  1. Jan, I thought you knew this, I told Ron many months ago!! Will see if I have one left, but there wasn't one on my Royal Baby, it's a near copy of the Hasag/Bosch headlamp fitted to the DKW's of the time. But with so many people converting post war Fleas, there should be hundreds of them!!! Cheers, Lex ps, bummer about the frame!!
  2. Never seen anything like that Ron!! seems water can get in everywhere now.... But you're getting there, remind me to bring silencer end of the month! Cheers, Lex
  3. Hello Doc, If you want I can put this out on the German bike forum. Cheers, Lex

Have an extra set of pannier frames with Y straps, will bring to Malvern. Cheers, Lex

Only just saw this, but have been in contact with Derek, C number is same as on Key Card, but the postwar military reg. No. was 27YD84. Info from the key Cards is free, a scan of the whole side of the card (15 bikes on there, and nice to frame) is 20 pounds, not 5 Ron!! (and still a lot cheaper then a search at the RLC museum, who don't have this info anyway) Here a sample Key card; Cheers, Lex
  6. Yes, totally agree on the pictures, very irritating! maybe this could be addressed too in another section?? (about forum rules?) But I also don't like people hiding behind user names........... Cheers, Alex
  7. Thanks John! will download all that, and see what we can learn from it! Had a quick look, and from the 30.50 cubic I know they are Indian 741's and assume the 45 cubic bikes are all H-D's but could be Indian 640's in there too!! Cheers, Lex
  8. Dave, did you do anything with the info I sent?? (have more time now, to do the rest I have here) and could you provide me with the details of the various sales, as I only have the dates...... Cheers, Lex ps, any sales with the postwar Military Registration numbers mentioned, as in above scans, I have more info on! (numbers like 00YA00 etc.) Cheers, Lex
  9. Hi all, Don't know where to get this part either, do know it's a stamping that is hardened afterwards, maybe something can be made with a little thrust bearing? Have you tried: http://motorrad-stemler.de/index.htm In 2 weeks time I'll be going to a big german autojumble, I can have a look there. Cheers, Lex
  10. Niek, I can email you the clutch pages, but strongly advise to order the whole book in reprint here: http://www.wk-verlag.de/Katalog/Motorrad-Moped-Mofa-Roller/DKW/DKW-SB-KS-NZ-RT-Vorkriegsmodelle-Reparaturanleitung/A584 Book is from 1944 btw.!! an original will cost about 10 times as much now! Klaus also has reprints of all the other books, but I just have a craving for originals...... I remember what I did now, had no time to make the special tool (have the drawings) so on asking advice from a friend, used a large C-clamp, and that did the trick, to take it apart and together again. The not using of the kickstarter is in the riders manual, of the copy of this bike, "The Flying Flea", more aptly called "The Dying Flea" pm sent with link to plates. Cheers, Lex
  11. Ok, yes I have the same silencer, and remember it was a pain to get the bracket off! The kickstarter, yes always use it, when it starts slipping the clutch plates are going! they get thin, so the kickstarter slips, strangely the bike runs OK with them, and does not slip, I rode it a year or so, but then it got too bad, I changed the plates, and is perfect now. Changing the plates needs a special tool, that can be made, have all this info somewhere, but there is a big spring clip that holds it all together, taking apart is easy (use eye protection!!), but assembling, you have to compress the springs!! You can do all this with the engine in the frame, only need to remove the cover, what oil/grease are you using? the original (Ambroleum) is very difficult to obtain nowadays, I use OO-grease (double O) you can buy it anywhere. To shut off the engine, you need the right switch on the handlebars, there is the hi-lo beam, and on top the engine cut out, just a wire to the points, that connects to earth on the bars, and engine stops. This switch is not 100% original, but works for me; Will see if I have the info on the computer on the clutch, I do have the big 1942 army Maintenance manual, but not scanned (yet) more proof they were used by the army! Cheers, Lex
  12. Nice Niek!! Only the bracket of the silencer to the stay is not so good, I rewelded this on my silencer, a lot of work I know.... Cheers, Lex
  13. Hi Dave, No probs, you can email me at: welbike@welbike.net great that the bikes I posted confirm something you have!! but I don't think I have more contract info like the above. Cheers, Lex
  14. Hi there, I have some stuff in my files, but the postwar period is not so organised yet, here a page of postwar stuff I was able to find and scan; No idea if it's about AFS bikes or not? Do have many sales cat. pages with Matchlesses on them, from the late 60's if you can supply me with reg. numbers, I could do a search. Cheers, Lex Schmidt
  15. Haha, only joking!! will do it one day, for the moment it's running and braking, only the rear wheel bearings are shot, have to replace by modern ones I guess. The guy you bought the Deek off, has now made some sump plates, will ask him about the price, but they were not ready yet today. Cheers, Lex
  16. Nice one Niek!! can you do mine too?? Btw. have you looked behind the kickstarter, there is a very small roundel, with inside that the production date of the engine. Cheers, Lex ps, you didn't miss anything DKW at Wieze!
  17. Will have very nice suspension!!!! (for about 4 bumps!!) Cheers, Lex
  18. Niek, will you be at the Wieze classic bike fair tomorrow?? I'll be there in the morning, Cheers, Lex
  19. Hi all, Since this same post was hidden in another post, here a more direct one, hope someone has some more info! Put this list together awhile ago, from the info I have at hand, parts books and manuals, by no means complete or maybe even inaccurate, but it's a start, any additional info will be welcomed!! Cheers, Lex
  20. The Winged wheel patch is nice but not much on the bikes themselves, but very nice DR stories!! be prepared to pay loads of money for this one!! A more available book and more about the bikes themselves is this one; Then a book only for the 340, very well documented, and loads of "mythbusting" ever since indian books came out in the 60's the same mistakes have been copied over and over again, this book sets a lot of them right!! a must have for any Indian owner! I had better start a new post, as no one will be able to find it here!! first off to the shed!! Hope this helps, Lex
  21. Hi all, Put this list together awhile ago, from the info I have at hand, parts books and manuals, by no means complete or maybe even inaccurate, but it's a start, any additional info will be welcomed!! Cheers, Lex PS Nick, the bikes you are talking about are 340's and a totally different bike! PPS Radek, your link does not work!
  22. Most likely a repro!! if you carefully measure the mounts, then you will find one at a jumble for half the price! Don't think I'll go as far north as Catterick! but can always post. Cheers, Lex
  23. Ah, the decals (transfers) are only for the 125 RT N.a. The numbers are frontaxle pressure/wheelbase/rearaxle pressure I believe, have to look that up, but not for the RT100. Cheers, Lex ps numberplates look good, took me a long time to paint them by hand! the "V" on my plates denotes that it was an impressed civilian machine.
  24. Well, Ron answered all the questions, so that's easy. Can order you a roll of the wire, will email you Ron. Dave whereabouts are you?, might be visiting a friend in Huddersfield after the Stoneleigh thing. Your taillamp is an Indian repro btw, they are slightly thinner then original Lucas ones, and the rubber is too short, why they made them that way, with all the costs of tooling etc. I have no idea!! Cheers, Lex
  25. Dave, the reflector is spot on, typical Miller. On the subject of wiring, the Flea used to use a very heavy thick rubber insulated wire, thicker then the stuff on Ebay. But have not been able to source it yet, unless I buy 100 miles of it!!! I do have the Ebay wire in stock, a little cheaper, can bring to Kempton or Stonleigh end of the month. A lot of times missing, the little wire clamps, for the taillamp, (have the sizes somewhere) Also still a couple special to the Flea, repro canvas grips kits f/s. Cheers, Lex
