel than it will be to convert yours. I like the diesel, prefer driving it to the petrol, but that is my preference.
  5. I think Banisters did have some but scrapped them a number of years back. Let me know if you find out different!
  6. If it’s a Scimitar then barrel in the photos you’ve posted is not correct. That’s the barrel shroud for the L94 chain gun that was used for Sabre. The hole in the mantlet for the chain gun is much larger than the GPMG hole on Scimitar. Best if you post a photo of your vehicle then I can try and point you in the right direction. I’d also recommend buying and reading some manuals.
  7. Ok, you’re looking for a chain gun for a Sabre rather than a GPMG for a Scimitar or Scorpion.
  8. There should be a lever to operate the cable bolted to the top of the traverse gearbox.
  9. Costco tarps and ratchet straps. Replace them every couple of years.
  10. This was on the wooden crate with a NOS Ferret bin inside...
  11. I have some but only one side, I’ll check which side tomorrow. They are unique and you won’t find a civilian equivalent.
  12. Hi Peter, There were a number of Foxes sold off without engines. They all had gearboxes and most are restored and running again now. 136 or so Foxes had the turrets removed and used for the Sabre conversion. A couple of Foxes were sold off with Scorpion turrets dropped on top. Chris
  13. You’re going to struggle with any Fox parts. Helston Gunsmiths did have kits to convert a CVRT engine to fit Fox. I only know of one gearbox not in a vehicle, and it’s needs a rebuild. You might have to buy a vehicle in need of restoration to obtain one.

  16. Or maybe because the Wikipedia page incorrectly says they were built by Alvis? Anyone can write anything they like on the internet, fake news and all that...
  17. I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen that written down anywhere.
  18. Does anyone recognise this? Which vehicle is it from? Anyone need one? thanks, Chris
  19. Malcolm, I’ve had several CVRTs, the red light always comes on when the alternator starts charging. You can usually hear a clunk from the regulator panel in front of the brake and steering reservoirs too. Does the Scimitar need a new bulb? Chris
  20. Im sure if you had a lot of money you could get them re-rubbered, but you’d have to get all the old rubber out and invest thousands in a mould tool. You’d also need to replace all the bushes. Remember that the metal in the links wears too where it contacts the sprockets. You’re better off doing what everyone else does and stockpile good used track when you see it for sale.
  21. Designed by Daimler and built by Royal Ordnance, nothing to do with Alvis.
  22. The numbers are allocated in blocks to contracts for vehicles and so do not relate to the year the vehicle was built but the year the order was placed.
