Just to prove my post war delectations, here's a shot of my Fox troop in Germany on Exercise Keystone in 1986. Can't show you any more shots from my three years on CVRW as Chris MacMillan has them all to scan in for use on his CVRW web-site - as you can see, I'm a real PW vehicle hater aren't I?
Sorry Neil, I will get them back to you soon! You still need to come and see the Fox now it's complete again!

I believe the inverted V (/\) was first used in the Gulf war (1991) as it is an Arabic 8 and represents the number of countries in the coalition. After the Gulf it was adopted by the British/Americans and used in most war zones, such as Bosnia, Kosovo etc as a recognition symbol. I'm not sure why they turned it on its side in 2003 for Operation Telic (or Iraqi Freedom if you are an American) but they did.

I'm sorry Jack, but you may have started to realise there are an awful lot of quite bitter post war MV owners out there, and every year the number of events we can attend goes down!

If Great War Truck put on an event I think he would need as many exibits as possible, otherwise there wouldn't be much of an event? Besides, he would be excluded from a 1940s weekend too!

To most people a truck is a truck if it is painted green or not, and anything armoured is automatically a tank. This is why armour gets more attention, if you want to look at trucks go for a drive on the motorway...
As for the post war/ww2 debate I don't think any shows should turn away people who make the effort to put petrol in a vehicle and turn up. Unfortunatley most of the shows these days are 1940s themed, and I have known people to be turned away, or put in a seperate field away from everyone else after driving for hours in something post war. This kind of attitude from show owners is not called for, hopefully one day the public and show organisers will realise there is more to military history than saving private ryan.

Paul,
I have a Storno Shoreacre UHF radio, which was used in Northern Ireland on patrols. The complete system would comprise 3 radios, 2 manpacks and a base station. My manpack was sold to me as working, and is complete with the backpack and antenna. I do not have a battery or any other sets so can't test it. If you're interested in it drop me an email and I can send you some photos. My address is chris@sirhc.co.uk

You can do it this way:

But if I had to change mine I think I'd take the engine out, clean everything and give it a coat of paint at the same time.

We had a Champ hood from them, which was excellent and cheaper than everywhere else. I would recommend them.

Looks like a standard 109 FFR. If it is 24 volt then it is FFR. If it it 12 volt it doesn't mean it's a CL, as there were standard 109 GS vehicles too. Those civi rear cross members were sometimes fitted in service, and quite often fitted after disposal.

Mark,
Check it's not just a damaged rim before pulling it to bits!

Neil,
Are you sure the crane is the same on the 623 and 624? I thought the 624 was different?

I think you'll find Neil's confusion is that he wasn't involved with this thread until Richard posted a message directed to him!

You could try http://webmessenger.msn.com/ - no need to install anything and it will work anywhere.

I always go to the DVLA local office to sort out problems. I have been there twice this year to get tracked vehicles made MOT exempt. The staff are always helpful and I would rather leave knowing the problem is sorted than send stuff off and have to wait months for it to reappear wrong.

The M41s will go the same way as the New Zeland M113s. As soon as the Americans found out they were trying to sell them to civilians they blocked the sale.

Yep. I bought some to go with my trailer, but have a spare set.

Do you need any penthouse lamps for your trailer?

If I painted my Lightweight like that I'd have to wash it more than once a year....!

Lee,
A lot of the turret parts are very similar to the Scorpion turret, maybe they thought it was easier to build them all in the same place. I intend to fully reseach Foxes when I get round to it. I'd like to get hold of the record cards and work out exactly what happened to them all too.
