Only just saw this, but have been in contact with Derek, C number is same as on Key Card, but the postwar military reg. No. was 27YD84. Info from the key Cards is free, a scan of the whole side of the card (15 bikes on there, and nice to frame) is 20 pounds, not 5 Ron!! (and still a lot cheaper then a search at the RLC museum, who don't have this info anyway) Here a sample Key card; Cheers, Lex

Klaus also has reprints of all the other books, but I just have a craving for originals...... I remember what I did now, had no time to make the special tool (have the drawings) so on asking advice from a friend, used a large C-clamp, and that did the trick, to take it apart and together again. The not using of the kickstarter is in the riders manual, of the copy of this bike, "The Flying Flea", more aptly called "The Dying Flea" pm sent with link to plates. Cheers, Lex

Ok, yes I have the same silencer, and remember it was a pain to get the bracket off! The kickstarter, yes always use it, when it starts slipping the clutch plates are going! they get thin, so the kickstarter slips, strangely the bike runs OK with them, and does not slip, I rode it a year or so, but then it got too bad, I changed the plates, and is perfect now. Changing the plates needs a special tool, that can be made, have all this info somewhere, but there is a big spring clip that holds it all together, taking apart is easy (use eye protection!!), but assembling, you have to compress the springs!! You can do all this with the engine in the frame, only need to remove the cover, what oil/grease are you using? the original (Ambroleum) is very difficult to obtain nowadays, I use OO-grease (double O) you can buy it anywhere. To shut off the engine, you need the right switch on the handlebars, there is the hi-lo beam, and on top the engine cut out, just a wire to the points, that connects to earth on the bars, and engine stops. This switch is not 100% original, but works for me; Will see if I have the info on the computer on the clutch, I do have the big 1942 army Maintenance manual, but not scanned (yet) more proof they were used by the army! Haha, only joking!! will do it one day, for the moment it's running and braking, only the rear wheel bearings are shot, have to replace by modern ones I guess. The Winged wheel patch is nice but not much on the bikes themselves, but very nice DR stories!! be prepared to pay loads of money for this one!! A more available book and more about the bikes themselves is this one; Then a book only for the 340, very well documented, and loads of "mythbusting" ever since indian books came out in the 60's the same mistakes have been copied over and over again, this book sets a lot of them right!! a must have for any Indian owner! I had better start a new post, as no one will be able to find it here!! first off to the shed!! Hope this helps, Lex

Most likely a repro!! if you carefully measure the mounts, then you will find one at a jumble for half the price! Don't think I'll go as far north as Catterick! but can always post. Cheers, Lex

Ah, the decals (transfers) are only for the 125 RT N.a. The numbers are frontaxle pressure/wheelbase/rearaxle pressure I believe, have to look that up, but not for the RT100. Cheers, Lex ps numberplates look good, took me a long time to paint them by hand! the "V" on my plates denotes that it was an impressed civilian machine.

Dave whereabouts are you?, might be visiting a friend in Huddersfield after the Stoneleigh thing. Your taillamp is an Indian repro btw, they are slightly thinner then original Lucas ones, and the rubber is too short, why they made them that way, with all the costs of tooling etc. I have no idea!! Dave, the reflector is spot on, typical Miller. On the subject of wiring, the Flea used to use a very heavy thick rubber insulated wire, thicker then the stuff on Ebay. But have not been able to source it yet, unless I buy 100 miles of it!!! I do have the Ebay wire in stock, a little cheaper, can bring to Kempton or Stonleigh end of the month. A lot of times missing, the little wire clamps, for the taillamp, (have the sizes somewhere) Also still a couple special to the Flea, repro canvas grips kits f/s. Cheers, Lex
