  1. That is sooooo funny, that is the workshop of the guy I bought the lathe from!! LOL!!!!
  2. Steve, I think I have the number 2 spacer NOS, will measure tomorow, but it's certainly not the case, that I have everything in stock as a whole assy. that would just be too easy, but a lot of people are asking about this, so I guess we'll have to put it to paper to get it all out in the open. Top r/h in my picture? Lex
  3. Steve, others, and then I had many made, but I guess you're just too late, Jan has the drawings from me I guess? or if you have someone local? an investment in a small lathe and some imperial hex bar does wonders here! just bought this very small lathe for next to nothing!
  4. OK, I'm getting a lot more drawings from Norway, but it's all in mm. but should work just the same! Also all the fork spindle dimensions. Cheers, Lex
  5. No, no bushings, and there's not much room for them either! Here a quick sketch of the dummy spindle, the thread is always buggered, but there should 2 two flats on it, to clear the frame fork end, sorry about the one mm. size, but cannot find my digital calipers, I guess it's just a hair bigger than the spindle that goes through it. I will also have a real drawing made of this. also of the forks spindles, but sorry Chris, I'll have to re-measure it all with proper calipers. Cheers, Lex
  6. Ah, OK, thought the spindles were sorted, I still have NOS short ones I think, but not the long one. Will try to find the dummy axle stuff today. The thing Steve encircles on Jan's picture (on left) is not a spacer, it's part of the spindle. Lex
  7. Yes, but he only has one or two left! I bought one there a month ago, and visited him. Cheers, Lex
  8. You're missing the dummy spindle and all that! also on my picture btw. I may have a used one, but the threads are always buggered, Jan made this setup below. Lex
  9. Yes, well, maybe it was a test, as there must have been accidents with these bikes. Cheers, Lex
  10. Thanks Steve! More will follow! re. Indian controls, there was a batch of 50 modified with Norton bars and controls, but never seen one, or a picture. Lex
  11. Yes, they sure did! I tried that for some time, but keep slipping back on the saddle! Lex PS, next country, Russia, only 2 pictures. and a manual in Russian!!!
  12. Yes, that's indeed in Denmark! Here some Canadians with 741's mostly in Holland. Last 3 pictures in Groningen. Lex
  13. OK, now I have enough originals for all my Matchlesses, so can probably free up a replica HF180, if anyone here is interested?? I will take pictures, and see what sound it gives later today. Cheers, Lex
  14. I'll check Steve, but think that's in Holland, there were many, many 741's here, mostly with the Canadians, I didn't get that far with my pictures, there's many more to go! If it's not too boring? Lex
  15. Well there certainly was a French connection! You should start a historical novel, about his exploits Jan!
  16. Haha, that's funny! had not even noticed that! But I also have the Blue unes, so I can check those further, I do know there are many intersting articles by Captain Hall, and later in the war when he was in Belgium/Holland/Germany, he came across many strange bikes. Lex
  17. OK, here's some more, 3 Australian ones.
  18. The AJS is owned by the well known Captain J.J. Hall (a relative Chris?) there's also a 1902 Matchless and a 1919 Scott, the Flea is also owned by the Captain, it's his private collection, and the Flea was used by him, to demonstrate it to the troops, it presumably was given by the factory, same as the one for Arthur Bourne that Jan mentiones above. so I have no idea where Captain Hall lived?? a quick internet search doesn't come up with much, except this, wonder who bought it 10 years ago??? https://www.lotsearch.net/lot/the-captain-j-j-hall-archive-1910s-1950s-40897975?perPage=80 There might be more in the VMCC library? Cheers, Lex
  19. It's not likely to be a military depot, the Flea, read above, was not in the military, but civvy registered, so must have gone to all sorts of places with bikes. Cheers, Lex
  20. I have many more pictures if interesting I can post here too?, did on FB earlier this year. here the only Kiwi pictures I have. Cheers, Lex
  21. Here's some pictures of 741's in Polish service in Italy, they certainly had loads of them! sorry for the quality, but that's all I have. Cheers, Lex
